SYNOPSIS:
Songs Of Sadness For A Funky Funeral is a road movie about Jimmy Breeze, a music obsessed young man who lives for three things: Music, his girlfriend Laura and the perfect Funeral. When his Mum dies he becomes suicidal. He returns home from the funeral to find his girlfriend in bed with his bullying older brother. This is the final straw. Jimmy packs his bags, digs out his passport and heads for the U.S. His destination is the Joshua Tree Desert, California. His intention is to re-create the death of his hero, the singer Gram Parsons. Jimmy believes that a glorious Rock and Roll style death will make up for the dullness and stifling banality of his life. However, he didn’t plan on meeting Cody Harris. Cody is a fiery, tempestuous waitress with more than enough troubles of her own. But on hearing Jimmy’s plans she thinks he’s cool and decides to tag along for the ride. Jimmy and Cody’s friendship is a strange one. The two hit the road together and find themselves getting closer and closer. Eventually their relationship develops into love, though neither of them recognise it until after Cody’s problems come to a head. Despite the bittersweet tragedy of events, the brief time spent with Cody gives Jimmy a new found faith in life and love.
