Devoted mother Thelma is driving to Las Vegas when her car breaks down in a self-contained all-American town. Her seven-year old son Oliver is obsessed with his comic book Zyborg, and the action figure advertised within, and although Thelma struggles to provide everything he wants, the effects of his childhood longings have a lasting impact that reaches into his adult life.
