GENRE: Thriller, Crime
LOGLINE:

In a sinister end to an alumni party, a highly-successful lawyer finds herself in the claws of an old flame… or perhaps someone who still holds a burning candle for her?

SYNOPSIS:

Rose Fairbanks is a highly successful, world-renowned prosecution lawyer and is at the top of her game. Quinn Forster is a highly successful, world-renowned travel blogger and journalist and is at the top of his game. Ryan Shaw is a paralegal, and Rose’s closest friend, living in her shadow. Spencer ‘Spike’ Barker was supposed to be a hot-shot defence lawyer, but lost everything just before graduation, and is stuck in a rut.

Following stratospheric success in a high-profile divorce case, Rose attends a college alumni party where she spends time with Ryan, Quinn and Spike. That night, Rose goes missing. Rose’s body is never found. Rose isn’t dead, however; she’s in the claws of a psychopath who has patiently waited for the right time to strike and get the girl – and the life - of his dreams. Because guys like him always get the girl.

At first, Detectives Copernick and Peterson working the case suspect Ryan and Spike. After searching both Ryan’s Central-Park-view apartment, and a shed on Spike’s land, they find equal amounts of evidence: Rose’s bloody clothes, and plenty of DNA on blankets, ropes and gags. Quinn, in the meantime, appears to be using his investigative journalist skills to use, and follows the story like a starving dog.

After a gentleman steps forward with a credible alibi for Ryan the night of the party, the police search Spike’s actual home, and find his basement clinically clean… and a bag, containing Rose’s alumni party dress, a pair of heels, and more kidnapping equipment, all of it bloody. They make an arrest, and Spike is sent down for life.

In the meantime, Rose is still trapped. She doesn’t know where or even when she is. She wakes up and meets her captor… IT’S QUINN! Stunned, Rose learns that Quinn has kept her drugged up for weeks on Ketamine. Months pass, and Quinn beats and drugs Rose into a state of submission. Rose also learns a little more about Quinn’s background, including that he’s been completely smitten with her since their very first meeting in college. He can even remember the exact day... She slowly starts to understand him, and falls in love with him.

Ryan, meanwhile, can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right. He speaks with Spike, reads the case files, and something clicks for him. He follows his hunch and confronts Quinn, to no avail.

Quinn’s main mistake is when, roughly one year on from his abduction of Rose, he chooses to take her out in public, to a restaurant to celebrate their anniversary. Rose is of course recognised by a waiter, and the police are called. Her glass is tested for a DNA match, and it is found. Quinn is arrested, tried and found guilty, and Rose is taken into rehab to start resolving her addiction to Ketamine.

Despite her progress, Rose can’t seem to escape the hold Quinn has over her. She visits him in prison despite warnings from her friends, and… well, guys like Quinn? They ALWAYS get the girl
