LOVE IN THE SPOTLIGHT
By Jennifer Bonner

GENRE: Romance, Comedy
LOGLINE:

To save her hometown theatre, a movie star must team up with her estranged best friend, only to find that long-lost feelings resurface, new feelings emerge, and things get complicated.

SYNOPSIS:

Kate Warner is the brightest star in Hollywood, but it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. A high-powered boyfriend dumps her in a very public way, she is making films that don’t fulfill her, and a very important and stressful producing prospect is on the horizon, what she really needs is to get out of town for a while. Then, the perfect opportunity arises when she sees her hometown mentor from the Embassy Theatre is retiring and the town is throwing a big gala for him. After all, there’s no place like home.

So, home she goes, to find the perfect screenplay to produce, to heal, and to find herself. What she was not expecting to find was her college best friend, Nick Kruger, a writer, who just happens to be replacing their mentor as director of the theatre. Estranged after his mother’s death, they haven’t spoken in years, but the spark that always underlies their relationship is ignited again. Well, at least for Nick. Kate seems to be pretty clueless.

She does, however, realize that the theatre is in trouble, and vows to help save it, putting everything else on hold, including the high-powered, now EX-boyfriend, that happens to be the studio executive in charge of her movie production. But without a script, and no desire to actually speak to him, she focuses on the gala and reconciling with Nick.

Sometimes reconnecting means finding more than you bargained for. Sometimes it means finding love. And sometimes it means finding yourself along the way.
