The playboy son of a wealthy business tycoon, and his girlfriend escape their
troubles with a pampered expedition to the summit of Mt. Everest.
Once on the mountain, the dead begin to walk the earth, and the hundreds of bodies infamously littered there, will become a perilous threat.
SYNOPSIS:
Jess is a young woman, struggling to find her confidence,
in a long term relationship with Daniel, the arrogant, and infamous,
playboy son of a billionaire business Tycoon. Daniel has planned a once
in a lifetime trip for the two of them to escape both "work problems" that
he won't clarify the nature of, as well as a global pandemic.
When Daniel reveals the surprise trip is a climb of Mount Everest,
Jess is understandably unsure. However, but after a bit of gaslighting,
and a promise that the two will be picked up from the summit in a helicopter,
Jess agrees to go with him.
Despite Daniels inappropriate behavior,
Jess does what she can to enjoy their trip, and tries to see the good side
of her boyfriend's character. While climbing the mountain, Jess is
internally weighing the pros and cons of their relationship,
before learning from other travelers that Daniel is facing criminal and
civil prosecution for sexual assault at his fathers company, and that the
story has gained traction in international news. Jess also learns that Daniel
has illegally brought a pistol with them to Nepal, and is drinking heavily.
Unfortunately for them all, the rape scandal is soon overshadowed
by a larger news story: the dead are returning to life, to feast on the living.
Already halfway up the mountain, the group is torn on proceeding up
to isolate themselves from potential zombies at the lodge,
or to return down the mountain and face whatever may be at their hotel.
Most of the group chooses to continue upwards, and work together,
lured in by Daniel's promise of a helicopter meeting them near the summit.
Jess however knows that there are only two available seats, but reluctantly
keeps quiet
They're soon attacked further up the mountain.
They first believe these attackers to be other lost hikers,
before realizing what the hundreds of dead bodies on Mount Everest
now mean for their journey.
Daniel's selfish nature becomes more apparent, and even more
consequential as their group struggles to complete their journey up
the mountain. Even believing that there is a more immediate threat,
Jess confronts Daniel about the claims made against him, and
discovers that great lengths were undertaken to keep her in the dark about this.
Daniel reveals that he'd planned this trip to propose to Jess,
but she's not swayed in her judgement. Her rejection infuriates Daniel,
who begins to unravel as the group continues upwards. After losing some of their
oxygen supply in another attack, Daniel is quick to sacrifice more of the
remaining group, and is wounded in the process. Jess can now see that surviving
with Daniel isn't the same as living. She comforts the now distraught,
and untrusting Daniel, just long enough to take his pistol unseen.
Jess then confronts Daniel a final time about his actions and character.
Daniel does what he can to turn the conversation around, insisting that
Jess has gone along with what he's done at every step of the way, and
that if he's an evil person, then she surely is as well.
Rejecting this notion, Jess kills Daniel with his pistol, and reaches
the helicopter on time with another group member.
Jess lies that Daniel was bitten, allowing her and her guest passage onto
the helicopter. The helicopter then takes them to a safe zone in Nepal.
