Ricky Bowen (Joshua Bassett) gets a call from Erin Salazar-Walker the cousin of Nini Salazar-Roberts (Olivia Rodrigo) and her boyfriend Derek Ray and learns she was on a downward spiral and now she is missing and they blame Johnny Prince and the Gold Stars a musical group that is managed by singer M. Shelly. Realizing something bad has happened and his feelings for her are resurrected he breaks up with Gina realizing they aren’t meant to be together after all and becomes a drop-out sacrificing a musical role and collage, he heads to California to help Nini’s family. Nini’s family welcomes him, and he seeks out the Gold Stars but is sent away but after standing up for a kid named Jimmy Wu and his sister Lynn Wu then after finding his cousin Greg Bowen and his girlfriend Alexis Raine and his friend Sullivan “Sticky” Sullenger and his other friends are introduced to a group of kids named Mason Church, Natasha Booth, Devin Daniels, Peyton Hall, Cherry O’Keefe, Harvey Flynn, Colby Baker and teacher Mike Jin. The new friends take them to an Asian district to meet the American Dragon: Jake Long who has been there since magic was revealed, and a subject by violent protest due to his alliance with the police by Kingston Sanford the left-wing extremist son of Mayor Wade Sandford. They meet Jake (Booboo Stewart) and his sister Hayley, and other dragons, and Jakes allies like Trixie, Spud, and others, and Jake's parents Jonathan Long, Susan Long, Lao Shi and James Long Jake’s other grandfather. Jake agrees to help and using dream charms and the Red-Thread of Destiny they locate Nini and learn she was kidnapped for sex-slavery and will be brought to an illegal underground tournament disguised as a competition as an escort. Joined by Jamie Porter (Jordan Fisher) and his boss Alvin Rollins, his wife Cheryl, and their sons Jay Rollins, and Omar, and Oscar they locate the tournament which is run by Huntsman Reginald Renard and some of the fighters Fan Lee, John Roper, and Jim Williams who are being blackmailed, and former fighters turned criminals Bob O’Hara and Yang Bolo. Through an exhibition Jake and his allies win the right to compete (though some will be unfairly fought) and Nini and a few of the slaves are freed to them. Ricky declares his love for Nini admitting what he sacrificed for her and that Johnny and the Gold Starts bullied them, and that their manager M. Shelly is a sick and dangerous man and with Berticous Culton an adult filmmaker who was accused of killing his wife are involved and their crimes are helped by Governor Leland Vaughn a local social activist who ran successful lawsuits against police for brutality, excessive force, and racial profiling, and became Governor and passed new laws making it impossible for cops to do their jobs. Making an alley with reporter Kellan Anderson and a social activist named Andrea Curson she meets with Vaughn and longtime rival George Arnold Jamison. While Jake fights in the tournament Ricky and his new friends help Nini recover from her ordeal and takes her to a dance club where she is reminded that she and Ricky got into music for fun instead of fame, and realizes Ricky is her true love and not Johnny. They run into muggers who turn out to be street kids lead by Wednesday Malone and befriend them and begin steering them from gang activity and befriend their parents who help them.
Meanwhile, Andrea finds out that somehow Jamison did a terrible job on his cases and just gave Vaughn an easy victory. Jake realizes something isn’t right about them, and Nini reveals she knows Shelly was a friend of Jamie’s father Garnett. Jamie reluctantly admits that Shelly and his father were best friends since childhood and when they grew up Garnett married childhood sweetheart Terri and had Jamie and Gina, and found a job that would allow him to be closer to his family while Shelly wanted to sign with a major record company that would make them stars, but Garnett declined. But Shelly upset at first accepted and had a toast to their dreams coming true then during a barbecue with their high school friends Garnett died of a heart attack, and Shelly Terri that he wanted to keep Garnett’s memory alive through his songs and she accepted. But then discovered he had stolen credit for the songs, when she tried to confront Shelly she was blown off, and when she tried to press charges there was no evidence of Shelly doing anything wrong and was dismissed. When Nini sees the video of Garnett and Shelly’s toast she finds it like a movie Shelly did where his character is killed by his best friend with ricin, and she and Ricky make a realization. Meanwhile Vaughn and Shelly confront them about Nini’s neglecting her career and trying to derail accusations. As they argue Jamie reminds Shelly about stealing his father’s songs and their final toast which is shown on the video and Jamie realizes that his father didn’t have a heart attack he was killed by Shelly. Shelly confirms this, while Jake and Jonathan reveal to Andrea Vaughn and Jamison are corrupt and working together, which they admit to, while Jamie is shot. With help from Fu they escape and free the family of the fighters who are being blackmailed and they battle their way through, when confronted the villains fail to notice the animal guardians and Wednesday’s group, turning the cameras on and allowing the public (which includes the East High Wildcats and their families) to see the truth. Vaughn and Jamison and several political bosses admit to their corruption and scam (when Jake reminds Vaughn it’s only because of Jamison he’s famous), while Shelly reveals his sex-crimes which he enjoys and Ricky and Nini expose him as a fraud and killer who murdered Garnett much to the shock and horror of Terri and Gina, while Culton admits to killing his wife and running a sex trafficking ring, and Vaughn reveals the real purpose of the new laws are to protect the criminals who pay him off, while Shelly reveals the Gold Stars are in a debt and Johnny’s drug habit and Kingston’s involvement with selling drugs. Renard realizes this to late, and the public turns on Vaughn and Shelly, while Jake and Renard fight and Jake kills him, while Jamie is rushed to a hospital with Terri and Gina and Mike, Cheryl, scold the public for turning a blind eye to Shelly and Vaughn’s corruption, and that they sacrificed their rights and liberties listening to him and taking them for granted. At the hospital Ricky and Nini tell their old friends what happened to them, and they see Johnny’s true colors and lack of regard for the lives ruined by the drugs, and leading Nini on, which his father sees and allows his arrest. While Wade sees his son Kingston’s true colors and allows his arrest as well. After learning the Gold Stars barrowed money from a loan shark, they confront him, and through a bet they get the debt canceled but the Gold Stars are still arrested for drug dealing and fraud. Ricky reveals he intends to stay in California to help Nini with her career the right way, and a youth program to steer the kids from gangs as he and Nini became attached to them. Lao Shi and James assure Mike and Lynne that this means Ricky has a good heart and shows that he was raised right. Everyone accepts his decision and Ricky and Nini’s relationship as well, while Gina reconciles with her mother and brother. Vaugh is impeached and with Shelly, Culton and other criminals jailed for life, Fan, John, and Jim return home with their families, Wade Sanford resigns as mayor and Kingston, Johnny and the Gold Stars end up in legal trouble. Mason and Natasha begin to date, as does Devin and Peyton, Harvey and Cherry, Ethan and Nichole, Coby and Lynn, and others. Ricky and Nini become music stars and take over the Gold Stars station and rebrand it Moment and maintain their friendship with Jake who sticks around to help the police keep California safe from crime with magical citizens who are getting equal rights and some joining the police department.

Hi Kevin Hager - I would focus on creating original work that isn't proprietary. If someone else decided to write something that belonged to you without your permission, it wouldn't be appropriate. Try creating a logline that is not related to anything that someone else owns and go from there. You'll likely enjoy the process!
