GOPTRI OF THE MISTS: KITAAB EK

GOPTRI OF THE MISTS: KITAAB EK
By Bill McCormick

GENRE: Sci-fi
LOGLINE:

It was one thing to maintain order, quite another to inflict tyranny. When that line got blurred one brave soul rose up in protest and set off a chain of events that would eventually lead to a world war, alien robots, and non-dimensional souls. But, before all that could happen, he'd need some bourbon, some luck, and some mists to rule.

The prequel/sequel to the Award Winning series The Brittle Riders.

SYNOPSIS:

The Sanskrit word Goptri means "military governor, ruler, or protector." It can also be translated as "secret" or "hidden." Both meanings work in this latest trilogy.

The Past:

Although humans have long since been killed, artificial intelligence is rearing its ugly head again, and a group of rebels fight to regain organic control of the planet. Once that is done, they find they are now in charge, and none of them know the first thing about governance.

The original Goptri is named Manish. His rise to power begins when an enemy ambassador shoots his wife, Arti.

He becomes a very public leader, but his office is responsible for one of the most secret species in the world, one that contains the memories of the most violent human who ever lived. Discovery of their existence could start a civil war.

The Present:

Peace reigns on the continent formerly known as India. Suddenly, an ancient evil appears and throws the entire planet into chaos and war. Worse, still, it turns out the artificial intelligence wasn't as dead as previously claimed. All these forces will clash, leaving the fate of the world in question.

All of this is merely the beginning of a galaxy-spanning tale of intrigue, betrayal, and bloody retribution.

Written in a completely different style than, but in a universe connected to, The Brittle Riders, this will give your nightmares nightmares. Introducing new characters, new stories, new foods, newish booze, and a villain guaranteed to make you both sad and terrified.
