I agree with Emily J. Here's part of a logline suggestion: “Not wanting to spend another New Years Day alone. a _______ (another adjective instead of "lonesome" since "Not wanting to spend another New Years Day alone" tells us he's lonely) young adult tries to/attempts to/fights to/struggles to/strives to/sets out to/etc. _______ (goal of story) so/in order to ________ (stakes).”
