DRIPNECK

DRIPNECK
By Shaun Simpson

GENRE: Experimental
LOGLINE:

When reality shifts like sand in a bingo ball machine and the maybe dead talk, can Donal dig deep enough to find the truth behind the mirage?

SYNOPSIS:

In this mind-bending cocktail of dark comedy, supernatural thriller, and psychological horror, Donal's mundane life as a night assistant at a desolate petrol station takes a surreal turn when his eccentric friend Rhys crashes through the back door, drenched in sweat, with news of a mutual friend's demise.

What follows is a gritty, surrealist dreamscape of unreliable narrators, shape-shifting apparitions, and disappearing acts that would make Houdini jealous. As Donal's ragtag group of friends spin increasingly outlandish tales of Kees's supposed death, our gullible protagonist finds himself trapped in a funhouse mirror of truth and fiction.

Just when you think you've got a handle on reality, Kees himself shows up - or does he? Is he alive, dead, or something in between? And why does he keep changing form like a chameleon on acid?

As friends vanish into thin air and Donal's girlfriend arrives to add another layer of chaos, the group seeks refuge in the most unlikely of places, an illegal Wild West-style bar hidden in storage containers by a canal. But safety is an illusion in this twisted game of cat and mouse.

With each revelation, the line between prankster and predator blurs. Are Donal's friends elaborate hoaxers or is something more sinister at play? As the group holes up in an abandoned brickyard, the truth proves more elusive - and dangerous - than ever.

"D.r.i.p.n.e.c.k." is a genre-defying roller coaster that will keep you guessing until the very last frame. Is Donal losing his mind, or is he the only sane one in a world gone mad? Can he unravel the mystery and save his friends - including himself - before it's too late? One thing's for sure: after this night, nothing will ever be the same.
