SYNOPSIS:
Ronnie (Veronica) became a paraplegic in a car accident when she was two. Her mother died in this accident, and her father remarried a single mother with a child, Lisa. Ronnie and Lisa have opposite personalities, but are very good friends. A new boy, Keith, moves into the neighborhood while Lisa is on a trip with her mother. Ronnie becomes very close with Keith, and they even share a sweet little kiss. Then Lisa comes back. The romance seems to stop, but Ronnie still has hope as she and Lisa spend the rest of the summer with Keith. Without much to add, Lisa stays in the background, while Ronnie and Keith continue to connect in their endless debates. Ronnie starts to feel a change in Keith, but Lisa is sure that Keith’s feelings for Ronnie are romantic. A short time into the school year, Lisa changes her mind and decides that Ronnie should move on from her infatuation with Keith.
During Christmas break, Lisa and Keith are caught by Ronnie exchanging a quick kiss. When Lisa realizes that Ronnie saw, she quickly runs to her and tells her that the kiss she witnessed meant nothing. This is when Ronnie finds out that Keith has been trying to get Lisa to go out with him since the being of the school year. Lisa is still in touch with a boyfriend that moved across the country, and she isn’t interested in going out with Keith. Ronnie feels like a fool, and refuses to forgive Lisa for not letting her know what was going on. Lisa is filled with guilt and decides to go live with her Aunt Rita. While Lisa is away, Ronnie gets into her music, practicing for her audition into Juilliard. She gets into Juilliard, and she finds that she is no longer mad at Lisa. Ronnie has big regrets on how she handled the situation with Lisa and Keith. At spring break, Ronnie tries to get Lisa to stay home, but Lisa is on a journey of her own and goes back to her Aunt’s to finish off the school year. When Lisa comes home at the end of the school year, she tells Ronnie about her time at Aunt Rita’s and the things that happened that helped her become a stronger person. The two girls come together, forgiving themselves and each other. Last of all they reconcile with Keith.
