AUSTRALIAN WW2 HISTORICAL FICTION 'MATRON' - P.O.C SHORT/FEATURETTE

LOGLINE:

An Aussie Army Nurse discovers her brother's World War 2 conscription and is determined to stop at nothing to bring him home, at all costs.

SYNOPSIS:

1 - We're taken back to 1940, one year since the start of World War 2, and conscription to the western front has reached Australia. A call to arms, with one family member missing; Ruth's scared sh*tless 18-year-old brother, Johnny.

2 - Ruth fed up with systems keeping her in place, escapes her contemporary life and infiltrates a man's world to find Johnny herself. She has no such luck finding him in training at assigned encampments, recent conscripted soldiers were apparently sent to the frontline to complete their training...

3 - Frontline trenches: mud, cigarettes, gangrene, death, debris, artillery and mortar shelling spatter, smoking barrels. The thick of it. Ruth scavenges trenches and a wasteland as their battlefield, searching for her lost brother. Can she bring him home?
