Ascension wasn't what Galen expected. Now, he must work to prove he is more than just an underdog outsider that is expected to fail.

SYNOPSIS:

We meet Galen and his friends as they participate in yet another festival, as they discuss the state of the world. We then meet Blair and her friends as they too participate in their own festival where the technology glitches resulting in her being detained for inadvertently causing the chaos. Galen and friends get informed that this year, yet again males are not going to be considered for ascension. Galen gets informed by his female friend, Mary, that their project is causing problems, he concedes to help.

At the selection we meet a boy who has decided he is good enough to brute force his way into consideration, he is quickly relived of that idea as Galen gets to work helping Mary. He gets caught and accidently reveals to the judge that he can read their secret language. Despite the odds, Galen and Mary are selected.

The ascension sees Galen and Mary not doing to well and Blair reveals she is a legacy, and thus had to be adopted by on of the most powerfull houses in the world, she also convinces her new guardian that Galen might be worth investing in, and he too is adopted.

We see the trials they would have had to participate in as well as some local issues they must endure.

On a back to school shopping trip Galen gets arrested for trespassing.
