Wanting to spend winter break away from the "noise" of her co-workers
and students, a harmoniously single choir teacher unexpectedly finds
love when she relectantly accepts the principal’s last-minute proposal to conduct a
group of middle school misfits in their first Regional Christmas Choral
Competition. (PITCH PERFECT meets HAPPIEST SEASON)
SYNOPSIS:
CECILIA, a 30-something choir teacher with a passion for Renaissance music, struggles to control the overall dissonance limiting her job at a private middle school in Chicago. She loves her students but is frustrated by the continued neglect of the music department. Cecilia and her fellow performing arts teachers feel defeated by PRINCIPAL DOWNEY and her stereotypical favoritism toward sports-related programs. Further disappointed by the news that her promising Madrigal Choir didn't make regionals, Cecilia looks forward to a much-needed winter break away from work.
During an awkward holiday staff party, Cecilia's colleagues try to lift her spirits by setting her up on a date with the handsome new physical education teacher, "MR. GYM." As the unwanted matchmaking efforts of her colleagues crescendo, Cecilia is called away by Principal Downey. She tells Cecilia that the Madrigals are now eligible to compete in their first Regional Christmas Choral Competition due to another school's sudden elimination. Cecilia's excitement turns to overwhelm as she’s reminded that the contest is only a week away and her students have already started winter break!
Pressured to win the coveted Choral Award and cash prize that could advance her department, Cecilia faces several obstacles brought on by the choir's dysfunctional parents while simultaneously dodging Mr. Gym's romantic gestures. Anxiously dealing with unrealistic personal and professional demands, Cecilia's perfectionism takes over, causing depressive doubt within herself. Through the power of music, Cecilia learns to accept life's imperfections by finding harmony amongst the discord, receiving everything she needs from her students, their parents, and the beautifully ambitious principal...whom she's unexpectedly fallen for.
