An agnostic single mother and her moody Catholic daughter find their lives upended when the family's estranged patriarch returns, now a fervent believer in a bizarre Christian doomsday sect.
SYNOPSIS:
After returning home to Waterbury, Connecticut from college, Sarah's lethargic and cynical daughter, Dana, has unexpectedly embraced Catholicism. Lacking charisma and a social circle, Dana makes no effort to find a job and instead immerses herself in writing a morbid book on the history of on-air suicides in American television. Their lives take a dramatic turn when Robert, Dana's father and Sarah's estranged husband who had abandoned the family shortly after Dana's birth, reappears on their doorstep. Claiming to have reevaluated his life, Robert's transformation is soon revealed to be the result of his involvement in a Christian doomsday sect, fervently believing in the imminent Second Coming and the necessity of repentance.
