HOW TO KILL HAIKU

HOW TO KILL HAIKU
By Ruhollah Ghayem

GENRE: Western, Sci-fi
LOGLINE: After his family is killed in a demolition ordered by a ruthless developer, a man assembles a team to infiltrate the developer’s fortress, not for revenge, but to steal his fortune and incite a war.

SYNOPSIS:

Haiku is a successful developer determined to modernize the traditional, vibrant city of Abada. The city’s warm and humid climate is matched by its residents' energetic and lively spirit, and its landscape is filled with one-story villas, street food vendors, and bustling alleyways. Haiku’s vision for modernization involves buying up properties, and when owners refuse to sell, he resorts to intimidation and destruction of surrounding areas to force them out. One day, demolition machines arrive at a neighboring house, causing the adjacent home of a man named Gholu to collapse, killing his wife and daughter. With no legal recourse and driven by grief and rage, Gholu vows to kill Haiku. However, Haiku's company is a fortress with multiple layers of security, making such an act nearly impossible. Gholu seeks help from his community but finds no volunteers until he manages to rally five individuals. Together, they form a plan to infiltrate Haiku’s building. The plan goes awry, and they are captured, but this too is part of their strategy. The true objective is not assassination but to rob Haiku of his immense wealth stored on the top floor of his building. By stealing Haiku’s fortune, Gholu and his team leave him financially crippled and indebted to powerful regional warlords. The theft sparks a larger conflict as surrounding cities see an opportunity to attack and dismantle Haiku’s empire, setting off a chain reaction that leads to war and upheaval, with Gholu’s act of vengeance igniting a rebellion against tyranny.
