SYNOPSIS:

The story begins in the 18th century, in the Indian Ocean, where David is born on a pirate ship. After 14 years of imprisonment, he and his mother, Sonia, attempt to escape, but the failure of their mission results in David being punished with isolation in a suffocating cell. Desperate, David carves on the wooden wall the phrase "my soul is free". Through his unshakable belief in these words, he creates an otherworldly escape route in the form of a liquid tunnel, which miraculously leads him to his mother's cell, where he saves her from the malevolent intentions of a pirate. Sonia’s husband, Jim, unaware that he is David's father, is imprisoned for piracy. Driven by anxiety about his wife's fate, he breaks out, determined to set Sonia free from the bonds of his own brother, Captain Cup, commander of the pirate ship "The Other Side". The survival limits for David are narrowing more and more, as captain Cup's crew challenges his powers with ever tougher trials. Through the liquid tunnel David experiences freedom and provides life-saving aid to those in need, such as the future mother of his child, Daniela. Jim ends up on a pirate ship under the ruthless control of Captain Wraith. Trained by a prisoner, he musters unknown strengths inside him, to face even the Captain’s anger after his finding that Jim's brother killed his son. As tension rises, Jim and David, now aware of their bond, fight to rescue Sonia. The naval galley's attack at Captain Cup's stronghold sinks "The Other Side". Jim tries to bring his wounded brother out of the water, but just before he achieves it, his fate is sealed by a gunshot. Moments later, Captain Cup takes his last breath in David’s arms. Sonia, now safe, joins her son and Daniela in their pursuit of a peaceful life. David continues to follow the calls of the liquid tunnel, fulfilling every mission it secretly assigns him. And yet, the authorities, accusing David of piracy, put him to death. Years later, young Jim, David's son, brings to Sonia and Daniela a piece of a shipwrecked plank he found at sea. To their great surprise, they read on the piece of wood the phrase that David had carved on the cell wall of "The Other Side": my soul is free.
