SYNOPSIS:
With the weight of two worlds and the survival of three species, Spera learns what it means to be human.
This project will be flipped into a screenplay once the novelization process is complete. Prologue: Hear me and hear me well, for I am the universe and I have a story to tell. This is a story of two worlds that are vastly different from one another yet need one another whether they realize it or not. One world (according to the unknowing humans) exists in a constellation known to them as Pisces-Cetus. It is a quiet and peaceful world with highly intelligent and technologically advanced beings known as the Mauwelins. The Mauwelins were much like the humans long ago on their world only they are godless. They survived the adolescence of technology, learned to be rid of greed and to help one another in order to better their own species. Yes, they still have emotions but have learned to keep the emotions in check so that they can look at everything in an objective way. They remind me all to well of the monks from Earth from so long ago. However, they do not exist within the confines of two genders. There are three. Yes, they do have male and female genders. Of those two genders there is not much of a difference between them. They both stand equally tall at five foot ten; have equal physical strength, gold eyes (with a second set of eyelids that is brown and allows them to see during the light thirteen), gold colored skin to match the environment of their planet, quite small ears with gills for a nose and slightly webbed feet and hands. With each new generation the webbing gets smaller. From birth they have full knowledge of their parentage and all of their parent’s memories as well as the memories of those before them. Their hair is dark brown (in color) and grows down the middle of their heads and is braided. The older they are, the longer their hair is. This represents age. They grow rapidly from birth to the age of five, only growing five years per one. When they reach maturity (which is the age of five) their growth rate slows down extremely to which they only age one year per ten. Their life expectancy is 800 Earth years. They are nocturnal and only require six hours of sleep during the light thirteen. The only two differences between the male and female gender are that the female have small breasts (due to long ago when they only had two genders) as well as their faces are more feminine looking. Now, the third race of their species is mightily different. They are called the Cogenitors. There are differences between the Cogenitors and the male/female members of the species. The most noticeable difference is that the Cogenitor stands at six foot two. They are the greatest warriors of the Mauwelins and yet have the softest of hearts and wisest of minds. The other and not so noticeable difference is the fact of the jobs of the Cogenitor. Their jobs are that they are the ones that carry the offspring, care for them, and teach them until full maturity. Each member of the species can only reproduce three times with each birth being different than the last. One male equals one female equals one Cogenitor. When they reproduce it is a beautiful process. First the female of the species starts to emit a hue of red to signify that she is ready to reproduce. Next, her genetic match from the male side starts to emit a hue of blue. From there the genetic match of them of the cogenitors emits a hue of purple. When they all inter-connect via their genitalia the hue turns to a blinding bright pure white yet opalescent color. The Cogenitor then carries the offspring for three months. The offspring always takes the name of the Cogenitor as their last name. The first birth is always female. The second is male and the third is a Cogenitor. However, the Cogenitors are dying at an alarming rate only completing a minimum of two births. Rarely is there a third birth. This upsets the balance. They used to number in the billions. Now there are only a few million left all huddled in cities. Why are they dying? Is the species evolving? They don’t know why this is happening to them. They have tried for centuries to heal and help themselves. They’ve tried all that they could with their science. Cloning was a failure because the clones could not reproduce. They tried using the fourth dimension and failed as it seriously damaged the events to come. Then they unknowingly killed their planet by trying to control the elements. The planet fought back. It was no longer a desert planet. It was growing tall green leafy things and water fell from the sky from white puffy things. The torrential waters destroyed their crops and the Mauwelin’s could no longer go without clothing. They now had to wear robes to protect themselves from the elements and breathing masks that circled their heads like a crown with thin tubing coming down from the forehead part of the crown, down between their eyes and covering their gill-like noses. Wearing the breathing masks was a small price to pay for what they had done. They had no idea of just how big of a price they would have to pay in the end when all was said and done on that fateful night as I overheard them when they held senate. Chapter One: The Mauwelin’s Decide “Clang, clang, clang” went the gong as the eldest Mauwelin named Ducis Vaishnava called the Senate to session. The room fell silent as Ducis rose from the seat and said in an authoritative tone “It is agreed by the entirety of our species, that since all of our attempts to save ourselves have proved fruitless we are to leave our world in search of another. We will start our preparations immediately when the next Dark Thirteen begins by recycling everything and building more ships to join the ones that we already have. Let us leave nothing to show that we once existed on this world. From here I will go home to work on the schedules needed to keep us on task and I will post them on the computer. Be well my fellows.” “Be well” exclaimed everyone in unison in the gallery. Ducis then tapped the small gong three times to draw the session to a close. Everyone then stood up from their seats and went towards the doors gathering up their robes and hovering umlights to go to their homes and rest up for the upcoming task. Ducis pushes the door open and enters the outdoors. The rains are falling and falling hard they are. It is almost the Light Thirteen. Ducis holds the umlight above the head and turns it on so that the light will show the path home. It emits a calming hum as it gives shelter from the rains. Ducis walks sadly thinking that much is to be done. Ducis worries if it was truly the right decision. Silently pondering the thought of the decision Ducis then pushes it aside realizing that it is the right thing to do. The planet no longer is capable of giving them the foods or the air that they need. They must make sacrifices for the betterment of their species. Ducis knows that they will all miss their home. For now, thanks is given that the walk home is not far. As Ducis approaches the door it opens automatically as it senses the proper D.N.A. It is quiet inside as all members of the species live separately. It is only the Cogenitors that share their homes with the younger Mauwelins. There is no younger Mauwelin in Ducis’ home because Ducis can no longer bear offspring. The last time that Ducis had a youth in the home was nearly four hundred years ago. The Mauwelins do not know the words family or marriage. Upon entering the unit, Ducis notices that it is now the first hour of the Light Thirteen. Slightly tired but Ducis must forge ahead removing the protective robe hanging it on the wall. Across the room Ducis walks to the computer then sits at the desk to start work on the schedules to assign every capable Mauwelin their tasks for the work that is ahead of them if they are to leave this world. Hours later, sitting alone in silence with only the breathing mask on for four hours, happily the chore is done. The schedules have been posted to everyone’s computer. Sleep now beckons but first meditation is done to center the thoughts, body and soul. For the next hour Ducis sits with legs crossed in a chair that hovers halfway between the ceiling and the floor while listening to the chants that can be heard in every Mauwelin dwelling. It is now the fifth hour of the Light Thirteen and it is time for sleep. Walking weakly to the sleeping chamber, the door opens and Ducis walks through. The door closes behind. A button is pushed on a panel on the wall that removes all of the gravity in the room so that sleep is possible in complete weightlessness. Drifting off to sleep Ducis says “Yes. We made the right decision”. Feelings of confidence and deep excitement are soon overwhelmed as both sets of eyelids draw to a close. Six hours later the chants start and awaken Ducis. Pushing off of the wall to reach the panel across the room provides a small challenge in the seven-hundred-fifty-two year old body of Ducis. Finally the button is pushed and gravity returns to the room. Ducis feels well rested and is ready to tackle this cycle. But first, more meditation. With the meditation done Ducis is now free to eat the daily meal that consists of nuts, berries, fruits and vegetables that have been grown in an indoor garden on the top floor of the building. After the meal, cleaning of oneself is done and the work from the previous cycle is checked. It appears that everyone has agreed to the schedule. Ducis then takes the robe from the wall and puts it on before leaving the dwelling to walk a very short distance to one of the five courtyards for exercises. It is now the twelfth hour of the Light Thirteen. All Mauwelins are there. They all are there to usher in the Dark Thirteen. This is their way. This has been their ritual since the dawn of their consciousness. Again, the chants are heard everywhere. Once the chants end, everyone goes towards their newly designated tasks. Ducis makes way to a new task for Ducis is the one that oversees everything. Upon arrival at the new task station Ducis notices that everyone is excited. Ducis curiously asks “What’s all of the excitement about?” A middle-aged Mauwelin happily replied with “We’ve gotten a message from the ship Traba that left about a thousand years ago. They say that they have found a new home and that all are welcome!” “Well, I suppose that this calls for us to step up our plans!” said Ducis with a broad smile. This was great news indeed! This meant that there would be a Senate hearing by the end of the Dark Thirteen. Once again Ducis banged the gong and called to order the Senate. Debates went about on both sides. Then a vote was held. It was agreed to as a whole (via the Senate) that there would be double shifts to complete the task of building the ships. Instead of five of their weeks (each week is five cycles long), it would take two and a half to complete the ships. They would set sail to this new world at the end of three weeks and travel for seven and a half centuries. That is nearly an entire lifetime for a Mauwelin! The ships would have to be generational and have cryo-chambers. When the Senate came to a close Ducis returned home to rewrite the schedules. One half of the population would work the Light shift and the remaining half would work the Dark shift. Ducis would stay with the Dark shift; after all, Ducis is the over-seerer. Chapter Two: Lift-off On the thirteenth cycle they have successfully recycled everything and completed the two ships. Navis would carry the most people and Ireitum would carry the remaining persons and supplies. Ducis is careful with the inspections to make sure that all systems are operational. “Cryo-chambers? Cloaks? Weapons? Gardens? Supplies? Shields? Transporters? The Universal Time Matrix? Did I miss anything?” yelled Ducis into the armband located on the right forearm to the male first officer named Tonsure Sangha. Tonsure raises his right arm and with his left index finger touched a button and replied with “Tonsure here. No, I don’t think that you missed anything. All systems are a go and I am happy to report that they are all operating above all of our expectations Captain”. “Captain” Ducis relished the thought of oneself being the captain and leading the species to a new world. It was finally Ducis’ turn to do what could be done for the betterment of all. Ducis grew up hearing about the ship Traba. Oh, there were wishes that one was alive in those times so they could have been on that ship. Ducis loves the stars and the infinite possibilities of hope that each new star could bring. On this cycle Ducis is quite thankful for the well learned lessons of the stars and science by the Cogenitor Rassaphore Vaishnava. Ducis then boards the Ireitum and again checks all systems before signing it off to its captain, Pemjet Vajrayana. Pemjet is a female and her first officer is the Cogenitor Bhikkhu Patimokkha. Off all of these four beings, Ducis is the oldest, then Tonsure then Pemjet then Bhikkhu. It is Ducis, Tonsure and Pemjet that head the Senate. However, they do not lead the entire species. It is the entire species that leads them. It is now their duty to make sure that no one and nothing is left behind. Ducis will lead all of the Cogenitors, shift by shift to their respective ships. Tonsure will lead the males and Pemjet will lead the females. Three cycles after the completion of the ships and their inspections they are now all aboard and ready for take off from the surface. They will follow the path of the Traba and avoid all areas of conflict that the Traba came in contact with. With that fact and at high warp speed the two ships should be able to make it to this brave new world in four-hundred-ninety-four years. With great power fueling them, the ships lift off of the ground. The pedestals pull in and then both of the ships disappear, only to reappear in orbit of their world. The ship Navis then releases a grappling arm and pulls in the time beacon and the transport beacon. Once that is done the ships are put into auto-pilot and the chants begin. Everyone then sits and crosses their legs where they were standing. There is no room on the ships for communal chants or exercises. On every monitor and the main screen on the bridges, their world gets smaller and smaller. As that is happening Ducis’ inner voice wonders about surviving the trip and seeing this new world. Ducis knows that the odds aren’t good. But maybe… just maybe… with the cryo-chambers… Ducis might see this new world. We will see. Chapter Three: The Long Road to a new Home In the Mauwelin year of 196,564 and in the cycle of the 146th. (in the 318th. year of their travel) Tonsure, Pemjet and Bhikkhu are summoned to Ducis’ chamber. It appears that the cryo-chamber has failed. Ducis is dead at the age of 1,070. The long life of Ducis was only possible by means of the cryo-chamber. Ducis should have been dead by the 50th. year of their travels. Tonsure, Pemjet and Bhikkhu look at one another eerily. They know that either one of them could be next, yet each one is thankful that their chambers have not failed. Each one wonders if they will truly make it alive to this new world. Pemjet is now the captain of the Navis with Bhikkhu as the first officer and Tonsure now captains the Ireitum and chooses the middle aged Cogenitor Moksha Samsara. It is Tonsure’s hope that Moksha will be alive and healthy to enjoy the final reward of seeing the new home of the Mauwelin’s for Moksha is considered to be young enough and yet wise enough to lead if and when the time calls. Tonsure worries much thus adding great stress to his livelihood. Eventually the stress takes its toll on Tonsure. He departs the world of the Mauwelin’s. Pemjet and Bhikkhu have also passed. Pemjet of natural causes due to age and Bhikkhu committed suicide because the offspring brought shame onto the Great House of Patimokkha. It is now the 473rd. year of their travels and Moksha captains the Navis with the female Acharya Kshullak. The Cogenitor Ahimsa Sannyasi captains the Ireitum with the first male officer of Dwaita Terapanthi. So now it is Moksha, Acharya and Dwaita that lead the Senate. It is now the 494th. year and they have reached their goal. As they approach this world they notice that it is the third planet from a yellow sun. They scan the history of the planet from beginning to end in search of the Mauwelin’s from the Traba. While searching they see the history of the planet, of the species that once inhabited it until a catastrophic tragedy happened that annihilated all of them. It was this tragedy that made the planet (eventually) hospitable for the Mauwelin’s. While watching the history of this planet they came to learn that the planet is named Earth and the species calls themselves Humans. The Navis finally locates the Traba. It is in the Atacama Desert of Chile in South America and roughly 100,000 of their years after the humans have been extinct. Both the Navis and Ireitum enter the atmosphere of Earth to settle near the Traba. Both ships break apart and land in six pieces into a star shape with the biggest located in the center. After each piece lands, they all begin to rise into spiral shapes with the largest piece transforming into the tallest of the other five. It has been a long cycle for the Mauwelin’s but they still need to hold Senate as soon as possible to discuss the best course of action to solve the problem of the Cogenitor’s dying. They hold Senate as if nothing has changed. They feel confident that Earth is their new home and will be for the rest of time. Moksha, Acharya and Dwaita lead the Senate in a vote to pursue the human history to see if their genetics can perhaps help them to save the Cogenitors. Some balk at the idea of the genetics of another species inter-mingling with their own yet others realize that maybe… just maybe… this is just what they need. The yes votes over power the nay votes. Moksha tells that they will go forth into the past and “borrow” some humans so that their scientists can experiment and hopefully save their species. The gong clangs three times calling to close the Senate. Everyone leaves the gallery free of robes and air masks. This is how it was meant to be for them. It truly was a brave new world for them. Now… if they could only solve the problem of the Cogenitors. Chapter Four: The Brave New World… of experiments. The Mauwelin’s hold Senate again and agree that the best course of action is to go back into the time of the planet and abduct/borrow humans during the times of their wars. They started with the human time of the American Civil War. It is at that time that they concentrated on “borrowing” the male of the species, for it was the males of the species that was so prevalent in the wars. The Mauwelin’s knew that they could get away with this because the species as a whole was not as advanced as them. In other words, the humans were stupid. They (the humans) truly did not have much when it came to recording deaths, etc. So far the experiments yielded nothing but they forged on. The Mauwelin’s started to include other races of the human species such as the Asians from World War II, the Africans of Ethiopia due to starvation, the Hispanics from the time of when Santa Ana ruled the military and the Native-Americans from the Western European invasion. It was all to no avail! It was not until the Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts of the early 2000’s that drew the attention of the Mauwelins to the fact that the American people allowed more females of the species into the wars. The males of the human species failed in impregnating the Cogenitors. Perhaps the females could yield the help that they so desired. They started with the nurses from World War II. They could not impregnate them at all. Then they stumbled upon an already pregnant human female. They were able to change the D.N.A. in utero. This held hope for them. Each pregnancy lasted six months. The offspring was born being one-third Mauwelin and two-thirds human. Once the offspring reached the maturity of the age of five, it could not reproduce with the Cogenitors. It was a loss but not too much to the Mauwelin’s as they utilized those offspring by turning them into militaristic drones. It wasn’t until they came across Mila. She was an American female serving in the Iraq war in the human year of 2007. There was something very special about the baby that she unknowingly carried. Chapter Five: Mila and Leo Mila was born and raised in the small town of Hermiston, Oregon. Leo (which is short for Leonidas… a great warrior from the battle of 300) was born and raised in Arizona.
