For images and info see http://thefeatherkeeper.blogspot.com. Also, find the novel at Amazon.com In 1889, a murderous land baron named Manley Jeffers, killed an entire family of former slaves (the Freemans) after their former master, Jeremiah Howard, bequeathed them one thousand acres of his plantation for not leaving him after emancipation. Among the murder victims of this heinous crime was a sweet natured 12 year old boy named Isaiah. From that murder arose a ghost story about a Cerberus-like hellhound that lives in the low-country forests of Edisto Island and which protects the murdered boy's grave and a secret buried with him. That secret is a deed which can prove the ownership of the one thousand acres bequeathed to the Freemans, which today is the resort town of Edisto Beach; and every Jeffers from Manley to the present day William has scoured the island for it. But – none has found it. Today what remains of Jeremiah Howard's modern-day family has just returned to Edisto to reclaim what is left of their ancestral home and with them their 12 year son Kirk, who unbeknownst to his parents is supernaturally and forever bound to the ghost of Isaiah Freeman and the bone-crushing poltergeist that guards his grave and its secret.
