SYNOPSIS:

Series Synopsis: The Bagram Diaries is a 'based on actual events' drama that tells the story of civilian contractors working on Bagram Airbase in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from 2004 to the present. It centers around a fictional company known as CIVCAP (the Civilian Capacity Augmentation Project; a Black Water/KBR/DynCorp composite) which is hired by the government to provide combat service support functions to the military assigned to Bagram. Built on a foundation of overseas construction and logistics work, CIVCAP moves into the world of combat support and service support to the military by hiring former military personnel to perform military-like functions side by side with their military counterparts. No other conflicts have ever been so dependent upon civilian labor and expertise. While nearly 40% of the CIVCAP force is former military, 60% are out and out civilians who have never been involved in military operations, deployments, or dangers. Taken as a whole; the war, the military and civilian combined mission, the austerity of the terrain, the mixing of ‘normal’ civilians and military vets and active duty, day-to-day life at Bagram is dramatic, traumatic, humorous, and at times deadly. The Bagram Diaries is told through the eyes of the CIVCAP Security Manager, Jerry Paul, a retired army Lieutenant Colonel who meticulously keeps a hand written diary of his day’s activities. He numbers his entries in day and chronological number; i.e. Monday 4 (meaning the fourth Monday since he arrived to the project). The series begins on Thursday 53; one year after Jerry’s arrival.
