When Terry takes a summer job as a server at a popular Atlanta diner before starting college, he finds himself immersed in the antics of the eccentric staff and regulars who frequent the iconic eatery.

SYNOPSIS:

Terry is a 19-year old Black kid who has moved from Cincinnati to Atlanta to attend Georgia State University (GSU) in the fall. He is temporarily staying with his Uncle Kurt while working a summer job before school starts. Terry is hired as a new server at The Morning Griddle, a popular local diner franchise known for its wild atmosphere and menu.

On Terry's chaotic first night working at The Griddle, he meets the quirky staff including the manager Leroy, cooks Lori and Arad, and other servers Kino and Mickey. He also encounters some unruly customers like Slink, Mickey's aggressive ex-boyfriend, and Tony "Two-Teeth," a disgruntled regular. Tensions escalate when Tony complains about the food and later returns with his crew looking to start trouble. A massive brawl breaks out involving the staff enthusiastically defending the diner. During the melee, Terry impresses everyone by landing a solid punch on Titty Tycoon, one of Tony's boys. However, Titty Tycoon KOs Terry with a hard counterpunch.

When Terry eventually comes to, he learns he was unconscious for the last few hours of his shift. Terry catches a ride home with Arad, who commends him for jumping into the brawl on his first night and having the staff's back. Despite the wild events, Terry feels a sense of belonging with his new coworkers. He returns to his Uncle Kurt’s with a black eye. He receives an email from GSU, getting some upsetting news about his pending scholarship.
