With the aid of a mysterious man, a woman and her son go on the run from an abusive husband and his brother – a sadistic cop – only to discover her rescuer has his own plans for her.
SYNOPSIS:
Beneath the surface of NINA HOLT’S perfect marriage lurks a life of terror inflicted upon her by her husband MICHAEL and his brother GREG, a sadistic detective. For over a decade they have managed to keep Nina imprisoned, using her to satisfy their every whim. Worse still, the only light in her life—her 9-year-old son, Sam—considers Michael a hero. When Sam imitates his father’s violence by lashing out at her, Nina knows it’s time for both of them to escape before Sam truly turns into the monster Michael is grooming him to become.
In her haste to escape, Nina crashes the car not far from home. Stranded and desperate to get away before Michael returns, she accepts a ride from stranger CASE HERDER. Little does she know, it’s no accident Case just happened to come along at that very moment.
When the brothers discover Nina has fled with Sam, Greg reports the escape as an abduction and enlists the police force to flush her out, blocking every exit out of Tasmania, ensuring she can’t escape to the mainland and disappear.
Cornered, Nina takes Case up on his offer to hide them at his home. But when she goes snooping, she discovers Case was the prime suspect in his wife’s murder. Just as she realizes he has sinister intentions of his own, he catches her going through his personal belongings.
While they’re distracted, Sam – desperate to get back to the father he loves – takes the opportunity to phone Michael and reveal their location.
Backed into a corner, Nina must decide to stay and face Michael and Greg, or go on the run with a man she doesn’t know and can’t trust. Choosing to take her chances with Case, she ignites a deadly game of cat and mouse as her abusers relentlessly hunt them down to Cradle Mountain where Nina has no choice but to face evil head-on.
