SYNOPSIS:

"Invisible Man” is the film adaptation of the autobiography written by Darryl Moore. This story shows the audience Darryl’s life from a troubled youth to his success on the stage and screen. As a child, he was misdiagnosed with ADD/HD. No one knew at the time, that Darryl was actually bi-polar. This wasn’t discovered until he was 39. A child who was trying to cope was mislabeled as being a discipline problem. The remedy at that time was to heavily medicate children deemed to have behavior issues. Darryl encountered a teacher so cruel that she isolated him behind a six foot high cardboard box for almost half a school year until he told his mother what was being done to him each day. His childhood was no picnic. He had to fight almost every day.

When he entered college, people placed bets on how long Darryl would last before he dropped out. After college, he was never able to get a job paying much even though he has a Masters Degree. Stress and mounting bills led to tension between Darryl and his wife. While he was being treated for depression and unresolved issues, he was diagnosed with cancer, a disease his mother and uncle were also battling. Things got worse when he faced sixty years in prison and dealt with his uncle’s death. Everything came down on him at once and he had a nervous breakdown.

Determined to rise above his plight, Darryl finally answered the call that was burning inside him. While watching a comedy show, he boldly proclaimed, “I can do that too”! After he participated in an open mic show, his girlfriend made good on her threat that she’d abort the baby she was carrying, and she kicked him out. She was six and a half months pregnant with a girl. He was homeless for a brief period sleeping in his truck. Grief stricken over the death of his daughter, he became deeply depressed. Nightmares and sleepless nights almost destroyed him. He was battling this for almost two years while entertaining crowds at comedy clubs and pursuing his acting career.

Considering some of the things he's gone through -- bouts with cancer, depression, jail, the death of his daughter and being homeless -- you wouldn't think he has much to smile about. But he does smile. He not only smiles, he has overcome. Through prayer, faith, forgiveness, and perseverance, Darryl Moore carved out a niche for himself in the entertainment world.
