He had been seduced and attacked by Jasmine, a vampire.

Recovering from his assault and tired of the lack of progress on his family’s case, Spenser starts looking for the messianic killer to exact revenge. Struggling with a strange craving for blood, Spenser searches the Goth bars for clues. After a night of searching, his blood burning with a fever, Spenser is attacked. The attack triggers his vampire powers and he kills both attackers, one by draining her blood.

Balancing his ever strengthening desires and powers with his sense of right and wrong, Spenser unabashedly uses his supernatural powers to find the and slowly succumbs to the seduction of the Underworld. Realizing Spenser is on a vendetta; Will and Joe keep a watch on him while following clues that lead them to a suspect, Parker Sutherland. The case twists for Will and Joe when bodies start turning up, inexplicably drained of blood, with a coincidental connection to Spenser. Finding the key to Parker’s killing pattern, Will and Joe set up watch for Parker using Spenser as their unsuspecting guide. But as more bodies turn up drained of blood, Will realizes that logic must be thrown out and that a myth has become reality in the form of Spenser Brooks. Parker strikes again, bringing together the spiraling paths of Will, Joe, and Spenser at a warehouse. Spenser attacks Parker setting free his latest victims and sets the warehouse on fire. Will and Joe charge into the warehouse with a SWAT team, only to watch Spenser kill Parker by jumping into the blazing inferno.
