Brothers Tate and Delsin Hakan lead their tight-knit crew of treasure hunters across the galaxy of Daciatira and back, searching for fortune and glory while trying to keep ahead of pirates, thieves and rival treasure hunters.
SYNOPSIS:
In one sentence, “Galaxy Raiders” is “Indiana Jones” meets “Firefly”.
Already ancient while the Earth was still cooling, Daciatira was once a galaxy teeming with life. Countless civilizations have risen and fallen over the ages leaving wrecks, relics, and ruins in every planetary system. In short, it's a treasure hunter's paradise.
The Hakan brothers, Tate and Delsin, are third generation treasure hunters. Their family and their ship 'THE CRAZY GRACE' are well known across the galaxy. They’re recognized as fair traders and honest men. Along with their crack team, they roam the stars searching for fortunes lost to the ages. That crack team consisting of: Zuri the ship’s alien pilot, Jacy the navigator, Lady “L.B.” Byron the Salvage Officer, Tino the Engineer, Asatira the Historian, and Faolan the "Diplomat" and Head Chef.
We join our dauntless crew in the midst of a somewhat routine treasure hunt. And by routine, I mean unable to find the treasure and being attacked by pirates. The leader of which is Delsin’s ex-girlfriend. After regrouping and making repairs, they realize that they’ve acquired a stowaway. Gyasi, a 10 year old boy who is being hunted by a small, violent group of men.
The crew, being a patchwork family of their own and knowing what it’s like to be alone in the Universe, quickly take the kid under their wing. After successfully rebuffing Gyasi’s pursuers twice, the crew adopt him as one of their own. At least until they find out where he really belongs. If there even is such a place. A decision they’re quick to make as it’s just who they are. They’re good people at heart. It’s what keeps them together and keeps them succeeding.
After finally retrieving their prize while fighting off another pirate attack, a wrinkle presents itself. The brothers discover that Gyasi may be the key to a treasure so massive it’s rumored to dwarf the rest of the Galaxy’s riches combined. The Lost Treasure of Aeron-Major. A mythical fortune the truth of which has been scattered across the tides of time. It also explains why violent men are so doggedly pursuing some random street kid.
With the prospect of having found the key to the mythical lost treasure, the hunt starts anew and in secret. For if people found out who Gyasi really is, he would be hunted for the rest of his days.
At its heart, the show is a light, fun, hour-long action adventure. The stories revolve around the crew searching for and trying to recover lost treasures and relics on planets all over the galaxy. Across wildly diverse cultures and civilizations. Human and alien alike. But there will be serious moments peppered in to counterpoint the fun. Dangers lurk alongside hidden treasures, and abandoned places don’t always stay abandoned. Not to mention structurally sound. There will be many moments in dark temples avoiding traps and cheating death.
The show has a certain spirit. A fun back and forth. Laughing in the face of danger. Silliness and shenanigans. The humor comes from the characters though. The situations and the danger will be real. The stakes are high and business is business. This is the Indiana Jones part of the story. Mysterious locations filled with traps and false doors. ‘Run for your lives’ will really mean ‘run for your lives’. But the more serious the danger, the sharper the humor. The humor is how they relate. The humor is how they survive. And, whenever one of them screws up, they never hear the end of it. Especially when it’s one of the brothers. Because we all know how brothers can be.
While the show is set in a distant galaxy in the distant future, the tone is very grounded. It’s not a dark, nihilistic, dystopian future where we’re all doomed and oppressed. It’s a bunch of different worlds and a cornucopia of people and aliens just doing their thing and making a living. There will be plenty of downtime between jobs. Strategizing over pancakes at the diner. Screwing around in old alien libraries and museums doing “research”. Hanging out at bars doing karaoke during happy hour. All filled with the arguing and bickering that happens among families, which is what this crew really is. This is a tight-knit group of exceptional people doing what they love and having a grand old time doing it. Treasure hunting is a business and business is awesome.
