SYNOPSIS:
Petra Prinz and Shoshonna Schade are ready to leave their sheltered lives in a small Swiss town and chase their dreams of stardom. Petra dreams of being a movie director, and Shoshonna wants nothing more than to be a dancer on stage. They get their chance when Petra is invited to assist Leni Riefenstahl make her new movie, and Shoshonna gets a job dancing at a cabaret. In 1935, the Nazi party was gaining power throughout Europe, but their reach didn’t extend far into the Swiss Alps. Petra and Shoshonna have never directly experienced Nazi discrimination and laws…until their move to Berlin. In Berlin, things change much more than they expected. They are able to hide their sexual relationship from most people, but no matter how hard she tries, Shoshonna cannot hide the fact that she’s Jewish. Petra’s promise as a filmmaker grows as she works closely with Riefenstahl filming the movie Triumph of the Wills, which will become one of Hitler’s most successful propaganda films. Petra travels to Nuremburg with the film crew for Hitler’s rallies, and she even meets the Fuhrer himself several times. Shoshonna gains some fame with her cabaret act, catching the attention of many people both inside and outside the Berlin underground entertainment industry. Some of this attention is great for her career, but some is detrimental, not just to her career, but also to her life. When a Triumph crew member spies Shoshonna and Petra in an intimate moment, they can’t hide any longer. They are forced to make the ultimate decision: their careers, their love, or their lives?
