It's 1998 and with the millennium around the corner, two slacker friends decide to work the pacific dates of a giant rock tour. Who knew the road trip of a lifetime could teach them a lifetimes’ worth of lessons.
SYNOPSIS:
Smoothie’s aren’t born smooth. It’s 1998, the dawn of the Internet and with the millennium right around the corner; life long friends, Dave and Renny have huge dreams of making it big-- somehow. These two slackers mean well but their lack of focus hinders them from achieving their long-term ambitions. In need of money and direction and thinking they’re going to make some quick cash, see some awesome shows and have a blast as crew roadies for the “Hulabalooza Tour.” However their actual jobs end up being fruit smoothie vendors for Smoothie King and it’s a ton of hard work, no money and not much fun either.
With an amazing 1990s music backdrop, we follow these two buds for the final four tour dates of this iconic 1990s rock show. Between bananas, bongs and bad trips, the two reflect upon their past and pontificate about the gleaming upcoming 21st century and how technology and the continued good times of the Clinton years will soon make their lives a breeze. Their seemingly normal life is turned upside-down though as they enter the world of the Carney. Their four co-workers turn out to be as bizarre as the adventures they get themselves into. It’s only through the crazy and harsh realities of concert touring that they finally find what has so steadily been eluding them.
