THE LAST FRIENDS OF WILE E. COYOTE

GENRE: Adventure, Fantasy
LOGLINE:

A CARTOON BECOMES NO LAUGHING MATTER

SYNOPSIS:

Synopsis:

Three young people strike out in an old car on a soul-searching road trip out into the deep desert. Lifelong inseparable friends, each has their own reasons to venture into the lonely and desolate wastelands. Ella is a neurotic genius who has been forced to live a live she never wanted. She has no other place to go. Vaughn goes in an unlikely attempt to find a beloved uncle who disappeared in the desert decades before. Mike accompanies them in the hopes of shaking off a heartbreaking curse given to him by his own father.

They band together one last time and travel into a strange land which waits to reveal to them more wonders and darker secrets than any of them could have ever imagined. Almost out of gas, they motor along on a long-unused road. After passing through an abandoned town, their car becomes disabled after a freak encounter with a large Acme rocket.

Out of gas in a broken car and with no chance of help, they truely are on their own. Forced to go ahead on foot for help, they forge together into the desert at night, loosely guided by a cryptic map that Vaughn's uncle had given to him when he was only a child. They soon discover that their troubles have only begun.

They walk far into an unknown and forbidden land which defies logic and all sense of reality. After they sneak their way onto a beyond-classified military airbase commanded by a kind but tortured legendary officer, they witness a spectacular and yet entertaining event involving a speedy roadrunner and a determined coyote... carefully-hidden and protected characters that the trio (and everyone else) had previously thought only existed in cartoon-land a half-century before... only this is no cartoon. It is a stark reality in the real world. And they are both real.

Detained as honored guests on the crumbling base, our young band of heros make a few friends along the way and discover that besides the coyote and roadrunner a brilliant human-like race and a secretive ancient tribe of warriors also exist in the far regions of the vast expanses of the doomed base... all of whom would be destroyed if discovered by the outside world. Unfortunately, the word is already out about this collapsing house of cards and a disaster is in the making. A cruel man who is wrongfully bent on a terrible revenge unleashes his evil forces upon innocent peoples who are not prepared for such a costly war of destruction.

At the most crucial point in an epic battle between good and bad, Willie accomplishes his lifetime goal and then comes to question it. And he realizes something else along the way... maybe it was never really just hunger and obsession alone that drove him to pursue the Roadrunner for all these many years.

The time comes for Willie to make things right for his friends and an innocent bird. He unleashes the most diabolical invention he has ever constructed upon the merciless invaders. He is then left with one final mission... a doubtful attempt to save the best friend that he never realized he even had for all of these past decades.

A desparate challenge for all to just survive quickly spirals completely out of control and becomes a hopeless quest for Willie, our three heroes, their friends and the others. All must either fight, hide or run from an unescapable trap. Willie has a life-changing decision to make. He has a new place to go to... and he brings his newest friend with him. Their passing does not go unnoticed by the outside world.

The Last Friends of Willie Coyote is a tale of laughter, tears, determination and hope. Not just merely a telling of Willie's and the Roadrunner's final fate or closure, it is also a riveting story about the test of everyperson's meeting with joy and sorrow, about true friendships and rising above adversity in very difficult and trying times. You may never be the same after this movie... but that is up for you to decide.

FADE IN:

EXT. DESERT ROAD - NIGHT

A car with its headlights off drives fast. It swerves and

SMASHES into a telephone pole. The car bursts into flames.

EXT. DESERT - DAY (ESTABLISHING)

Aerial view of a desert... cliffs, mountains, boulder

formations. A distant large open pit comes into view. Dust

clouds rise from the pit.

NARRATOR

The deserts of the American southwest.

People come here for all sorts of

reasons. Some come to work and live.

Others retire along a lazy riverbank.

A few come to sightsee or camp.

Most however are just passing through

on their way to somewhere else, barely

taking notice of what is going on

outside of their own windshields.

Montage

People at work, recreational vehicles along a riverbank, cars

on the interstate, desert terrain features.

NARRATOR

Everybody has their own reasons for

being here, whether for work or love

or adventure, or maybe to just get on

with their lives in the best way they

know how. One thing that they nearly

all share in though is that they are

here because they want to be here.

But then again, among the more remote

and rarely visited regions of these

beautiful cliffs and canyons, there

are also those...

(beat)

EXT. DESERT - DAY

A silhouette of a figure almost totally obscured by dense

swirling dust stands next to an oddly shaped cactus.

2.

It's impossible to make out who or even what the figure is,

other than it appears to be standing on two legs. The dust

thickens to the point of zero visibility.

NARRATOR

... who have no choice.

EXT. DESERT - DAY

A long and straight two lane paved road stretches through the

desert. There are no vehicles in sight. An abandoned gas

station sits alongside the highway with several other decrepit

buildings around it. A weathered road sign identifies the

1980's-era ghost town as "HAMBLEM". A beat-up older compact

car moving down the highway comes into view.

INT. CAR - DAY - TRAVELING

Three people in their late twenties and a dog are inside.

ALLEN drives, VAUGHN sits in the front passenger seat and a

beauty named ELLA sits in the back seat. Ella's bare feet

stick out of an open car window. The dog, a miniature

dachshund named SID sits panting on Ella's lap.

Ella pours some water out of a bottle into a cup and gives it

to Sid. The car slows and passes by the derelict gas station.

In front of the station a faded sign on a bent pole

reads "HAMBLEM'S GAS STATION" and "LAST GAS FOR 160 MILES".

Allen glances at the gas gauge, which shows near-empty.

ALLEN

This one is closed too Vaughn. Ok,

I'm starting to officially panic.

VAUGHN

We haven't even seen another car on

this road... let alone an open gas

station. No matter. I think we're

getting pretty close anyways.

Vaughn pulls a peculiar map out. He partially unfolds it and

looks at it. Ella examines her cell phone.

ELLA

No signal on the cellie either.

Ella puts down her phone and looks out the window.

ELLA

We did it. Yes we did. Stuck way out

in the middle of the desert.

3.

ELLA (cont'd)

So guys, this what you wanted right?

But I do have to say that I'm

personally not really looking forward

to being stranded way out here in

desert hell.

ALLEN

Nobody is stranded... at least not yet

Ella. Hey, I thought the whole idea

of this road trip was to get kinda

lost, right? To find our souls and

destiny in the wastelands of the deep

desert? Was that not the general

plan? No?

VAUGHN

Yes it was Allen. And maybe find out

what happened to my UNCLE JOE.

Vaughn opens his wallet and looks at an old black and white

photograph of a man leaning against a 1970's Impala car.

ALLEN

In any case, it is pretty peaceful in

these parts. There's nothing to

bother you out here. No traffic, no

people, no --

ELLA

(interrupting)

-- gas, no Quicky Marts, no radio, no

anything. And Sid is getting hot!

But hey... I still love my guys!

Ella smiles, reaches forward and grabs Vaughn and Allen,

shaking them. They smile. Vaughn looks over at the gas gauge

and then back to his map.

VAUGHN

Here's the deal. If we keep going we

will run out of gas. If we turn

around we will also run out of gas and

it don't look like any road services

hang out around here. But there is a

mark right here on the map that looks

like it might be --

Ella stands Sid up on his hind legs and baby-talks to him.

ELLA

-- Did you hear that, Sid the weanie

wonderdog? We're screwed. Yes we

are. Oh save us superdog Sid, save

your mama, save us all...

4.

As Ella baby-talks to the dog, Vaughn and Allen turn around in

their seats and look back at her, rolling their eyes. A blur

trailing dust silently zips past the car and speeds forward

down the road, unseen by the car's occupants. After a second

the blur is gone from sight, leaving a quickly-diminishing

dust trail. Allen turns back around and drives on. As Vaughn

turns back around, he glances through the rear window and

freezes. His eyes open wide.

VAUGHN

Oh Shit!

A low ROAR is heard which very quickly gets much louder.

Seen through the windshield, the tip of a large red rocket

comes into view and passes closely directly overhead the car.

The tip of the rocket has white paint transfer scrapes on it.

A large black block letter "A" is painted on the body of the

rocket as it rapidly overtakes the car, very quickly followed

by "C","M" and "E". Blinding smoke suddenly fills the car,

which SHAKES violently. An ear-splitting ROAR of the rocket's

exhaust blast is heard as it passes over the car. The car's

windshield cracks in multiple places.

EXT. CAR - DAY

The car is on fire and streams heavy smoke as it CAREENS out

of control. It slides off the roadway into the desert and

comes to a dusty and smoky halt. The roar of the departing

rocket wanes down. There is no movement or sound from the

car. The fire on the car goes out except for a tire.

EXT. DESERT SKY - DAY

An aerial view shows the rocket below continuing to move down

the straight roadway, closely following the blur that had

passed the car. Ahead of the rocket is a very tight right

curve and guardrail with a deep, mile-wide canyon beyond it.

INT. ROCKET'S COCKPIT - DAY

The ROAR of the rocket is again heard. The rocket's vibrating

flight control dash has blinking lights, digital instrument

read-outs, a speaker and a flight direction joystick. A

gloved three-fingered hand grasps the joystick. The hand

jerks the joystick to the right, which is immediately followed

by a violent bump and a very brief CRASHING sound. The dash

speaker emits a loud continuous electronic warning ALARM and

voice: PULL UP!... PULL UP!... PULL UP!

5.

EXT. CANYON - DAY

The rocket flies over the canyon and loses altitude.

Its electronic warning voice continues and fades: PULL UP...

Pull Up... pull up... (o.s.)

BACK TO CAR:

Three doors open at the same time. Ella, Vaughn and Allen

quickly exit the car. They cough and yell. Ella carries a

choking Sid. Smoke pours from inside of the car. They run a

short distance away and stand together in a shocked state,

hacking and rubbing their eyes. An explosion in the distance

is heard.

VAUGHN

What the hell man!

ALLEN

You gotta be kidding me!

ELLA

It's some kind of a big joke...

right?!

They laugh so hard they have to hold onto each other to keep

their balance. Allen recovers enough to retrieve a fire

extinguisher from the car and puts the tire fire out. A large

smoke plume rises in the b.g. from the area of the canyon.

VAUGHN

What in good God's name was that

anyways?!

ELLA

(sarcastically)

Duh... a big red rocket maybe?

At the same time, they turn around and look at the rising

smoke plume in the distance. They walk towards it.

EXT. CURVE/GUARDRAIL - DAY (LATER)

The guardrail has a gap in it. A tail fin from the rocket is

stuck in it. The guardrail has a previous repair near the

gap. Ella, Vaughn and Allen look across the canyon. On the

steep far canyon wall are two blackened spots, one of which

has the back section of the still-smoking rocket stuck in it.

Sid barks at it.

6.

VAUGHN

Somebody around here made a big

mistake. You just know there's going

to be some serious kind of hell to pay

for this.

ELLA

Let's climb over there and take a look

at it!

VAUGHN/ALLEN

No!

ALLEN

We better get back to the car. It's

going to be dark pretty soon.

They turn around and walk back towards their car.

BACK TO CAR - DUSK (LATER)

ELLA

So now what?

VAUGHN

The spare is ok but we still need gas.

And the odds of getting any from

somebody driving along is pretty low,

considering we've not seen even one

living soul on this road the whole

day. Maybe we shouldn't have driven

around those "ROAD CLOSED" signs.

ELLA

You think? No!

ALLEN

Earlier you said we were getting

close. Close to what exactly?

Vaughn pulls an old compass and his map out. He unfolds the

map on the ground and examines it while holding the compass

next to it. Allen shines a flashlight on the map.

ALLEN

I've never seen a map like that

before. Where'd you get it?

VAUGHN

My Uncle Joe gave it to me just before

he disappeared somewhere out here back

in the early eighties. I was only

four at the time. All I know is he

went to this part of the desert back

then and never came back.

7.

VAUGHN (cont'd)

He was never seen or heard from again.

I was hoping that his map might

somehow lead me to him... or at least

find out what happened to him.

VAUGHN'S MEMORY FLASHBACK:

INT. RESIDENCE/ATTIC - DAY (SILENT)

A man holding the map and a four year old boy sit on the

floor. The man appears to be explaining something about the

map to the boy and points to a spot on it.

BACK TO PRESENT/SCENE

Allen looks over Vaughn's shoulder at the map.

ALLEN

What's those notes on the side mean?

VAUGHN

I don't know exactly. But right here

is a mark which looks like it's at

least a couple of miles or so west

from here. Maybe it's a ranch or

someplace where we can get some gas

and maybe a ride back. Unless anybody

has a better idea, I say we take off

now and try to find it. We'll bring

the flashlights and some water with

us. Ok with you guys?

Ella and Allen nod ok. Ella leaves her purse inside the car.

FADE TO:

SUPERIMPOSE: "HAMBLEM - 1981"

EXT. DESERT - DAY

A Chevy Impala is parked across from Hamblem's gas station,

which is in full operation... cars getting gas, a person buys

a coke from a machine. Cars go by on the highway.

The Impala's driver (UNCLE JOE) wears a mechanic style

workshirt with the name "JOE" embroidered on it. Uncle Joe

straps two jato rockets to the top of the Impala. He gets into

the Impala, pulls onto the highway and drives down the road

towards the curve/guardrail seen earlier. The jato rockets

IGNITE. The Impala lunges forward on the highway headed

towards the curve.

8.

The Impala reaches the curve and SMASHES through the guardrail

and flies through the canyon towards the opposite cliff wall.

UNCLE JOE (O.S)

Our Father, who art in heaven...

FADE TO BLACK:

The sound of a crash is heard.

SUPERIMPOSE: "LOS ANGELES - CALIFORNIA"

ADD:

SUPERIMPOSE: "2002"

EXT. LOS ANGELES SKYLINE - ESTABLISHING - DAY

Of the downtown skyscraper district, focusing in on a tall and

modern building. A plaque which reads "BADDE TOWERS" is on

one of the building's columns. A helicopter sits on the roof.

INT. "BADDE TOWERS"/TOP FLOOR/MR. BADDES'S OFFICE - DAY

A brass nameplate with "MR. BADDE" and "PRESIDENT" written on

it sits on a mahogany desk. A detailed model of a large

desert community development sits on a table. The model shows

shopping centers and thousands of homes. Looking at the model

is MR. BADDE, an expensively dressed and important-looking

man. With Mr. Badde is L.J., who is Mr. Badde's top henchman.

L.J.

How did you do it? This is all

classified government land. For

crying out loud, it's a military air

base... over a million acres of it.

Not to mention the air space over it

is restricted. You already own it?

MR. BADDE

In a day or so. It does help that I

have political friends. And that the

government is downsizing and were

willing to close the base and sell it

to me personally at a sham private

auction. As far as anybody knows it

just went to the highest bidder.

9.

L.J.

So all of this is just about a

community development? I know you

better than that. You only go after

the big money. What's really up?

MR. BADDE

You're right. The development is just

a cover. What I'm really after is the

forty million metric tons of platinum

ore under it. Limitless wealth.

However, I do have one real problem

remaining that could throw a monkey

wrench into the whole deal.

L.J.

What's that, Mr. Badde?

MR. BADDE

The damm conservationists. Those

crystal-clutching, granola crunching

wackos are claiming that any

development there will disrupt animal

life indigenous to that area.

Fortunately they haven't found

anything yet other than common rabbits

and coyotes, but it's only a matter of

time before they do. I can't have

that.

Mr. Badde puts his arm around L.J.

MR. BADDE

That's where you come in. Your job is

to make sure they don't find anything

else. I don't want any living thing

bigger than a scorpion left in there.

Comb every square foot of that place

and eradicate everything that's alive.

Mr. Badde pulls L.J. to him, nose to nose.

MR. BADDE

And I mean every living thing... four

legs or two.

L.J. gives Mr. Badde a puzzled look.

10.

MR. BADDE

Here's the deal... a freak species of

coyotes live there whose only habitat

is indigenous to that area. These

pests need to be flushed out and

exterminated before those damm cactus

hugging do-gooders or anyone else

knows that they were ever there.

L.J.

I understand sir. But we can't just

fumble around in there now. The whole

place is off-limits... to everyone.

It's like a big area 51 or something.

MR. BADDE

That's already been taken care of. My

friends in Washington have arranged

for me a special private access

hunting and heavy range permit. And I

have been assured that the base will

not intervene. As far as anybody else

knows, you are merely hunters and big

weapon enthusiasts eliminating pests

and firing big guns. And L.J.?

L.J.

Yes boss?

Mr. Badde walks up to L.J. and straightens his tie.

MR. BADDE

You do know what a coyote looks like,

don't you? But you'll be looking for

a type that looks much differently

than your average coyote. Every last

single one of them needs to... shall

we say... go away.

L.J.

But if you're going to own the land in

a few days anyway why do you want them

gone at all? And why right now? What

do you have against them?

Mr. Badde gets a blank look on his face.

MR. BADDE

I have my reasons. Personal reasons.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH:

Of the car driving fast at night without its lights on in the

desert.

11.

BACK TO SCENE/MR. BADDE

Mr. Badde gives L.J. an envelope and escorts him to the door.

MR. BADDE

Goodbye, Mr. Johnson. And good

hunting.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH:

Of the distant open pit with dust rising from it.

INT. OPEN PIT TUNNEL - NIGHT

A bare dangling lightbulb dimly illuminates the tunnel and the

back of a figure seated at a simple desk studying a crude

split blueprint. The blueprint shows the round open pit. At

the top of the pit is a boulder propped up by a stick. The

boulder sits on a round path which spirals down and around the

interior of the pit and leads down to the tunnel entrance.

Arrows are drawn at the entrance and exit of the tunnel where

the boulder would enter and exit through the tunnel to a road

which goes by the outside of the pit. On the road an "X" is

painted. On the "X" is a stick drawing of the ROADRUNNER.

WILLIE COYOTE anxiously concentrates on his blueprint. Willie

grabs the blueprint, gets up abruptly and strides through the

tunnel out to the large bottom floor of the pit. The pit is

brightly lit up from large industrial lights. Construction

equipment and bulldozers are strewn around the area. Willie

puts his hands on his hips and surveys his work.

EXT. DESERT - NIGHT

Ella and Vaughn walk in silence. Allen walks behind them.

ALLEN'S MEMORY FLASHBACK:

INT. RESIDENCE/ALLEN'S BEDROOM - DAY

Allen is sixteen years old. His dad looks at a school report

card that has his name "ALLEN BRANDON" written on it. On the

card are several "F's". Allen's angry dad yells.

ALLEN'S DAD

You'll never be anybody! You'll never

do anything! Anything!

12.

BACK TO PRESENT/ALLEN

Allen hangs his head slightly down as he walks. Ella carries

Sid as she walks.

ELLA'S MEMORY FLASHBACK:

EXT. CITY PARK - DAY

A ten year old Ella uses a vhs movie camera to film and direct

her friends who are acting and reading their lines from sheets

of paper. One of Ella's friends holds a fishing pole with a

small plastic fighter jet model attached to the fishing line.

ELLA'S MOM watches them, shaking her head.

ELLA'S MOM

That's enough of that for today Ella.

Play at something else.

ELLA

But why can't I make a movie? I want

to make a real movie when I get older.

And I want to fly a jet like you said

my dad did before he died. I want --

ELLA'S MOM

-- You are a very bright and gifted

child. But let's just forget about

movies and jets. You're going to be a

biologist just like your step... just

like your dad and that is that.

BACK TO PRESENT/SCENE

The group comes to a tall and stout fence topped with barbed

wire and stop. Allen puts his flashlight down on a mound next

to the fence and looks it over.

ALLEN

Hello... what is this now?

ELLA

(sarcastically)

Ahh... yes... what are the words that

you Americans use in this country... a

fence? Hello! Mcfly! Tish tish!

Ella slaps the air towards Allen. He smiles.

13.

ALLEN

So this is private property? Who

would put up a big fence like this way

out here? Is this the border?

VAUGHN

No way. The border is way off from

here. One thing for sure though...

this ain't no rancher's fence. Well,

we've been walking all night and we're

not going to turn back now. Here we

go...

Vaughn walks up to the fence and grabs onto it.

ALLEN

I don't like it. Fences are put up

for a reason. As a matter of fact,

this one is talking to me right now.

ELLA

Scare-dee cat alert! Just as I always

suspected... a nervous Nellie. Fences

talk to you? So what is this one

saying to you?

ALLEN

Well Ella, it says we don't belong in

there. It says stay out. It says

that if you want to come in here,

you've got to have permission to...

which we don't. It says don't go any

further, unless you want to have all

of your asses collectively kicked.

VAUGHN

Look Allen, we won't go in if you

don't want to. But don't you

remember? We left home together to

see something... to do something. And

whatever that might be, it's not on

this side of the fence. Did we come

this far to turn back now and go home

empty handed? Besides, we need gas.

ELLA

Forget what the fence is telling you.

What do you say... Fencetalker?

Ella and Vaughn look at Allen, who gets a determined look on

his face.

ALLEN'S MEMORY FLASHBACK:

14.

ALLEN'S DAD (O.S.)

You'll never be anybody! You'll never

do anything! Anything!

BACK TO PRESENT/ALLEN:

ALLEN

Who wants to grow old always wondering

what if. Ok. Let's do it.

They high-five each other, yelling "Yah"! Allen cups his

hands as Ella steps into them, climbs the fence and jumps

down.

FREEZE FRAME:

Of Ella's feet the instant they touch the ground.

RESUME NORMAL ACTION:

A nearby fence ground sensor under the dirt is revealed. A

wire from it is tracked as it snakes underneath the ground.

A telephone RINGS (O.S)

Allen cups his hands and Vaughn steps in them and lifts

himself up holding Sid. Vaughn hands Sid down to Ella and

reaches down to pull up Allen. Vaughn and Allen jump down.

Vaughn reaches through the fence to retrieve his flashlight.

Unseen by the trio, the flashlight's beam reflects off of a

sign hanging on the fence:

"U.S. GOVERNMENT PROPERTY - NO TRESPASSING - DEADLY FORCE

AUTHORIZED". Vaughn picks up his flashlight and they continue

to trudge on in the night.

EXT. OPEN PIT - DAY (DAWN)

Hundreds of obscure figures stand on the upper rim of the pit.

An outside ground level tunnel leads into the inner pit. A

road with a big white "X" painted in the middle of it runs

alongside the outside of the pit. A steep and curved mesa is

on the other side of the road across from the pit tunnel.

SERIES OF SHOTS - WILLIE ATTEMPTS TO CATCH ROADRUNNER (1)

A) A blur in the distance moves at great speed down the

road towards the pit. The blur gives off a turbine sound.

B) Willie cups his ear and quickly climbs up the inner

steps of the pit towards the top.

15.

C) A military fighter jet STREAKS low towards the pit.

D) The blur on the road continues towards the pit. Its

turbine sound builds.

E) Willie continues to quickly climb up the inner pit steps.

F) The jet SCREAMS out of a canyon and turns to fly

parallel towards the open pit. "RECON" and a clearcovered

camera is on the jet's side.

G) The jet's pilot flips a cockpit switch labeled "RECORD".

A light blinks beneath the camera's cover.

EXT. OPEN PIT UPPER RIM - DAY

Willie reaches the top of the pit's rim. On the pit's inner

circular downward path sits a large round boulder propped by a

stick. The stick has a rope attached to it. Willie lights

the fuses of many dynamite sticks inserted in holes in the

boulder. Willie looks down at the road outside the pit and

sees the approaching blur on the road getting closer.

Willie grabs the rope from the side and attempts to pull the

stick from underneath the hissing boulder but the stick

doesn't budge. Willie then tries to pull the stick out from

the other side of the boulder but the stick still does not

budge. He becomes frustrated and tries to pull the stick out

while he stands in front of the boulder. The stick jerks away

and the boulder runs over Willie, flattening him. The boulder

spirals down and around the pit's inner road.

EXT. OPEN PIT AREA - DAY

Ella, Vaughn and Allen walk towards the pit. They hear the

turbine sound and look towards the oncoming blur.

VAUGHN

What in hell is that? Get down!

They drop and hide behind a bush.

SERIES OF SHOTS - WILLIE ATTEMPTS TO CATCH ROADRUNNER (2)

A) The blur on the roadway travels closer to the pit,

it's turbine sound still building.

B) The pilot inside the recon jet smiles.

16.

C) The boulder continues to spiral down and around the road.

D) Willie recovers and runs down the outside of the pit

towards the "X" on the road. He slips and rolls down.

E) The blur rapidly approaches the "X" on the road, its

turbine sound builds ever louder.

F) The boulder continues to spiral down and around the road.

G) The figures standing on top of the pit's upper rim watch.

H) Willie rolls to the bottom of the pit, gets up and runs

towards the "X" on the road.

I) The boulder reaches the bottom of the inner pit and enters

the tunnel leading outside. A scraping sound is heard

as the boulder bounces off of the tunnel's walls. The

boulder exits out of the other end of the tunnel and rolls

towards the painted "X" on the road.

J) The blur has almost reached the "X" on the road, its

turbine sound SCREAMS.

K) Ella, Vaughn and Allen's mouths are open in disbelief.

EXT. ROAD OUTSIDE OPEN PIT - DAY

Just as the boulder reaches and about to cross over the "X" on

the road, the blur stops instantly just before it.

It is the ROADRUNNER.

The boulder rolls across the "X" as the Roadrunner watches it

roll by. The Roadrunner darts its tongue out at the boulder

a few times. The Roadrunner takes off at a rapid pace as

before, but now only its legs are in a blur while it gives off

its turbine sound. The rolling boulder crosses the roadway

and goes up the curved wall of the mesa on the other side of

the road and disappears out of view.

Willie screeches to a halt. He has a look of bewilderment on

his face. He takes off running down the road to chase the

Roadrunner, his arms outstretched in front of him. His legs

go so fast they are blurred to the point so that it looks like

he has many legs. Willie has his own go-fast turbine

sound. As he approaches the "X" on the road, a WHISTLING

sound is heard and a growing round shadow appears on the road.

Willie looks up with apprehension.

The boulder comes down directly on top of Willie as he crosses

the "X", completely FLATTENING him from out of view.

17.

After a moment, Willie's hands and arms emerge from under the

boulder as he begins to extricate himself. The dynamite in

the boulder EXPLODES, leaving the blackened and smoking Willie

lying in a crater. Willie gets up and walks swiftly away.

His hands are clenched to his sides. Smoke rises from his

sooty hide.

EXT. OPEN PIT'S UPPER RIM - DAY

The obscure figures move about with a great deal of noise and

celebration.

INT/EXT. RECON JET - DAY

The pilot of the recon jet slaps his knees. The jet's camera

blinks under its cover. The cockpit camera image screen shows

live and freeze-frame images of Willie walking away, the

departing Roadrunner and the figures on the top of the pit's

rim. The image screen passes over but fails to lock on an

obscure figure off in the distance standing on a ridge. The

image screen shifts and locks onto Ella, Vaughn and Allen

hiding behind the bush. Several pictures are taken of them as

they look up at the jet. The jet veers off and away. Painted

on the jet's tail is a cartoon figure of Willie Coyote.

Lettered underneath the figure is "WILLIE'S WEASELS".

BACK TO ELLA/VAUGHN/ALLEN

Ella, Vaughn and Allen are lying on the ground. They laugh

very hard. Ella holds her stomach. Sid barks and licks

Ella's face. They help each other up and catch their breath.

ELLA

Oh... My... Lord! I can't take it!

ALLEN

Did you see that?! That was Willie

Coyote and the Roadrunner! That was

the funniest thing I have ever seen!

VAUGHN

I will never believe this happened.

It's impossible. Since when do

cartoon figures become real?

ELLA

Since because we're in a movie! These

sort of things don't happen in real

life.

18.

Vaughn and Allen look affectionately at Ella.

ALLEN

Some day Ella you'll have your movie.

Hey what about that fighter jet? We

must be on some sort of military air

base. Maybe we should --

ELLA

-- To be accurate it was an F-15E

strike eagle. I do know my planes you

know. My real dad used to fly jets.

ALLEN

We know. Maybe we should just turn

around now and go back. I don't think

we want a ride from anyone here. We

don't belong in this place.

VAUGHN

We might be getting a ride, but I

doubt it will be back to the car.

More than likely a ride to jail for

trespassing on a military base. It's

not on the regular map and probably

for a real good reason. We have got

to get away from this place now.

ELLA

What's the big hurry? We can't leave

now after what we've just seen. Let's

take a quick look around and if we get

caught we just tell the truth... we

got stranded and went looking for

help. Ok? Come on you two!

VAUGHN

You just can't stop Ella... can you?

Well, here we go again. Fine... ok.

Why the heck not?

Ella and Vaughn look at Allen.

ALLEN

Why do you two always look at me like

that? I'm in. Now let's go find

Willie!

They walk off arm-in-arm towards the pit tunnel, horsing

around and laughing among themselves. Vaughn looks up towards

the pit's upper rim where the obscure figures had been

standing earlier. Nobody is there now.

19.

EXT. DESERT LEDGE - DAY

The figure standing on the distant ridge that the recon jet

camera had failed to lock onto is still there. The figure is

that of an elderly male Indian. His face is very weathered.

There is a smile on his face at first but then his expression

turns flat. He turns and walks away.

INT. COLONEL TOOMB'S OFFICE - DAY

An office is on the top story of a decaying base building.

The office door window is lettered "BASE COMMANDER". A

telescope points out a window. A black and white picture of a

Vietnam-era patrol boat floating on a jungle river sits on a

desk. A speaker sits on the desk. Faint sounds of a busy

city are heard from the speaker... a car honks, a siren wails.

A curiously-framed four inch artillery shell is lodged in a

wall. COL. TOOMB sits behind his desk across from MAJOR ROUG.

Col. Toomb's desk has his nameplate on it. Major Roug holds a

clipboard and a folder. They drink coffee.

COLONEL TOOMB

Ok Major Roug... what are the problems

for today?

MAJOR ROUG

Sir, several things have come up.

First, the anticipated event at the

pit this morning basically went

without incident. Secondly, there was

another civilian base incursion. Here

are the recon jet's photos of both.

Major Roug hands Col. Toomb the folder. Col. Toomb looks

through several photographs and chuckles. His expression

narrows as he stares at a particular photo.

COL. TOOMB

Who are these guys? The civilians?

MAJOR ROUG

Yes sir. At first glance just a small

group of young people. Their car

became disabled yesterday afternoon

just outside the abandoned town of

Hamblem.

Major Roug points out a photo to Col. Toomb.

MAJOR ROUG

Looks like they struck out on their

own to get help. Walked all night. A

hardy little band of tykesters.

20.

MAJOR ROUG (cont'd)

They came this way and hopped the

fence.

COL. TOOMB

So whats the problem? Send the MP's

over to pick them up and turn them

over to the sheriff's department as

usual. Happens damm near every week

nowadays. Routine stuff.

MAJOR ROUG

Not this time.

COL. TOOMB

How so? Are they terrorists or

something? TV investigators?

MAJOR ROUG

No sir. Just a couple of young people

wandering and looking around the

desert on a road trip. My pals and I

used to do that too.

COL. TOOMB

Then what are you getting at Major?

MAJOR ROUG

Sir, they were at the pit this

morning. They saw everything.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH:

The dynamite boulder EXPLODES on top of Willie. Ella, Vaughn

and Allen fall down laughing.

BACK TO SCENE/ROUG

MAJOR ROUG

We got their names from the car's

plates and some items they left inside

of it. You'll want to see this.

Major Roug hands Col. Toomb the clipboard with an apprehensive

look. Toomb examines it and a perplexed expression comes over

his face. Toomb slowly rises from his chair as he stares at

the clipboard.

COL. TOOMB

My God. Bring them directly to me.

21.

MAJOR ROUG

Yes sir but there's more. The reason

their car became disabled was because

Willie's rocket over-flew their car.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH: (DIFFERENT P.O.V.)

Willie's ACME rocket ROARS over their car.

BACK TO SCENE/MAJOR ROUG

MAJOR ROUG

We are recovering their car but it

will be about a day or two before we

can get a new windshield for it. We

need to put them up for the night.

FLASH:

A military tow truck picks up their disabled car.

BACK TO SCENE/MAJOR ROUG

MAJOR ROUG

In any case, it appears that our two

subjects had once again strayed off

the reservation... so to speak.

COL. TOOMB

Major, you had assured me that these

off-base excursions were to be a thing

of the past. We're already hanging on

by our fingernails. You know this.

MAJOR ROUG

Sir we've added cement roadblocks on

the road to Hamblem for now. It

appears that Willie's target, whom we

have little to no control over, had

crossed over into civilian territory

by simply hopping over the main gate.

Willie was pursuing the bird on his

rocket and sliced through the gate

like a hot knife through butter.

Scared the hell out of the guards.

FLASH:

22.

EXT. BASE MAIN GATE - DAY

The Roadrunner jumps over the gate, closely followed by Willie

on his ROARING big red rocket which SMASHES through the white

gate as the gate guards run for cover.

BACK TO SCENE/ROUG

MAJOR ROUG

Shortly afterwards, Willie's rocket

over-flew the trio's car which caught

on fire and slid off the road. Willie

then failed to negotiate a sharp

curve, crashed through the guardrail,

flew over the canyon and smashed into

the opposite side cliff.

FLASH:

EXT. CANYON WALL - DAY

Willie's rocket SMASHES and EXPLODES onto the cliff's wall.

BACK TO SCENE/TOOMB

COL. TOOMB

I bet that was a Kodak moment. Did

the recon jet get all of that?

MAJOR ROUG

Yes, but only long range images. The

speed of Willie's rocket was way

beyond our original estimates. He was

easily able to evade any close

pursuit. It was an amazing rocket.

Even NASA would be impressed.

As a matter of fact, some of it was

still intact after its impact on the

cliff's wall. We're taking a look on

what's left of his rocket to see just

how he made it. Our own engineers are

saying it's nothing short of genius.

FLASH:

EXT. CANYON CLIFF - DAY

Above where the rocket had crashed into the canyon cliff wall

a tank recovery crane lifts the remains of the rocket up.

23.

BACK TO SCENE/TOOMB

COL. TOOMB

Would you say perhaps nothing short of

super genius Major?

MAJOR ROUG

Ah, yes sir... super genius. Sorry

sir, but here's the real problem of

the day. We have reports from the

MP's this morning that a very large

private hunting and heavy weapons

range party are massing outside the

main gate. They appear to have legal

authorization for entry onto the base.

FLASH:

EXT. OUTSIDE BASE MAIN GATE - DAY

Mr. Badde's huge private army masses outside the gate.

BACK TO SCENE/TOOMB

Apprehension comes over Col. Toomb's face. He pulls a

crumpled-up paper out of a trash can. He straightens out the

official-looking document and looks closely at it.

COLONEL TOOMB

Please continue Major.

MAJOR ROUG

I have real misgivings about this one

sir, for obvious reasons. They have

way too many people and heavy weapons

to be your average hunting or range

party. We've stalled their entry for

now, but we don't have the authority

to deny them permanent access. This

is a real problem... for all of us.

COLONEL TOOMB

We have a bigger problem than you

know. Close the door Major.

24.

INT. C130 CARGO PLANE/COCKPIT - DAY

Two pilots are talking to each other.

CO-PILOT

.. and so I said, yes sir, I'll help

fly a cargo plane and be grateful and

humbled to do so... but my talents are

seriously being wasted here. What

this country really needs though is

for me to stretch my wings... pardon

the pun sir... in a speedier and

sexier flying machine so that my

country and countrymen can benefit

from my vastly superior flying skills

and abilities. I'll save lives sir.

PILOT

Ok top gun, that's really interesting

but why don't you impress me with your

superior skills by reading out our

flight status by the numbers. Tell ya

what though... after that, you can

make puttering noises with your lips

and pretend that this crate is a F15.

CO-PILOT

Yes sir, by the numbers we are four

minutes after takeoff from home base

A6 and climbing from 4,000 feet on a

forty degree course at 260 knots.

Fuel tanks are at 54,000 pounds,

visibility is unlimited with light

horizontal cloud cover and... well

sir...

PILOT

And what?

CO-PILOT

And I still feel that co-piloting a

cargo plane is seriously cramping my

style. However, I would like to add

despite that, I am honored and humbled

with gratitude to be serving my

country alongside a giant of aviation

such as yourself.

The pilot grins as he looks out the window towards the ground.

25.

EXT. OPEN PIT - DAY

Ella, Vaughn and Allen climb up the pit's outer sides towards

the upper rim. The buzz of the the C130 cargo plane is heard

and they look up at it. Ella points up to it.

ELLA

Oh look! They have a C130 here too!

BACK TO C130 PLANE/COCKPIT

The pilot scans the ground. He hunches forward in his seat.

PILOT

Hey Ted... look at this!

The pilot points down towards the ground where the Roadrunner

zooms down the road. Several miles ahead of the Roadrunner

two delivery vans are moving alongside each other.

CO-PILOT

There's the bird. I wonder where youknow-

who is.

I/E. - DESERT ROAD/DELIVERY VANS - DAY

Fedex and UPS delivery vans are traveling at breakneck speed

side-by-side in a desert road race. The drivers are laughing

and hollering at each other, gunning the motors, shifting

gears, swaying all over the road. Both vans have a bumper

sticker which reads "DHL SUCKS".

They pass an ornate granite roadside memorial marker engraved

with "MR. & MRS. BADDE".

They pass a roadside sign which reads: "EXTREME DANGER:

ABANDONED MINE SHAFTS IN AREA / DO NOT ENTER UNDER PENALTY OF

FEDERAL LAW".

BACK TO C130 PLANE/CARGO AREA

Crates are stacked and strapped in. One of the crates is

suddenly pushed up and onto the deck and reveals Willie, who

had been hiding behind the crate. He has on a green wingsuit

with an ACME logo emblazoned on the chest. On his head are

matching skull-cap and goggles. Willie shuffles towards the

rear of the plane.

Having heard the crate fall, both the pilot and co-pilot look

back to the cargo area.

26.

The co-pilot unbuckles himself and walks towards the back of

the plane. He freezes in his tracks upon seeing Willie, who

pushes the ramp-down switch. The ramp lowers. A warning

light and tone goes off in the cockpit. The pilot turns and

looks towards the back of the plane.

PILOT

What's going on back there?

Willie leaps from the ramp into the sky and flies down in his

wingsuit. He drops through several horizontal cloud

formations. Each time he does a hole of his silhouette is

outlined. Willie's facial expression is one of delight as he

glides down towards the Roadrunner.

EXT. DESERT ROAD - DAY

The Roadrunner catches up to the delivery vans. As Willie

flies down and closes in on the Roadrunner, the Roadrunner

stops abruptly in its tracks. Willie realizes that he is

going to overshoot the Roadrunner and frantically flaps his

wingsuit's wings in an attempt to slow down. He crashes

through the UPS van's roof, leaving his silhouette in it.

The UPS van goes out of control, overturns and slides down the

road on its side. The following Fedex van crashes into the

UPS van and also overturns and goes into a slide. The UPS van

slides off the roadway towards the cliff of a deep gorge. The

UPS van comes to a stop and hangs precariously on the cliff's

edge. The Fedex van slides along the roadway and smashes into

an unsuspecting oncoming DHL delivery van which overturns and

slides. Both the Fedex and DHL vans slide off of the roadway,

spinning towards the UPS van.

The Fedex van smashes into the UPS van, sending it over the

cliff and down the gorge's long drop to the bottom. The Fedex

van hangs on the cliff's edge with the DHL van sliding right

towards it. Numerous packages are strewn all over the ground

that had ejected out of the vans.

EXT. BOTTOM OF GORGE/MINESHAFT ENTRANCE - DAY

A large and flat boarded-up hole lies on the ground,

surrounded by barriers and warning signs, one of which

says "DANGER - ABANDONED MINE - KEEP OUT UNDER PENALTY OF

FEDERAL LAW". It is very quiet.

The falling UPS van enters into view from above and crashes

though the mineshaft entrance, raising a large amount of dust.

After a moment the dust clears.

27.

A crash is heard.

The falling Fedex van enters into view from above and plunges

down into the mineshaft tunnel entrance.

INT. MINESHAFT TUNNEL - DAY

It is silent and dark in a big long tunnel. The UPS van, its

headlights on, enters into view from the mineshaft opening

above and CRASHES onto the tunnel floor. A moment later the

Fedex van enters into view from above and CRASHES on top of

the UPS van. A disheveled Willie crawls out of the flattened

UPS van. The Fedex van's headlights illuminates several

wooden crates labeled "ACME DYNAMITE" stored nearby on the

tunnel floor. Willie looks at the dynamite crates with

apprehension and limps away as fast as he is able to.

EXT. TOP OF CLIFF - DAY

The DHL van balances precariously on the edge of the cliff in

the same spot as the two other vans had been. In the

foreground a big crate sits among the other packages strewn

about.

PUSH IN:

Printed on the crate is "ACME" and "DELIVER TO: WILLIE COYOTE"

and "R.P.V.(M)".

The now-familiar sound of a van sliding off the cliff and

falling onto the mine tunnel floor moments later is heard,

followed by the sound of a big EXPLOSION. (o.s.)

A cloud of rising dust and debris comes into view from below.

Willie's skull-cap floats up with the dust cloud.

EXT. OPEN PIT - DAY

Ella, Vaughn and Allen stand on the upper rim of the pit,

looking at the mine explosion's mushroom cloud in the

distance. Ella jumps up and down and pumps her arms.

ELLA

Let me guess! You go Willie! Whoo!

Whoo! We're coming baby!

Several base MP vehicles in the b.g. are headed in their

direction. Vaughn turns to look at them.

28.

VAUGHN

Looks like we're finally going to get

that ride.

BACK TO TOP OF CLIFF EDGE

The delivery van's drivers hang on the edge of the cliff.

They choke from the explosion's dust. They swear and kick

their legs at each other.

EXT. OPEN PIT AREA - DAY (LATER)

A MP vehicle drives off with Ella, Vaughn and Allen in the

back seat. The vehicle's am radio is on.

RADIO WEATHER ANNOUNCER (O.S.)

"... and the forecast is for

continuing clear and dry skies. In

other news, a small commercial flight

chartered by a Bollywood dance and

music group made an emergency landing

this morning at a private airfield in

New Mexico after developing engine

problems. No one aboard was..."

EXT. BASE RUNWAY - DAY

A group of East Indian people disembark from a plane. A few

of them attempt to make cell phone calls without success. An

officer monitoring them checks off a mark on his clipboard.

BACK TO COL. TOOMB'S OFFICE (LATER)

Ella, Vaughn and Allen sit handcuffed in chairs. An MP stands

guard at the door. Col. Toomb and Major Roug enter.

MAJOR ROUG

So how you guys doing? How about

something to drink? MP's treating you

allright? Hey, let's get these

handcuffs off. What are we here

anyways... savages?

Major Roug makes an exaggerated arm motion and fake harsh look

at the smiling MP, who removes the handcuffs and leaves.

29.

COL. TOOMB

So what are you people doing on my

base? The MP's tell me your car broke

down and you walked all night to get

here. Did any of you happen to notice

anything like a fence on your way in?

Allen gives Ella a sidelong glance.

ALLEN

Yes sir, my name is Allen, and we're

sorry we trespassed. It's just that

our cell phones had no signal so we

took off on foot for help. We didn't

mean to be a problem.

MAJOR ROUG

Well Allen, the trespassing in itself

is not the problem here. We get that

once in a while, mostly from curiosity

seekers who think this base is another

Area 51 and they want to see ufo's.

Normally we just pick them up and call

the sheriff's department and they take

them away.

COL. TOOMB

But this is not a normal situation.

You guys saw a few things you weren't

supposed to see and now we've got to

figure out how to keep your lips

buttoned up. Nobody would believe you

anyways but still we don't need any

television personalities hassling us.

ALLEN

You mean... things like Willie Coyote,

the rocket, stuff like that?

COL. TOOMB

Pretty much. Are you guys sure you're

not spies? TV reality show people?

ELLA

We're not spies! We were only on a

road trip!

Ella glances at Toomb's nameplate on his desk.

ELLA

Say Colonel... you wouldn't be related

to anyone in --

30.

VAUGHN

(interrupting)

Sir, my name is Vaughn. We really

were only on a road trip to see the

desert. We were low on gas and our

car got burned up by a rocket and we

walked this way for help. That's it!

COL. TOOMB

Vaughn, your uncle's name is Joe...

isn't it?

VAUGHN

(shocked)

What? You know my Uncle Joe? How?

COL. TOOMB

Give me a minute on that one Vaughn.

He ties into this. Not to be melodramatic,

but I'm going to show you

three a couple of things that few

civilians have ever seen before.

Major Roug turns off the office lights, closes the shades and

lowers a movie viewing screen from the ceiling. Col. Toomb

rolls out a 1960's-era movie film projector from the office

closet, plugs the projector in and turns it on. Ella smiles

at Vaughn and Allen and mouths "a movie". The projector's

film shows a montage of animations, illustrations and film

clips as Col. Toomb and Major Roug narrates.

MAJOR ROUG (O.S.)

About a million years or so ago in

this area there was a carnivorous

species of furry predators which were

the early predecessors of modern day

coyotes.

By the later stages of their

evolution, they had acquired humanlike

characteristics in appearance,

walking, speech and thought process.

We refer to them as coyote members.

The silent film shows coyote members in prehistoric times in a

primitive land, talking to each other, etc. Major Roug passes

over popcorn and sodas to the trio in the darkened room as the

clicking projector's lens flashes. Ella smiles at Roug.

COLONEL TOOMB (O.S.)

They eventually developed advanced

social and engineering skills along

with a stable root civilization.

They were also very adaptive in

31.

COLONEL TOOMB (O.S.) (cont'd)

inventing, improvising or acquiring

whatever materials that were at hand

so as to accomplish their tasks.

The film shows coyote members in a village working on crude

inventions using primitive tools.

MAJOR ROUG

Architecture became a very important

part of their culture, some which

remains even to this day. Later, they

erected incredibly massive monuments

to mark their existence in time.

FORWARD SCENE FLASH:

Of the Coyote Ceremonial Monument Gorge.

BACK TO SCENE/TOOMB'S OFFICE

ELLA

You mean like the pyramids or

something?

MAJOR ROUG

Well yes Ella, like the pyramids of

sorts. Something to recognize their

cultural passage in the ages. Then,

for some unknown reason, they suddenly

disappeared. Their entire race...

lost to the sands of time.

COL. TOOMB

That's very good Bob... sands of time.

Very dramatic.

MAJOR ROUG

Thank you sir. Let's way fast-forward

now. In the 1940's, a nuclear test

bomb made with a very rare compound

believed to increase the bomb's power

was exploded in this very area.

The film shows an atomic explosion in the desert.

ALLEN

Oh I get it! The nuclear fallout

mutated the coyotes and transformed

them all into into Willie Coyotes!

Like the old science-fiction movies

with giant mutant spiders and ants?

32.

FLASH:

A scene from a 1950's sci-fi film shows a monster ant giving

off it's monster ant sound.

BACK TO SCENE

COL. TOOMB

Not exactly Allen. What did happen

was that the blast's radiation

massively bombarded the coyotes's

inner dna.

MAJOR ROUG

And re-awoke the long dormant "human

coyote" buried deep in the coyote's

genes. There was no quick

transformation like in the old sci-fi

movies you spoke of... but it did

affect all of the coyotes that became

pregnant. Their offspring from that

point on were essentially copies of

their human-like ancestors.

ELLA

Is there a nightclub here on the base

where we can go into that a --

VAUGHN

(interrupting)

Ella... please. Not the time or

place.

Ella rolls her eyes and looks at Vaughn.

ELLA

Conversation burglar! It's not polite

to interrupt people.

Ella looks at Major Roug.

ELLA

Actually, I'm a molecular biologist.

My field relates to the effects of

artificial alterations on dna strands.

So this is all very interesting to me.

ALLEN

Ella has an I.Q. of 184 and graduated

at the top of her class. Number one.

She's smart and quick... but a real

hazard at times. She has no sense of

danger whatsoever until it's too late.

33.

COL. TOOMB

A genuine genius? And fearless too?

You're going to fit in just fine

around here. Hell, we'll probably

hire you. But for now we'll just let

the good Major continue. Major?

ELLA

Sorry.

MAJOR ROUG

That's quite all right Ella. Yes,

there is one nightclub here. Maybe we

can all meet up there tonight.

Anyways, we took the coyote members in

and educated them in the fields of

science and engineering to a very

advanced level. Later, they took over

their own education themselves... a

telling achievement in itself in such

a short time.

The film shows coyote members in a classroom with a calculus

equation on a chalk blackboard. The teacher is also a coyote

member. There is a 1940's-era movie projector in the room.

COL. TOOMB

Where they presently really excel is

in aerospace engineering.

FORWARD SCENE FLASH:

The tip of a huge rocketship sticks out from an underground

silo.

BACK TO SCENE/COL. TOOMB

COLONEL TOOMB

The coyotes themselves established a

well-ordered and sophisticated

society. It is self-governing,

independent... and very determined.

In their own metropolis, which they

named Terra City, they have schools,

communities, malls... just about

everything thing you would find in any

major city.

34.

FLASH:

A Terra City concert hall art deco marquee reads "JEFFERSON

STARSHIP" and "TONIGHT ONLY". Coyote members stream into the

venue.

BACK TO SCENE/MAJOR ROUG

MAJOR ROUG

We and outside vendors supply the

materials they need and the coyote

members themselves provide the labor.

EXT. DESERT ROAD - DAY

The UPS, Fedex and DHL drivers walk down the road. A military

truck approaches and they wave it down.

BACK TO SCENE/MAJOR ROUG

MAJOR ROUG (O.S.)

They have political leaders and a

self-sustaining economy. They live,

die and everything else exactly like

us. They even have cell phones,

incoming internet and a university.

They are an extremely intelligent,

innovative and adaptable race.

The film shows a montage of the modern coyote members going

about their business in their city... going to classes,

voting, talking on cell phones, driving.

COLONEL TOOMB

They are also one hundred percent

dependent on the fine people of this

command to keep them safe, hidden and

protected from the outside world. We

provide that.

ELLA

But what if you do fail? What if

something happens to you guys?

COLONEL TOOMB

We are not their only friends. An

ancient Indian war tribe also live on

these lands. They exist only to watch

over and safeguard the coyote members.

35.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH: (DIFFERENT POV)

The Indian that had been looking towards the open pit that

morning turns and walks away.

BACK TO PRESENT/SCENE

COLONEL TOOMB

Unfortunately, there are those who

seek to destroy the coyote members out

of hate. They feel that the members

are freaks of nature suitable only for

elimination. We don't look upon them

like that. They are our treasures.

EXT. BASE MAIN GATE - DAY

Mr. Badde's invasion force enemy members with their covered

heavy weapons on large trailers prepare to enter the base...

starting of vehicle engines, enemy members get into their

vehicles. L.J. shouts orders.

BACK TO MR. BADDE'S OFFICE - DAY

Mr. Badde sits at his desk looking at a projected financial

spreadsheet with the words "BADDE MINE CORP" written on top.

Mr. Badde twirls a gold coin in his hands as he shifts his

gaze to a desk photograph of an older couple. Written on the

photo is "We love you Son... Mom and Dad". Mr. Badde's

expression turns to anger as he looks at two cremation ash

urns on a shelf in his office inscribed with "Mr. Badde"

& "Mrs. Badde".

DISSOLVE TO:

SUPERIMPOSE - "FOUR YEARS EARLIER"

I/E. CAR - NIGHT - TRAVELING

A car careens quickly down a desert road. A full moon is out.

The car's headlights illuminates the road ahead.

A woman and a man are in the car, which weaves down the road.

MRS. BADDE holds a movie camera and films the road ahead

through the windshield. MR. BADDE, SR. drives with one hand

on the steering wheel. In the other hand he holds a whiskey

bottle.

36.

MRS. BADDE

So we're going to be formal with each

other tonight? Well, Mr. Badde sir if

you please what is the matter? Got no

balls?

MR. BADDE, SR.

No balls? I'll show you no balls.

Mr. Badde takes a drink from the bottle and turns off the

car's headlights. Both laugh as they zoom down the highway.

Mr. Badde accidently drops the whiskey bottle on the

floorboard. Mrs. Badde continues to film the road ahead. Mr.

Badde reaches down to retrieve the bottle and inadvertently

turns the steering wheel, causing the car to swerve.

A startled tween girl coyote member is in the road in front of

the car. The car barely misses her and slams into a telephone

pole. Mrs. Badde's camera flies from the car onto the ground.

The car BURSTS into flames.

CLOSE-UP

Of Mrs. Badde's camera. The lens is pointed towards the

burning car.

BACK TO PRESENT/COL. TOOMB'S OFFICE

MAJOR ROUG

Fortunately, other than watch our

movies and news, the coyote members

show little to no interest to interact

with the outside world. Or to travel

outside of their own lands. They know

that to do so would mean the end of

their way of life and themselves.

ELLA

But what about Willie Coyote? He

looks so different from them. They

look almost like regular people but he

looks like a real toy stuffed animal.

Col. Toomb walks over to the projector and turns it off.

Major Roug opens the curtains.

COL. TOOMB

We're going to go off the standard

tour here. Ok, Willie Coyote... to

put it briefly, Willie is a very

special star around this whole place.

37.

The sunlight in the office dims. Everybody looks out the

window. A blimp appears overhead floating over Toomb's

office, blocking out the sun. Willie is in the blimp's cabin

looking ahead through binoculars.

COLONEL TOOMB

Speak of the devil. Major, that

wouldn't be our MZ-3 blimp now, would

it?

MAJOR ROUG

That's an excellent eye you got there

Colonel. Yes sir, that definitely is

our blimp. Actually, we've been

expecting this. Its all part of a

live unscheduled training exercise.

A base MP helicopter hovers around the blimp. A caravan of

confused MP'S in humvees follow and film the blimp as it

floats away.

INT. MP HELICOPTER - DAY

CO-PILOT

So what are we supposed to do now?

Shoot it down? Are you frigging

kidding me or what? And get back a

blimp that's full of holes? You'll

never be samurai.

PILOT

How the crum do I know? You ever

drill for this kind of shit before?

Just wing it moron.

BACK TO TOOMB'S OFFICE

COL. TOOMB

So then... what we have here is

basically... an asset tracking and

recovery operation in effect?

MAJOR ROUG

Of course sir. That's it exactly.

INT/EXT. BLIMP - DAY

Willie scratches his rump as he steers the blimp towards a

rocky road tunnel located elsewhere on the base. Near the

tunnel entrance, the Roadrunner pecks on a pile of bird seed

identified by a hand-written "FREE BIRDSEED" sign stuck in it.

38.

Willie halts the blimp when it is over the Roadrunner.

Willie picks up an anvil off of the gondola floor. He hangs

the anvil out the cabin window and lets go of it, which drops

down towards the Roadrunner. At the last second the

Roadrunner steps aside and the anvil plants into the ground.

The Roadrunner looks at the anvil, making a rapid tongue

movement and sound. The Roadrunner quickly finishes the meal

and runs into the tunnel. Willie pulls the lanyards of six

rocket-powered grappling hooks that are jury-rigged on the

outside of the blimp's cabin. The hooks fly. One of the

hooks goes off course, circles around and punctures the skin

of the blimp, which begins to leak air.

The rest of the hooks anchor around the rocky exterior of the

tunnel entrance. Willie pulls a winch handle to pulls the

deflating blimp towards the tunnel. He looks down at the

ground and sees a used bucket of black paint and paint brush

lying on the ground. A pained look comes over Willie's face.

WILLIE'S MEMORY FLASHBACK:

EXT. ROAD/TUNNEL ENTRANCE - DAY

Willie paints the solid rock cliff and the ground below it to

make it look like there is a road leading into a tunnel there.

BACK TO PRESENT/WILLIE

EXT. TUNNEL ENTRANCE AREA - DAY

Willie braces for a crash into the painted rocks just as the

blimp reaches them. Instead, the deflated blimp gets sucked

into the tunnel entrance as if there really were a tunnel

there. A CRASH is heard inside the tunnel. The Roadrunner

runs out of the tunnel, followed by a military truck that has

Willie spread out on it's dented hood with his form pressed

into it. The truck drags the deflated blimp behind it.

The UPS/Fedex/DHL delivery van guys ride in the cab of the

truck. They have stunned looks on their faces as they look at

Willie through the windshield. The blimp becomes unattached

from the truck. The UPS driver looks back and sees that the

tunnel they came out of now looks to be only painted rocks.

INT. MILITARY TRUCK CAB - DAY

39.

UPS DRIVER

So how do we tell the military how we

damaged the truck they let us borrow

after we wrecked our own vans? Tell

them we ran into Willie Coyote and a

blimp in a tunnel that doesn't exist?

Who's gonna believe that?

FEDEX DRIVER

We'd better come up with a better

story than that. So you gonna stop

and let him off the hood or what? You

got my best customer out there Jack.

DHL DRIVER

Mine too. But we've already had three

wrecks today. Having yet another

wreck on the same day in somebody's

else's truck needs proof of innocence.

I say we take him with us as proof.

Don't stop.

Willie is propped up on one elbow on the hood, impatiently

rapping his fingers on it as they motor down the road. The

delivery drivers laugh and point their fingers at Willie.

Willie jumps off the truck, rolls in the dirt, gets up and

walks off, irritated and looking back at the truck. As the

truck moves down the road, Willie pulls a remote control out

of his hide pocket and pushes a button on it. A solid wall of

steel pops up instantly from underneath the roadway right in

front of the truck.

Screams and screeching brakes are heard from the truck as it

CRASHES into the wall of steel. The truck's occupants stumble

out from the truck, shaken but with only minor injuries.

The Roadrunner runs back by and Willie chases after the

Roadrunner, who runs back into the tunnel. Willie reaches the

tunnel. It has changed back into painted rock and Willie

SMASHES into it. Willie falls backwards onto the ground,

flattened. The MP company arrives. They are confused as they

see Willie on his back, the blimp's wreckage, the military

truck's wreckage and the delivery drivers staggering around.

BACK TO MP HELICOPTER

The helicopter passes over the scene. The pilot and co-pilot

look down.

CO-PILOT

I hope you realize that all of this is

your responsibility. After all... I'm

only the co-pilot. Don't drag me down

with you. Unlike you, I still got a

promising future.

40.

PILOT

Shut up and let me think or I'll push

you out the door like they did in that

movie. You'll never be geisha.

BACK TO COL. TOOMB'S OFFICE

MAJOR ROUG

No, Willie does not look like the

others of his species. He is a oneof-

a-kind. The coyote members are

human in appearance except for their

furry ears. Willie looks more like a

real stuffed animal as you said.

COLONEL TOOMB

And he never gives up. He can't. He

does not know how to. It is simply

not in his nature.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH:

The crate labeled "R.P.V.(M)" now has a rope tied around it

and is being dragged off through the dirt, one pull at a time.

BACK TO SCENE/COL TOOMB:

COL. TOOMB

Willie is not only oblivious of us but

pretty much also of his own people.

Living apart from them, he schemes

non-stop in his own solitary world

with his only one all-burning and allconsuming

goal... to catch the

Roadrunner. Yes Ella, just like in

the cartoons.

ELLA

Why does he look so different from the

others? What made him that way?

MAJOR ROUG

Unlike the other coyotes who had

received an indirect exposure from the

atomic bomb blast, Willie's pregnant

mother was directly at ground zero

when the bomb exploded. Amazingly,

she survived long enough to give birth

to Willie.

41.

MAJOR ROUG (cont'd)

In his case, being in such close

proximity to the blast had a much

different effect on him.

COL. TOOMB

A freak strain of gamma rays invaded

his dna within the womb, giving his

body amazing abilities that no other

living thing has.

ELLA

Like what?

MAJOR ROUG

Mainly the ability for his body to

absorb an unbelievable level of shock

which would instantly kill anyone

else. His body simply stretches or

disintegrates, only to be completely

restored within a very short time.

BACK TO TUNNEL ENTRANCE:

Willie wobbles away from the painted rocks.

BACK TO TOOMB'S OFFICE:

ALLEN

We saw a jet going by when the boulder

landed on him. What's the deal with

that?

PRIOR SCENE FLASH:

Of the recon jet taking photos of them after the dynamite

boulder dropped on Willie. The group looks up at the jet.

MAJOR ROUG (O.S.)

That was one of our reconnaissance

jets. Willie's efforts to capture the

Roadrunner goes beyond the pale and is

enormously entertaining and super good

for morale. Naturally, Willie has

been adopted as our mascot.

The recon jet flies away from the open pit area. A cartoon

Willie Coyote figure is painted on the jet's tail.

42.

BACK TO PRESENT/TOOMB'S OFFICE:

COL. TOOMB

We are not the only ones to have had

Willie as a mascot.

FORWARD SCENE FLASH:

EXT. RIVER - NIGHT

The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Point Welcome is under aerial

attack. The boat's cartoon Willie Coyote mascot emblem

painted on it's hull takes bomb damage during the attack.

INT. WILLIE'S CAVE - DAY

Willie drags the crate labeled "R.P.V.-M" into his cave. He

sits down and stares out vacantly for a few moments. Willie

stands up and goes to the back of his cave and retrieves an

old and beat-up music box. Willie lifts the box's lid and

winds the crank on the box and a tune plays. A look of defeat

is on Willie's face.

Willie grabs some blueprints and examines them, then tosses

them aside. He gets an "eureka" expression and grabs a blank

blueprint. Willie sits down and scribbles furiously for a

moment, then stands up and holds the print, titled ROCKET TEST

TOWER off at arms length. He is clearly delighted with his

new idea.

FORWARD SCENE FLASH:

Of a huge multi-storied rocket engine test tower located on a

remote part of the base.

BACK TO SCENE/WILLIE

Willie's new split blueprint shows the rocket engine test

tower and a road which goes by it. One side of the blueprint

shows a stick figure of the speeding Roadrunner on the road.

The blueprint shows Willie poised to jump from the roof of the

tower. A cord is tied around him which goes to a pulley on

the roof of the tower and then down to a stake on the ground.

A dotted line goes down from Willie to the road below to

indicate he jumps from the tower down to the road. The other

side of the blueprint shows him having jumped from the tower

and grabbed the Roadrunner on the road below.

43.

BACK TO MR. BADDE'S OFFICE

Mrs. Badde's scratched camera is hooked up to a tv. Mr. Badde

has a grim expression as he watches it. The sound of a crash

and of Mr. Badde's parents screaming is heard from the tv.

BACK TO COL. TOOMB'S OFFICE

COL. TOOMB

A very angry man is on the move now

and is playing for keeps. We have

come to the end of it. Until we can

get your car fixed, I'm afraid that

for now you will be our guests.

However, you do have the freedom to

move around on the base within reason

and...

Col. Toomb hesitates, grabs his side and a pained look comes

over him. He gives Major Roug a "get them out of here now"

look.

MAJOR ROUG

(hurriedly)

Well folks, that's all for now, your

escorts will take you to your quarters

now...

Major Roug summons two MP's standing outside the office door.

They politely but quickly usher Ella, Allen and Vaughn out of

the office.

VAUGHN

(upset)

Why are you telling us all of this?!

Where is my Uncle Joe?! What have you

done with him?!

Ella looks back and sees Col. Toomb collapse against his desk.

Major Roug rushes towards him and leads him to a couch. A MP

carefully hands Sid to Ella.

EXT. BASE ENTRANCE/GUARDHOUSE - DAY

Mr. Badde's invasion force consisting of a large convoy of

trucks and thousands of enemy members are gathered just

outside the base.

The damaged front gate has been tied together in a makeshift

repair. Several trucks tow covered trailers that have gun

barrels sticking out slightly from under the covers. One

trailer has a cover with "EXPERIMENTAL" lettered on it.

44.

L.J. talks on a satellite phone and is in good spirits. The

base gate guards are accompanied by a distressed base officer

as he talks on his phone. The officer shakes his head and

examines papers from the "hunting party". The officer nods

unhappily to the guards, who reluctantly raises the gate to

allow the invasion force members onto the base. An angry

young officer inside the guardhouse pulls his sidearm out.

YOUNG OFFICER

Screw this noise!

The officer is tackled and restrained by his fellow guards

with a great deal of shouting and empathy.

L.J. sees the commotion and smiles as he waves his forces onto

the base.

I/E. COL. TOOMB'S BASE RESIDENCE - DAY

A nice house sits by itself on a quiet street. Ella walks out

of the steaming bathroom in small underwear and a towel over

her hair. Sid lies in a doggie bed. Storage coverings are

draped over some of the furniture in the house.

ELLA

That was the best shower I ever had!

And Sid just loves his new bed that

the nice lady at the px gave him.

This is such a super house... I wonder

why nobody stays here?

Ella puts down a bowl of water and food next to Sid's bed and

begins dressing.

ALLEN

I can't believe this. Not only do we

not get busted, but they give us this

nice place to stay in and these nifty

passes so we can walk around without

escorts. I got the feeling they've

got bigger fish to fry than us.

VAUGHN

Remember Ella, no straying away from

the club or it's curtains for all of

us. So don't even think about it

girl. And no tramping!

ELLA

Hah! Look who's talking... one half

of the Jerky Boys! Top gun fellas,

here I come.

45.

ELLA (cont'd)

Finally, a chance to meet a real man!

Who-da-thought? Ok you two... you

know I'm kidding.

A happy Ella gives Vaughn and Allen a quick kiss on their

cheeks and finishes dressing. She folds her skirt hem up a

few inches and tapes it in place. She pushes up and adjusts

her tube top. As she hums and puts on makeup, Allen and

Vaughn look at her and at each other. Ella looks in a mirror

as she "practices" picking up an imaginary item off the floor.

ELLA

How clumsy of me! -- You'll get it? --

Thanks so much, it's just hard to bend

over like a lady in this tight skirt.

Normally I don't wear anything this

short but it was the only thing they

had that would fit. Do you like it?

-- Oh thanks so much -- Hey, are you

a pilot or something?

ALLEN

(under his breath)

I pity the poor bastard...

EXT. DESERT - DUSK

The Roadrunner runs along a road. Willie pulls up behind the

Roadrunner on a vehicle which looks like a missile on three

wheels. Willie lies down on top of the vehicle grasping it's

handlebars. The vehicle has a set of lawnmower blades up in

front of it. When Willie is almost upon the Roadrunner, he

pulls a cord which starts another engine in the front of the

vehicle which powers the blades.

The lawnmower blades spin at a furious rate. Willie catches

up to the Roadrunner. His vehicle's rear tire hits a rock in

the road, throwing Willie off and in front of the vehicle.

Willie gets up and runs ahead of the vehicle in an attempt to

escape it, but it catches up and literally mows him down,

cutting his backside fur flat down to his bare skin. Willie

gets up and walks away, fuming as his fur falls off of him.

INT. BASE NIGHTCLUB - (DUSK)

Ella, Vaughn and Allen sit at a table drinking beer. People

sit at tables and at the bar. Some play pool. Vaughn and

Allen talk quietly to each other. Ella pretends to be

listening in while she sneaks glances at the club's male

patrons. She spots several pilots at a table, gets up and

walks towards them. Major Rouge is passed out at the table.

46.

ELLA

Wish me luck!

ALLEN

Here we go again.

Two pilots (FRANK AND EVE) watch Ella approach. Frank nudges

Eve, a stunning female.

FRANK

These must be the guys we heard about.

Now that is one worthy airframe.

EVE

Down boy. You might want to check her

maintenance and damage logs first.

Ella "accidently" drops her purse as she passes Frank and Eve.

Frank leans down to pick up it up.

ELLA

How clumsy of me! Oh, you'll get it?

Thanks so much, it's so hard to... oh!

Frank picks up Ella's purse and looks into her eyes.

Ella and Frank look at each other for a moment, transfixed

with each other's gaze. Frank comes to his senses and pulls

out a chair.

FRANK

Would you like to sit down?

ELLA

Well, I'm with my best friends over

there, but neither one is my

boyfriend. I don't have one. We were

on a road trip and somehow ended up

here. I'm Ella.

FRANK

Frank. Is that right? How come you

don't have a boyfriend? Do you want

one?

Eve elbows Frank hard below the table surface. He winces.

FRANK

This is Eve.

ELLA

Hi Eve! Anyway, I just can't seem to

meet anybody who can appreciate me for

how I am.

47.

FRANK

What's up with that? How so?

ELLA

Well, I'm smart, sweet... and

virginal.

Vaughn and Allen spray beer out of their mouths out of shock.

Ella gives them a dirty look. Eve turns and rolls her eyes.

FRANK

Hey why don't your friends join us?

Ella sits down and waves Vaughn and Allen over to the table.

They pick up their drinks, walk over and sit down. They all

shake hands.

ELLA

Guys, this is Eve and Frank. Eve and

Frank, this is Vaughn and Allen.

EVE

Sooo... what brings you guys to this

citadel of doom anyways? I heard that

you had a pretty good look at our

locals of a furry and feather nature?

Pretty crazy stuff, is it not?

ELLA

We still can't believe what we saw.

Is it all real?

FRANK

Oh, it's real enough. But I can't

explain it to you just right now.

ELLA

Oh, and why is that?

FRANK

Because right now it's time for you to

dance! Yes I said dance! Dance for

the Captain!

Frank grabs Ella, who has a big smile on her face. A loud

80's techno song plays in the club. Ella and Frank dance.

Several men in the club cut in, shoving each other away while

giving the previous dancer a mock disdainful look. Several

girls push their men towards Ella to allow them to dance with

her. Everybody in the club wildly dances. A slow dance plays

as a handsome young pilot cuts in and dances with Ella.

An ecstatic Ella looks over to Vaughn and Allen and

mouths "thank you". Vaughn and Allen tip their beers

together. Frank cuts back in with the attention-starved Ella.

48.

The song ends.

ELLA

(elated)

Should we all sit down for a minute?

Eve and Frank sit at Ella's table. Ella sits between Vaughn

and Allen and puts her arms around them.

FRANK

I understand you guys had a chat with

our commander? So what did he have to

say? Anything interesting?

VAUGHN

I'm not sure we're supposed to talk

about it. I think it was a secret.

FRANK

He went over with you about our

superstar Willie and the coyote

members, didn't he?

ALLEN

He did talk about Willie and them but

he didn't say anything about... uhh...

EVE

The Roadrunner? Or simply "The Bird"

as some affectionately call her.

ELLA

Her? What?! The Roadrunner is a

girl? Are you kidding me?

Several nearby club patrons look over and listen into their

conversation. The club's music volume lowers.

EVE

Nope... not kidding. And there's no

real secrets here. It's kind of hard

to overlook what's right in front or

even above you sometimes.

FLASHBACK:

EXT. BASE - DAY

Eve and Frank talk to each other on a road on a remote part of

the base. The Roadrunner quickly zips by them. A very lowflying

U-2 jet appears and comes towards them. The U-2

SCREAMS directly over them, knocking them down. Willie is in

the U-2's cockpit and closes in on the Roadrunner.

49.

Hot on the U-2's heels is a base recon jet. Both jets

disappear in seconds. The MP helicopter zooms by. A caravan

of MP vehicles speed by. Eve and Frank laugh at the comical

parade.

EVE (O.S.)

Sometimes Willie likes to borrow base

assets when he can't get what he needs

from the outside.

FLASHBACK:

EXT. BASE/RUNWAY - DAY

Willie sneaks onto the runway, climbs into the running U-2 jet

and taxis down the runway as the U-2's pilot runs after it,

shouting and waving his arms. Willie flies the U-2 into the

sky. The pilot comes to a halt and throws his helmet down.

BACK TO PRESENT/SCENE:

EVE

It's got so bad that an entire MP

company has been assigned to try to

keep Willie from stealing and wrecking

our stuff. But he's extremely wily.

They can't catch him at everything.

FRANK

The security was really stepped up

after the U-2 deal. The Colonel

himself saw to that after... after...

Frank and Eve have difficulty not to laugh out loud.

FLASHBACK:

INT. COL. TOOMB'S OFFICE - DAY

Col. Toomb looks at random far-off places around the base

through his powerful telescope. He swings it around and stops

when he spots Willie far off in the distance. Willie pulls

the lanyard of a base artillery cannon to fire it at the

Roadrunner as she runs by him. The shell misses the

Roadrunner and heads for Toomb's office.

COL. TOOMB

Of course.

50.

SLOW MOTION

The shell smashes through Col. Toomb's office window as he

dives for the floor. The shell flies into a wall and smokes.

RESUME NORMAL MOTION

PRIOR SCENE FLASH:

Of the framed ACME shell in the wall in Col. Toomb's office.

BACK TO PRESENT/CLUB

Frank and Eve laugh and Eve starts coughing. Frank thumps Eve

on the back. Ella, Vaughn and Allen laugh as well as some of

the club's patrons who have pulled up chairs around the table.

FRANK

Being a Acme shell it was a dud of

course. It hit a steel beam in the

wall and sits there to this day. It

was defused and the Colonel had it

framed in place as a souvenir.

ELLA

How does Willie pay for all his stuff

and packages... you know, all of the

Acme things?

FRANK

The coyote members themselves have a

special fund set up in their economy

to partially fund his orders. And of

course we have a voluntary fund with

one hundred percent participation.

It's kind of funny... Willie has our

sympathy, but nobody wants the

Roadrunner to be his dinner either.

ELLA

Maybe he doesn't really want to eat

her. Maybe he just wants to kiss her.

Maybe she's just playing hard to get.

Hasn't anybody ever thought of that?

More of the club's patrons have pulled up chairs around their

table. Most of the club's other patrons are now looking over

and listening to the conversation. The club's music is now

off.

51.

VAUGHN

How do you manage to keep this whole

thing secret? How come nobody on the

outside knows about this place or the

coyote members?

EVE

Unfortunately, there are those who do

know. Not everyone would let them

just be. They do have one enemy in

particular who is a very powerful man,

both politically and financially. He

wants them wiped off of these lands

out of greed and revenge.

BACK TO MR. BADDE'S OFFICE - NIGHT

Mr. Badde watches the film that his mother was shooting when

his parents wrecked in the desert. He sees the girl coyote

member in the roadway as the car swerves and smashes into the

telephone pole. Badde's parents scream as they are burned

alive. Badde balls up his fist and a look of rage comes over

his face. Badde rewinds the film and runs it again until the

girl coyote member is visible in the road. He freezes the

film and stares at her with hate. He picks up his desk phone.

MR. BADDE

(into phone)

Get my helicopter ready.

BACK TO SCENE/CLUB

FRANK

Now as to the Roadrunner... her

pregnant mother got caught up in the

same ground zero blast as Willie with

almost the same effect. Her dna also

changed back to that of her ancestors.

EVE

Like what happened with Willie, it

gave her a huge increase in size,

speed and a big difference in her

appearance. All she does is run and

all he does is chase.

FRANK

On and off the base, unfortunately.

They go where they want. It was

during one of their off-base jaunts

when your car met Willie's rocket.

52.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH: (DIFFERENT P.O.V.)

Willie's rocket zooms over their car.

BACK TO SCENE/CLUB

EVE

The coyote members themselves have a

closed cable TV channel that's

dedicated to just watch Willie and his

antics. They follow and film him when

they can. They also get a direct feed

from the recon jet. It's their

favorite show.

ELLA

The Colonel said something about some

Indians keeping an eye on the coyotes?

By now, everybody in the club is either now seated or standing

near their table and quietly looking on. The bartender turns

off the porch light, locks the door and hangs a "closed" sign

in the window. Another bartender draws the shades and brings

some drinks to the table.

FRANK

(quietly)

A Indian war tribe inhabited this area

at the same time as the ancient coyote

race. We believe their only purpose

was to watch over the coyote members.

However, the tribe seems to have

vanished at about the same time that

the coyote members disappeared.

Nobody knows why or where they all

went... although there is a legend

about a secret Indian cave. We don't

know.

EVE

Descendants of the tribe re-emerged in

the last century. They are highly

secretive and elusive, living

primitively in the wild much as their

ancestors did. We don't even know

what the tribe's real name is.

FRANK

We have little to no contact with

them. They won't allow it.

53.

FRANK (cont'd)

They reject any authority other than

themselves. The only link between

them and us is through their Chief and

our very own Colonel Toomb.

ELLA

Toomb? Hey, is he sick or something?

PRIOR SCENE FLASHBACK:

BACK TO COL. TOOMB'S OFFICE

Col. Toomb collapses against his desk as Ella, Vaughn and

Allen are being shooed out of his office. Major Roug helps

Toomb to a couch, then hurries to pick up a desk phone.

COL. TOOMB

Don't Bob! Not now... for God's sake

not now. We've got too much riding on

this. I've got to be here for what is

coming. When this is over I'll go to

medical. I promise.

Major Roug reluctantly hangs up the phone as Col. Toomb takes

a several pills out of his shirt pocket and swallows them.

Roug brings a glass of water over to him.

BACK TO PRESENT/CLUB

Eve looks at Frank, who nods at her.

EVE

Toomb was a military brat kid here at

the time of the atomic blast. His

father and the tribe's last Chief

found both the baby Roadrunner and

Willie. The Chief revived his tribe's

ancient duty to protect the coyote

members. He shared this task with

Toomb's father, who was this base's

commander back then. Both of them

died years ago and both of their sons

took up that responsibility up to this

very day.

FRANK

As far as Toomb's health is

concerned... it's been failing for

some time now. It's been decades

since he's flown.

54.

FRANK (cont'd)

He stayed on here anyway because he

feels it is his duty to do whatever he

could to keep Willie and his people

safe for as long as he was able to.

EVE

The ground guys keep that old jet of

his airworthy and operational though.

The jet itself is a legend, just like

the Colonel. The brass thinks it had

been dismantled for parts. It's been

hidden here for years in an old

hanger, out of sight and mind.

FORWARD SCENE FLASH:

Toomb's F-4 jet in a deserted and dim airplane hanger.

BACK TO SCENE/FRANK

FRANK

He's at the end of his time here

anyways. He's due to retire the day

after tomorrow.

FRANK

What's really sad about the whole

thing is that the GEO recently

stumbled upon his jet during an

surprise inventory. It's to be taken

out of the hanger and scrapped... sort

of like the Colonel himself.

EVE

In two days, both Toomb and his plane

will be gone. We tried to have a

going-away party for him but he

wouldn't have it. He hates any

publicity or attention to himself.

All he does these days is worry about

what will happen to everyone here.

And for good reason.

FRANK

The word is that the base has been

sold at auction and is being closed

any day now. It's coming to an end,

everything, all of it. And we can't

do a damm thing to stop it.

55.

There is silence for a moment. A few of the people in the

club turn their heads away.

EVE

This whole place has been hanging on

by a thread and has been so for some

time. It seems like nearly every week

there is a new challenge to this house

of cards... but this one is the worse

ever.

EXT. BASE - NIGHT

Mr. Badde's invasion force are now garrisoned inside the base

and preparing for their attack. Hilltop and ground sensors

are being put into place, orders are shouted, lights are

erected.

L.J. is in a satellite video conference with Mr. Badde.

L.J.

What's the rush? Why not just wait a

couple of days until the military can

clear out? I'm not a murderer.

MR. BADDE

Because I don't want any of those

freaks to escape in the meantime. You

get paid to carry out my orders so

carry them out. Just do your job.

BACK TO OFFICER'S CLUB

FRANK

It's time to hit the hay. We've got a

big day tomorrow. We're doing a test

on a shuttle main rocket engine. Why

don't you guys join us? We'll be at

the cement block house just up from

the testing tower. The test is at

0800 hours prompt. Don't be late.

Ella looks over at Vaughn and Allen and sees that they are

talking to girls in the club. Ella smiles at this and looks

back at Frank.

ELLA

Sure. But don't you want to walk me

back to my room or something?

56.

Eve is behind Ella. Frank glances at her. Eve squints "ok"

with her eyes.

FRANK

You don't look like the kind of girl

that hears "no" very often. Let's go.

FADE TO BLACK:

ELLA (O.S.)

Kiss me.

INT. BASE RESIDENCE - DAY (MORNING)

Vaughn and Allen drink coffee. Ella walks into the residence.

VAUGHN

Well, don't you look bubbly this

morning, so bright and early.

ALLEN

Hubba-hubba. So pretty too.

ELLA

You guys. I'm glad that the PX is

open so early. And thanks for the

loan. Oh, the lady at the PX said she

would watch Sid today so I left him

with her. She loves him.

The phone RINGS. Vaughn and Allen look at it and then at

Ella, who answers it.

ELLA

(into phone)

Hello? -- Oh hi Mr. Toomb!

Ella visibly brightens.

ELLA

(into phone)

Yes, we're all fine -- no, we don't

need anything -- what? -- well, we're

all going with Eve and Frank to see a

rocket test or something -- yes, I'll

be careful -- no, we won't not wander

off on our own -- ok -- bye bye.

Ella hangs up the phone, smiling.

ELLA

That is such a nice man! He was just

checking to see if everything was ok.

57.

VAUGHN

There's a base taxi waiting outside to

take us to the test tower. You guys

ready to go?

EXT. ROCKET ENGINE TESTING TOWER - DAY (LATER)

Ella, Vaughn and Allen get out of a taxi next to the massive

tower. The taxi leaves. There is nobody in sight. A siren

is attached to the tower. Revolving yellow lights sit on the

ground around the tower. A cord goes from a pulley on the

roof of the tower down to a stake in the ground. A cement

blockhouse sits a short distance away. A road goes by the

tower. Vaughn looks up at the tower.

VAUGHN

Man that thing is big! What, about

ten stories or so?

ALLEN

At least. What's with these lights?

VAUGHN

Caution lights. They must be about

ready to run the test. There's the

blockhouse Frank told us about. We'd

better get going.

FADE TO:

SUPERIMPOSE: "THE FALL OF ELLA"

BACK TO SCENE/TOWER

Ella looks up at the tower. She is impressed by its size.

ELLA

Hey you guys, why don't we take a fast

closer look at this thing? I bet it's

neat in there.

VAUGHN

I don't think that's a very good idea.

Good God Ella why do you have to do

this to us every time? Sometimes you

just have to take your foot off of the

pedal!

58.

ELLA

I just want a quick look. When will

we get another chance like this?

Allen can stay out here and keep an

eye out. Oh come on you two... don't

be wusses. We've got time.

INT. CEMENT BLOCKHOUSE - DAY

Eve, Frank and technicians are inside. Tower camera monitors

are there. Ella, Vaughn and Allen are periodically visible in

them. The technicians are busy with other things and they go

unnoticed. A wall clock shows 0744 hrs.

EVE

Are we about ready to get this show on

the road? If those guys don't show up

real soon --

FRANK

-- Some other time I guess. Ok... it

is now t-minus 16 minutes...

EXT. ROAD GOING BY TOWER - DAY

The distant Roadrunner runs towards the tower.

BACK TO BLOCKHOUSE

A slouching technician looks at a panel. An button

labeled "INITIATING FIRING SEQUENCE" lights up on a panel.

This surprises him. He sits up straight, looks at the button

and at the wall clock which shows 0745 hrs. He checks his

wristwatch and looks over at the others in the blockhouse.

TECHNICIAN

Uhh... fellas?

BACK TO TOWER

Ella quickly walks up the tower's stairs, accompanied by a

reluctant Vaughn. An apprehensive Allen is outside the tower

watching the revolving yellow lights.

ELLA

Wow! This place is incredible!

The tower vents some steam.

59.

VAUGHN

(alarmed)

Do you see that!? We got to go now,

and I mean right now Ella! No

arguments!

As Ella turns around she looks up at the tower's roof.

ELLA

Ok ok ok... hey, who is that up on the

roof?!

Ella rushes up the stairs leading to the roof. Vaughn hurries

after her, yelling.

VAUGHN

Ella no! We've got to go now!

Allen dutifully monitors the tower's ground yellow revolving

warning lights. They turn red. A look of alarm fills his

face. He yells and runs towards the tower waving his arms.

ALLEN

Red! The lights are red! Get out of

there now!

Ella has almost reached the roof of the tower as Vaughn

hurries yelling after her. She looks down and sees that Allen

is yelling up at them. She stops, cups her ears and looks

down towards Allen. The tower's warning siren BLARES. A low

rumbling sound from the tower is heard and grows much louder

very quickly to a deafening ROAR.

ELLA

Oh... Shit!

The tower SHAKES violently as the rocket engine inside

IGNITES, giving off an enormous amount of steam. Ella turns

around and runs down the stairs but in her hurry she trips and

falls onto a shaking roof of the tower. There are large

boulders on the ground far below the roof.

Ella slides towards the edge of the roof. Vaughn frantically

tries to make his way towards her. Allen climbs up onto the

boulders directly below Ella and lays his body across them.

Ella SCREAMS in terror as she looks down and sees the ground

below her. She slides to the edge of the roof and hangs onto

it. Her grip loosens.

ELLA

Vaughn help!

60.

Vaughn panics and jumps wildly towards her. He lands on the

same vibrating roof Ella is on, slides right by her and falls

off the roof as Ella loses her grip and falls off with him.

As Ella falls, several of her life's memories flash before

her.

ELLA'S MEMORY FLASHBACK:

EXT. HOME/BACKYARD - DAY

Ella, Vaughn and Allen play together when they were toddlers.

They tug over a toy plane. Ella manages to pull the toy away

to herself. Vaughn and Allen look at each other. A woman

watches over them.

WOMAN

Ella, it's Vaughn's and Allen's turn

to play with that. Let them have it

for a while... you've had it all day!

ELLA'S MEMORY FLASHBACK:

EXT/INT. TREEHOUSE - DAY

Eight year old Ella enters a treehouse that has a crude sign

nailed on the outside with "NO GERLS ALOUD" painted on it.

Vaughn and Allen are inside the tree house. They look at Ella

with alarm as she enters. Vaughn and Allen look at each other

with resignation.

ELLA'S MEMORY FLASHBACK:

INT. AUDITORIUM - NIGHT

In the b.g. a large banner reads "CONGRATS BROOKS HIGH SCHOOL

GRADS". Ella smiles as she sits between Vaughn and Allen.

BACK TO PRESENT/SCENE/ALLEN

Allen cringes on the rocks below Ella and closes his eyes.

Thick smoke and vapor surrounds the entire area around the

tower, obscuring everything. The noise is DEAFENING.

FLASH:

61.

EXT. CEMETERY - DAY

A formal funeral graveside service is in progress. A fuzzy

picture of a girl resembling Ella sits on a casket.

MINISTER

... and all who loved her yesterday

will love her even more tomorrow...

BACK TO SCENE/TOWER

SERIES OF SHOTS - ELLA'S FALL

A) Ella and Vaughn fall together. Vapor obscures them.

B) The Roadrunner approaches the tower on the road in

the b.g.

C) A pile of bungee cord on the ground quickly unwinds

from a stake. The end of the cord holds to the

stake for a second, becomes untied and flies away.

D) Allen opens his eyes and looks up. The vapor clears.

WILLIE COYOTE dangles just above Allen from the bungee cord

that is tied from him up to the pulley on the tower's roof.

Willie holds Ella in one arm. Willie holds Vaughn in the

other arm. Ella and Vaughn stare at Willie in disbelief as

they bounce up and down with him.

EXT. ROCKET ENGINE TEST TOWER/ROOF - DAY

Willie's rocket tower blueprint lies on the tower's roof. The

blueprint blows off of the tower's roof and away with the wind

towards the blockhouse.

FRANK (O.S.)

Oh crap! Shut it down! Cut it off!

Willie drops a short distance to the ground with Ella and

Vaughn in his arms. They tumble onto the ground and stand up.

The noise from the tower dies down. The revolving lights

stop. Ella has a delighted expression on her face as she

looks at Willie.

ELLA

You! Thanks... uh... Willie? Can I

call you that? Thanks for saving our

lives! I can't believe it's finally

you! Can I get a hug?

62.

Willie raises his arms and Ella rushes to hug him. She

reluctantly lets him go after the hug and hangs onto his

shoulder.

ALLEN

Unbelievable! Thanks for helping us

Willie... if it wasn't for you, we'd

all be dead right now. We owe you for

that bigtime.

VAUGHN

Yah... thanks... thanks a lot! Whew!

Never came that close to death before.

With Ella still clinging onto him, Willie looks in Ella's

eyes. Willie looks in Vaughn's and then Allen's eyes as they

look back at him in wonder. Willie faces Allen.

WILLIE

(speaking in a cultured

accent)

Allen, my long-lost friend! It's been

much too long. And how is dear dear

mumsy these days... well I hope?

Allen looks at Willie in complete confusion.

ALLEN'S

What? How did you know my name?

Willie turns to face Ella.

WILLIE

Ella Ella Ella. Brightest than the

brightest star... such incomparable

beauty. Use it girlfriend! I was so

very glad to hear that you were

starting to make your movie. Your dad

is so proud of you.

This thoroughly puzzles Ella.

ELLA

My dad? He died right after I was

born. I'm making a movie? Huh?

Perplexed, Ella nevertheless beams with Willie's compliment.

She holds him a little closer and strokes his long furry ears

in fascination. Willie turns to Vaughn.

WILLIE

Vaughn my boy! I was delighted to

receive the telegram about you finally

deciding to come visit. Your Uncle

Joe is so excited!

63.

VAUGHN

Telegram? I don't understand. My

Uncle Joe?! He really is here?!

WILLIE

Well of course he's here young man.

He's my very best friend. Why, hardly

does a day pass when he does not brag

about his favorite nephew.

VAUGHN

(overcome)

He has been here the whole time! But

how is it that you know him?

FADE TO:

PRIOR SCENE FLASHBACK:

EXT. CANYON/CLIFF - DAY

Uncle Joe's rocket Impala flies over the canyon.

Uncle Joe bails out of the car through an open window just

before the car crashes onto the cliff. He bounces onto the

cliff's wall. His body tumbles down to the canyon floor and

lays still.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. CANYON FLOOR - DAY (LATER)

Willie Coyote and Colonel Toomb pick up Uncle Joe and carry

him away. They are assisted by several coyote members.

BACK TO PRESENT/SCENE

WILLIE

All in good time my boy, all in good

time. We have a lot of catching...

Willie freezes and stares intently behind the group.

ELLA

Willie? Willie! Whats wrong with

him? Why doesn't he say something?

Ella waves her hand in front of Willie's face. Ella, Vaughn

and Allen turn around at the same time. Behind them is the

ROADRUNNER. She stands on the end of the bungee cord that had

unraveled from the stake on the ground minutes earlier.

64.

The Roadrunner looks at them with great curiosity. Ella

exclaims in delight and releases Willie after giving him a

cheek kiss. Ella walks over to the Roadrunner.

ELLA

Well hello! I'm so glad to meet you

too! Uhh... how are you?

Ella looks down at the Roadrunner's feet and sees that they

stand on the end of the bungee cord.

ELLA

You and Willie saved our lives. I

love both of you. Thank you!

The Roadrunner bows to acknowledge the thanks. Ella looks

back at Willie, who continues to stare at the Roadrunner.

ELLA

Willie? Are you ok? He looks like

he's in a trance or something.

Vaughn and Allen look back at Willie, who has a dreamy look on

his face.

PRIOR SCENE DIALOGUE:

ELLA (O.S.)

(repeat of her earlier

dialogue)

"Maybe he doesn't want to really eat

her. Maybe he just wants to kiss

her".

DISSOLVE TO:

BEGIN WILLIE'S DAYDREAM:

EXT. DESERT - DAY

Willie and the Roadrunner sit together on the top of a high

skinny rock tower watching a canyon's sunset. A picnic basket

is between them. Willie offers her a birdseed sandwich.

END DAYDREAM

BACK TO SCENE/WILLIE

Willie's expression changes from dreamy to determination as

he "comes to". He pulls a napkin, knife and fork out of his

hide pocket.

65.

Willie puts on the napkin, holds the knife and fork out in

front of him and leans towards the Roadrunner.

VAUGHN

Look out!

Willie RUSHES at the Roadrunner, who takes off in a FLASH and

pursued by Willie with his arms outstretched in a foot chase

down the road. After a short distance, the Roadrunner looks

back at Willie, who is close on her heels. The Roadrunner

pours on the super speed and instantly pulls ahead of Willie

and out of sight.

Willie skids to a halt and collapses on the road in defeat. A

remote control labeled "ROCKET ENGINE" spills from his hide

pocket. A (real) very large albino roadrunner runs up and

stands on the remote control. Willie tries to shoo it away.

The roadrunner pees on the remote control and runs off down

the road. The remote control sparks and smokes.

BACK TO ROCKET TOWER

The tower's warning siren sounds and it's red caution lights

revolve again. The rocket engine inside the tower re-starts.

Ella, Vaughn and Allen run away from the tower.

BACK TO BLOCKHOUSE

A gauge labeled "OVERLOAD" is pegged in the red zone.

BLOCKHOUSE TECHNICIAN (O.S.)

We didn't do it! It's at over 400

percent! I can't shut it down! It's

gonna blow for sure!

BACK TO ROCKET TOWER

The rocket engine breaks loose from its mounts, smashes

through the tower housing and goes airborne. The engine

tumbles in the air as it heads towards Willie.

BACK TO WILLIE

Willie sees the engine, gets up and runs while looking back at

it. It lands on Willie and EXPLODES, leaving Willie lying in

a smoking crater. He is completely blackened and sooty.

ELLA

Poor Willie! Poor Willie!

66.

Ella runs towards Willie. Frank and Eve hurriedly pull up in

a humvee and slide to a halt.

FRANK

Get in you idiots!

Vaughn and Allen run after and grab Ella. They push her into

the humvee and get in. The humvee takes off peeling dirt.

INT. HUMVEE - DAY - TRAVELING

FRANK

What the hell were you doing back

there? I said for you guys to meet us

at the blockhouse!

VAUGHN

What happens now? Are we in trouble?

EVE

For right now you're going back to

your quarters. Take a long lunch and

nap. We can smooth it over with the

Colonel... nobody was hurt. We'll

come by later on and pick you up. We

want to show you something.

Several base fire trucks with their lights and sirens on come

from the opposite direction.

FADE TO:

SUPERIMPOSE: "TERRA"

ADD:

SUPERIMPOSE: "CITY OF THE COYOTES"

EXT. TERRA CITY - ESTABLISHING - DAY

Terra City is a big busy place... coyote members are in a

mall, driving cars, working. A community of condos is there.

BACK TO COL. TOOMB'S OFFICE - DAY

The speaker on Toomb's desk emits the sounds of Terra City.

Toomb writes a note. An unused envelope lies on his desk.

67.

INT. TERRA CITY CONDO - DAY

A family of coyote members go about their business.

INT. CONDO/SHERI'S BEDROOM - DAY

A teenage female (SHERI) is in her bedroom looking at her face

in a mirror. She frets over a zit.

INT. CONDO/KITCHEN - DAY

Sheri's mother and father eat a meal. The father reads a

newspaper.

SHERI'S FATHER

I swear I have no idea of whats going

to happen out there next. It just

looks like they sometimes have nothing

better to do than kill each other. I

am so thankful we don't have to deal

with that here. I feel sorry for

them.

SHERI'S MOTHER

Is that why you keep your eyes glued

to the outside papers and tv news

almost 24/7? You should try spending

some of that time with your daughter.

SHERI'S FATHER

Are you kidding me? She won't even

let herself be seen with me. I am

nothing but an embarrassment to her

while her friends are around. Why do

you think that... young lady, you are

not leaving this house looking like

that!

Sheri walks into the kitchen headed for the outside door. She

is dressed somewhat inappropriately for her age.

SHERI

What's wrong with it? All my friends

are wearing the same thing! You won't

be happy unless I'm dressed like mom

or a nun! I hate both of you!

Sheri stomps back to her room and slams the door.

68.

EXT/INT. TERRA CITY HALL/MAYOR'S OFFICE - DAY

Coyote members walk up the outside stairs to a 1940's-era city

hall building.

Inside the Mayor's office, a group of Terra City coyote member

leaders are in a closed-door conference meeting standing near

several tables. On one table are charts and photographs,

including several aerial photos of Mr. Badde's invasion force

assembled inside the base. A detailed and tall metal model of

a huge beautiful rocketship sits on another table.

TERRA CITY MAYOR

... and so here it is people. The

biggest threat to our people, hell,

our very existence since it began

again. We knew this day was coming.

Gentlemen, what we need is time. And

time is something we have little of.

The enemy is on our very doorstep.

COUNCILMAN #1

And so this is your answer to the

ultimate threat of our time? To

abandon our city and our homes

forever? And for what?

Councilman #1 gestures to the rocketship model.

COUNCILMAN #1

This... this monstrous folly is to be

the only hope for our people's future?

Councilman #2 looks at the rocketship model.

COUNCILMAN #2

This is madness. Constructing a

monster rocketship...which, even if it

did work, is only big enough to carry

only a fraction of our people? To

escape to a planet that the humans

themselves never even colonized? And

who is to go? Who is to stay? Who is

to make these decisions?

MAYOR

This has already been discussed at

length. And what good is our city to

us if all that is left here is death,

flames and tears?

The Mayor walks over to the rocketship model and examines it.

He turns and looks at the others.

69.

MAYOR

Our young, our brightest and the best

of our scientists and engineers will

go to the hidden side of the MOON.

But we shall stay here. They do not

need the old leadership taking up

precious room and resources. They

will discover their own ways and

choose their own leaders in accordance

with our traditions, which go with

them.

COUNCILMAN #2

Mayor, perhaps you are forgetting the

natives here who have saved our people

time and time again? The reason for

their existence is to help us. You

would deny them of their own purpose?

MAYOR

Perhaps you are forgetting that the

secret ones helped us in another age?

What good do you think their arrows

and spears can do against machines and

bullets?

Councilman #2 looks out the window. Outside of the rear of

the building a large but poorly equipped army consisting of

middle-aged and older coyote members prepare for battle.

COUNCILMAN #2

And what of our own forces? Have they

no chance at all?

MAYOR

Our forces? We are not prepared for

war. This was my mistake. We lack

the firepower to repel this invasion.

We can only perhaps delay the enemy.

Our forces's only purpose is to buy us

time at the cost of their own lives.

They all know this.

COUNCILMAN #2

I will remind you sir, the natives

have rekindled their ancient powers.

I've heard that they can even revive

the dead... and rumors of a cave...

MAYOR

Perhaps. But let's assume that the

threat passes us by just for now?

What then? Do you believe that will

be the end of it? Others will come.

70.

MAYOR (cont'd)

They desire the metal under our very

feet. We are in their way!

COUNCILMAN #1

(exasperated)

The rocketship will be destroyed on

the pad! And with it our youth and

any hope of their future! We must

abandon this fool's errand and run

together from this place now. There

is another way!

MAYOR

And go where? Where? A secret cave?

The jungles in Africa? How long do

you think it will be before others

seek to find and destroy us? No, my

old friend, we must make our stand

here and now. We can run no further.

While the leaders bicker, a Mayor's aid comes into the room

and says something into the Mayor's ear. The Mayor walks over

to his desk, unlocks a drawer and pulls out a lighted red

phone. The Mayor picks it up and has a short and whispered

conversation. He hangs up and closes the drawer.

MAYOR

We will need every last minute of time

and every bit of help just to give the

rocketship even a chance to take off.

Our young and our greatest minds must

escape from this place and we must

give them that opportunity. What

happens to the rest of us after that

will no longer be in our hands.

COUNCILMAN #1

(quietly)

What of the Coyote then?

MAYOR

Willie will go on as he has always

has. He is our foundation.

COUNCILMAN #1

Then why does he not have a place in

the rocketship?! Are we now to just

abandon him? Do you wish to see him

in a cage in some zoo where the

outside humans can gawk at him, their

children laughing and pointing? Or

for him to be imprisoned in a

laboratory where experiments are

conducted? What do you think that

will do to him?

71.

COUNCILMAN #2

Willie's path has always been his own.

He has already been asked to come. He

will not. He says his fate remains in

the desert. But we are out of time.

The enemy is already on the march. We

must leave now or all will die!

The leaders argue among themselves on what to do.

MAYOR

Perhaps not.

The leaders stop their bickering and stare at the Mayor.

MAYOR

I have just spoken with the Toomb. He

will not let us down. I have his

word.

The leaders are greatly relieved upon hearing this. They

shake hands with the Mayor and each other in congratulations.

INT. "NASA" MISSION CONTROL CENTER (HOUSTON) - DAY

On this day NASA is commemorating the Apollo missions. As

such, the mission control technicians are dressed in the

1960's looks of that period. The technicians wear

white short-sleeved pocket shirts, skinny black ties. Mission

Control Supervisor T. PIERCE's phone RINGS. Pierce answers

it.

T. PIERCE

Mission Control, Pierce here -- Well

well, if it's not the infamous Colonel

Toomb himself! How long has it been?

-Yes, way too long -- Yes, I remember

very well when we served together... I

left, you stayed. Now why would a

living legend such as yourself call me

up? -- Sure I got time... what's up?

EXT. "NASA" CONTROL CENTER - DAY (LATER)

A convoy of NASA vans, trucks and trailers are lined up,

including a fuel tanker at the rear. Equipment and

technicians are hurriedly being loaded onto the vehicles. T.

Pierce and his supervisors direct the loading operation with a

great sense of urgency.

72.

INT. INDIAN TRIBAL MEETING TENT - DAY

A spirited council meeting is in progress. The CHIEF is

present, along with a frightening-looking MEDICINE MAN. Two

warriors in their thirties (BIG BOY and LOCO) look on and talk

among themselves. Big Boy is agitated. An attractive female

warrior sits next to Loco.

BIG BOY

I've stuck it out. I've done my share

and then some. All I'm saying Loco is

that while we sleep on dirt, other

tribes have at least beds. Even the

worst off of the others have at least

an old mobile home to live in. You

know... running water, electrics,

maybe even a television? Why must we

scratch our living off of rocks?

LOCO

Because we do not seek treasures or

comfort. We exist only to look after

the Kawosa human coyotes. This is our

sacred calling. And what would your

grandfather... the greatest warrior of

his time... say if he heard your words

now? He did not seem to need your

televison back then Big Boy.

BIG BOY

Bah! I say we are individuals

responsible for our own destiny....

not glom onto some ancient notion

of "oh yah, we're here only to protect

the Kawosa throughout the ages". Give

me a break. We're all about to get

our asses kicked! Why should we die

alongside them? And leave my

grandfather out of this Loco. He is

dead and gone forever!

LOCO

They will hear you! Do you want...

wait! BLOODY SPEAR is about to speak,

so shut up! I want to hear this.

BIG BOY

Ok, but I swear that if I hear him

talking like you I'm walking out!

LOCO

Then walk out! Shut up I said!

73.

BIG BOY

Screw you Tonto! Go sell cigars and

blankets by the side of the road,

you "how" mother.

Big Boy leaves the tent. BLOODY SPEAR stands up.

BLOODY SPEAR

We must face what our scouts have

already seen. Our enemy are many in

numbers and powerful. Their leader is

full of hate and will not stop until

all are dead, whether we fight or not.

EXT. ROOFTOP OF MR. BADDE'S BUILDING - DAY

Mr. Badde gets into his helicopter and lifts off.

BACK TO SCENE/BLOODY SPEAR:

BLOODY SPEAR

His army goes to the great city of the

Kawosa. They will kill everyone

there. Their numbers are many. We

cannot defeat their machines with mere

clubs and arrows.

(beat)

I mean... it's not like the good old

days when things were a little more

fair!

Bloody Spear's last remark amuses many in the gathering,

causing a small commotion. The younger warriors give off

a "yip yip" cry and poke spears at each other.

BLOODY SPEAR

The Kawosa are leaving this world to

the cold moon. But not all are going.

What then will be our promise to those

left behind? Once again, everybody

will be wiped out. And we would die

without purpose or honor.

Bloody Spear pauses. The noise in the tent dies down.

BLOODY SPEAR

We must take them to the Hidden Caves.

It has been done before. There must

be a future for those that remain.

74.

LOCO

I have heard enough! Enough about

defeat! Enough about hiding in caves

like women!

The girl sitting next to Loco gives him a dirty look.

LOCO

Have we forgot why we are here? Are

we to shame the spilled blood of our

ancestors by running and hiding? Is

this then our fate... to dishonor our

fathers and their fathers before them?

What of our heritage? Where will we

hide next? We must fight!

BLOODY SPEAR

And do you wish for the sacred ones to

simply be killed again and vanish

forever? Must everybody die for

nothing? And for who? You?

LOCO

Your words are those of a coward!

BLOODY SPEAR

Then I will show you a coward now!

Both men are about to fight each other amidst a great deal of

shouting and gesturing in the tent. The CHIEF raises his hand

for order. The noise dies down.

CHIEF

We will hear Medicine Man.

The MEDICINE MAN rises. Every eye in the tent is upon him.

MEDICINE MAN

There is more in the hidden caves than

a refuge. A great power lies waiting

there. I and my father's fathers have

seen it in many visions. The ancients

had foreseen these days and prepared

for it. We must go to the caves. But

we must fight too. If we cannot now

honor the blood and sacrifice of our

ancestors then all is lost anyways.

The natives look at the Medicine Man and each other with

concern. The Chief rises.

CHIEF

I have heard Bloody Spear and Loco and

Medicine man speak. There is much

iron in their words.

75.

CHIEF (cont'd)

It is true that the Kawosa will escape

to the great moon. It is also true

not all can go.

This we cannot change. A vision can

be a dangerous thing. But I have seen

it myself and more myself in a dream.

Our last Chief... my father... has had

this same dream. He has spoken of

this to my face many times.

This visibly moves the gathering as they nod approvingly to

each other. The Chief picks up a pipe, loads it and lights it

up while the others look on.

CHIEF

They need time to finish their machine

of silver metal that will carry them

into the dark sky. We will give them

that time. We will fight. Many brave

warriors will die. Our purpose is not

to live but to fall in battle for

those we look after. Yet some may

still live if the spirits allow.

(beat)

Only the old ways will work now.

This greatly impresses the gathering and a murmuring goes

though the tent as they talk. The Chief takes a puff off his

pipe and sets it down. The sound dies down.

CHIEF

The ancient caves have not been

entered since the beginning of our

time. They shall be reopened. Our

women and our young shall go there.

And we will lead there also the Kawosa

who have stayed behind. And any of us

who live after the battle, we will go

there as well. But we will see the

light of the Taawa sun again. These

are my words.

The Chief rises and leaves the tent.

INT. WILLIE'S CAVE - DAY

Willie draws a blueprint. He finishes and holds it up and

looks at it with great satisfaction and delight. Willie puts

the blueprint down on a table and leaves the cave.

Of the blueprint. It shows a huge tin coyote robot.

Sounds of air tools being used, a wrench drops, CLANGING and

BANGING are heard. (o.s.)

INT. COL. TOOMB'S AIRPLANE HANGER - DAY

Ella, Vaughn, Allen, Frank and Eve enter a dilapidated and dim

airplane hanger. Frank flips a wall box lever to turn on some

of the lights in the large hanger, revealing cargo containers

and a dusty vintage jet partially covered with tarps. Ella is

delighted as she walks up to to the jet and looks it over.

ELLA

Oh... it's a F-4G Phantom!

EVE

(amused)

You know these planes?

ELLA

Of course. My real dad flew one just

like it right before he died. I fly

this exact same model in my favorite

video game... it's called "Weasels

Away". For what it's worth, I have

the record top score. I'm so jealous

that you guys get to fly the real

ones.

The jet has "HONCHO" and "MAJOR TOOMB" painted below the

cockpit. A cartoon figure of Willie Coyote is painted on the

jet's tail. Alongside the jet sits a bare cot, a footlocker,

a simple table and chair. On the table is a bible, a water

glass and pitcher and an old flight squadron scrapbook. Ella

walks over and looks at the cot.

ELLA

Does somebody stay in this godawful

lonely place? It's so dismal in here.

Reminds me of a tomb.

Frank points out Toomb's name on the jet to the trio.

FRANK

Speaking of which. Nobody ever comes

down here except for him of course and

a few trusted mechanics.

77.

FLASH:

INT. COL. TOOMB'S AIRPLANE HANGER - NIGHT

Col. Toomb sits on the cot looking out at nothing in

particular. It is dark inside the spooky hanger except for a

dim overhead bare lightbulb.

FRANK (O.S.)

When the Colonel is off-duty this is

where he lives. He just sits all

night right there on that cot. From

what I hear he never sleeps.

BACK TO SCENE

EVE

We've all tried to get him to stay

with us in our own homes but he won't

have any of it... he thinks he would

be imposing. Hell, he won't even live

in his own place... where do you think

you guys have been staying?

FLASH:

EXT. COL. TOOMB'S RESIDENCE - DAY

A small sign out front of the house they had been staying in

reads "COMMANDER'S QUARTERS" and "Col. Toomb".

FLASH:

EXT. DESERT - DAY (DUSK)

Willie perches on top of a high cliff with a parachute on his

back. He looks through binoculars at a road far below him.

BACK TO TOOMB'S AIRPLANE HANGER:

FRANK

Most here call this place "the crypt".

But Toomb calls it home.

ELLA

He actually lives here? No family at

all?

78.

EVE

No family that we know of, although

there is a rumour that he once did.

Toomb flew a lot of sorties in Vietnam

in the mid sixties. On one mission in

the middle of the night the then-Major

Toomb dropped a bomb on a U.S. patrol

boat. It wasn't his fault.

FRANK

Nothing has been the same for him

since. Toomb's life basically ended

on that one terrible night. If he did

have a family it ended with him then.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH:

Of the picture of the patrol cutter (boat) in Toomb's office.

The picture frame's brass nameplate says "USCG POINT WELCOME".

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. USCG POINT WELCOME (VIETNAM) - NIGHT

"USCG POINT WELCOME" is painted on the cutter's hull. The

cutter BURNS in the water. Smoke and fire cover the decks.

The scene is chaotic. Several dead and injured crew members

lie on the decks. The crew members cuss and shout and help

the injured. A crew member YELLS into the radio.

CREW MEMBER

This is Coast Guard Cutter Point

Welcome! Cease fire! You're killing

us! Cease fire!

A Willie Coyote cartoon figure is painted on the cutter's

side. Shrapnel holes are punched in it.

79.

FRANK (O.S.)

A C-130 observation plane had

mistakenly identified the cutter Point

Welcome as an enemy vessel and called

in a B-57 to attack it. After the B-

57 made it's run, the C-130 requested

Toomb in his F-4 to attack the vessel.

SERIES OF SHOTS - TOOMB'S ATTACK

1) A C-130 flies high in the night sky. The radar operator

inside speaks into a headset. Toomb's F-4 flies nearby.

2) Toomb takes the call in his helmet headset.

3) Toomb flies down to the cutter, flashes his navigational

lights and swings back around.

4) A cutter crew member rapidly flips up and down a switch

labeled "EXTERIOR LIGHTS". Nearby shot-out electrical wires

sizzle and smoke. The lights do not come on.

EVE (O.S.)

Toomb had doubts about the target,

flew down to it and flashed his

navigation lights. He wanted to see

if the alleged enemy vessel would also

flash his lights to indicate it was a

friendly boat. When no such

indication came, Toomb made a cluster

bomb run on the cutter and hit it

hard. Real hard. People died.

Col. Toomb makes a horrific cluster bomb drop on the cutter.

FRANK

Right after his run, Toomb got the

word that the cutter he bombed was a

friendly. He was beyond devastated.

EXT. U.S. REPAIR BOATYARD (VIETNAM) - DAY

Toomb looks at blood and bandages on the decks of the cutter.

He looks at the damaged cartoon Willie Coyote mascot figure

painted on it's hull and runs his hand over the holes.

FRANK (O.S.)

He hasn't flown since. He later came

back here and took over the base from

his ailing father.

FRANK (O.S.) (cont'd)

Toomb's ground crew made sure his jet

and themselves made it here too.

FLASH:

Toomb's F-4 being towed into the desert base hanger.

BACK TO PRESENT/HANGER

EVE

Everyone here... us, the coyote

members, Willie, the Roadrunner and

the Indians became his whole family...

his entire world. And he likes you

guys too... especially you Ella.

A silence ensues as Ella, Vaughn and Allen absorb the story

that Frank and Eve had just told them. Ella touches the F-4

and a tear starts in her eye.

FRANK

He has refused every medal and

promotion unless he received a direct

order to accept one. Hell, he'd be a

four star general by now if he had not

insisted on staying on here.

EVE

It doesn't really matter now anyways.

He's leaving. And we've got to get

you out of this place right now. We

might not get the chance later.

Let's...

A far-off but massive "BOOM" is heard. Everyone looks at each

other in alarm.

EVE

Oh my God. It's begun.

FRANK

We have to leave. We'll be back as

soon as we can. You guys stay right

here!

Ella, Allen and Vaughn nod ok. Ella sits on the cot. Frank

and Eve leave in their humvee.

81.

EXT. DESERT - DAY (DUSK)

Sheri walks with her friend LISA along the outer borders of

Terra City. Sheri carries binoculars.

SHERI

They still think I'm a baby! Don't go

here, don't go there, don't leave the

city, everything is just don't.

LISA

They just want you to be safe... don't

you remember that time when you ran

away and almost got hit by that car?

FLASH:

Sheri is ten years old. She wears a backpack and starts to

cross a desert road on a moonlit night.

PRIOR SCENE FLASHBACK:

Mr. Badde's parent's car without it's headlights careens down

the road. Sheri is in the road. The car swerves and crashes

into the telephone pole. Sheri screams and runs back towards

Terra City.

BACK TO PRESENT/SHERI

SHERI

I know but...

Sheri and Lisa hear a big "BOOM" off in the distance and look

in that direction.

LISA

Wow! What was that?

SHERI

Probably Willie again. We can watch

it on the Willie channel when we get

home. Goody!

Sheri looks through her binoculars in the direction of

the "boom" and sees a large smoke plume rising.

LISA

No, I don't think so... I saw the show

earlier and Willie was super busy

making a big robot. If he... Oh!

82.

A rapidly-expanding spot of blood appears on Lisa's white

blouse. The CRACK of a hi-powered rifle report is heard a

second later and Lisa falls to the ground, dead. Unaware that

Lisa had just been shot, Sheri looks though her binoculars in

the direction of the rifle report and sees an enemy sniper

about to fire a scoped rifle at her. A bullet ricochets off

of a boulder next to Sheri's head. Sheri drops the binoculars

and falls down in shock. She looks over and sees that Lisa is

dead. Sheri gets up and takes off running towards Terra City.

The sniper reloads and prepares to take another shot at Sheri

as she runs. A security coyote member jumps down from some

boulders onto the sniper and plunges a knife through his neck.

He quickly examines Lisa and pulls out a walkie-talkie radio.

COYOTE MEMBER

(into radio)

Sniper scout eliminated in outer east

sector. Evacuate the city.

(beat)

They are here.

EXT. TERRA CITY - DAY (DUSK)

The city's emergency street sirens sound off. The coyote

members quickly empty the streets in an orderly manner.

EXT. DESERT ROAD - (DUSK)

Mr. Badde's helicopter lands on a desert road near the ornate

granite memorial marker engraved with "MR. & MRS. BADDE". Mr.

Badde gets out of the helicopter and walks over to the marker.

A luxury motor coach is parked in a nearby turnout.

MR. BADDE'S MEMORY FLASH:

Mr. Badde in his office looking at the film of his parent's

burning car. His parents scream (o.s.)

BACK TO PRESENT/MR. BADDE

A distressed look comes over Mr. Badde's face and he collapses

down onto the marker in grief and hate. He pulls out a

satellite phone and pushes a button on it.

83.

MR. BADDE

(into phone)

Kill every last one of them! I am not

moving from this spot until you do.

Try not to screw this one up, you

incompetent fool.

Mr. Badde kicks a cactus over and goes over to the motor

coach. A hi-end call girl stands in the doorway. Mr. Badde

pushes her inside, goes in and closes the door.

BACK TO TOOMB'S OFFICE

Col. Toomb picks up his desk phone and pushes a button.

COL. TOOMB

(into phone)

Find out what that noise was and call

me back. I'm on my way to meet an old

service buddy...

The sirens from Terra City are heard from his desk speaker.

Toomb hangs up the phone and slowly stands up from his desk as

he stares at the speaker. He takes a photo of an infant girl

from his desk. Toomb looks at the photo and puts it inside

his uniform. He walks over to a wall portrait of the base and

takes it down, revealing a wall safe.

Toomb opens the safe and retrieves an official-looking

envelope. The outside of the envelope has "COMMANDER'S EYES

ONLY" and "MOST SECRET" printed in red. He opens the envelope

and reads the orders inside. His face fills with disbelief.

He drops the orders to the floor.

COLONEL TOOMB

My God.

Toomb retrieves a .45 model 1911 pistol and another envelope

from the safe. He tucks the pistol into his uniform. He puts

the envelope on his desk.

EXT. INDIAN VILLAGE - DAY (DUSK)

The distant Terra City sirens are heard. The Chief closes his

eyes. Big Boy and Loco approach him. The Chief opens his

eyes and looks at them.

CHIEF

Come with me now.

84.

BACK TO COL. TOOMB'S OFFICE

Toomb walks out of his office, leaving the door open.

CLOSE ON - ORDERS ON FLOOR

It reads: "HOSTILE REMOVAL OF INDIGENOUS POPULATIONS

REGRETFUL. HOWEVER, YOU AND YOUR STAFF ARE DIRECTED NOT TO

INTERFERE AGAINST AUTHORIZED OUTSIDE CIVILIAN MOVEMENTS TO

THIS END"...

CLOSE ON - ENVELOPE ON DESK

The outside of the envelope reads: "WILL OF COL. TOOMB".

FADE TO:

EXT. BASE ROAD - DAY

A convoy of NASA buses, trailers, vans and a rocket fuel

tanker are on the base headed for the rocketship's launch pad.

The trailing tanker has "DANGER - ROCKET FUEL - STAY BACK 1000

FEET" labeled on it. Landmines are hidden underneath the dirt

road. The vehicles narrowly miss the landmines.

The tanker runs over a landmine with a massive "BOOM" as it

EXPLODES. The tanker is vaporized. A huge mushroom smoke

cloud rises into the sky. Burning debris from the tanker

shoot out and fall onto the convoy vehicles.

INT. T. PIERCE'S VAN - DAY

Several of the van's windows are blown out from the blast's

flying debris.

SCIENTIST #1

What the hell is going on?!

T. Pierce looks back and sees that the tanker is gone.

T. PIERCE

(yelling into radio)

Everybody just keep going dammit!

Don't stop for anything! Go Go Go!

85.

EXT. DESERT ROAD - DUSK

The Roadrunner stands on the road, completely focused on

watching the smoke plume rising from the distant burning

tanker. She is puzzled and distracted about what she sees and

turns her head sideways.

EXT. TOP OF CLIFF - DUSK

Willie wears a parachute and sees the Roadrunner on the road

far below him. A coyote member hides behind a boulder films

Willie. Willie jumps and pulls the cord to deploy the

parachute. The parachute becomes unattached to the harness

and floats away. Willie falls and crashes hard right on top

of the pre-occupied Roadrunner, knocking her out.

BACK TO TERRA CITY MAYOR'S OFFICE - DUSK

It is very busy in the Mayor's office... phones ring, the

staff runs around burning and shredding documents. The Mayor

empties a drawer and turns to address those present.

MAYOR

You all know what to do and where to

go. Make sure your kids and your

neighbor's kids get on their

designated trams to the launch site.

There is no time for long goodbyes.

After that report to your defensive

stations. God be with all of you.

The office is evacuated with the Mayor being the last to

leave. As he exits his desk phone rings. The Mayor

hesitates, walks back and picks up the phone.

MAYOR

Yes? -- Make it quick Ron -- What? --

Willie did what? -- He caught who?

Impossible! -- You saw it yourself on

the live Willie feed? Ok... cut the

feed and get your people out of there.

The Mayor hangs up the phone. His face is ashen.

MAYOR

Not now, for crying out loud not now.

Councilman #2 had been listening just outside the office door.

He comes into the office and somberly approaches the Mayor.

86.

COUNCILMAN #2

Don't even think about it. We are out

of time as it is. We won't make it

unless we leave right now.

MAYOR

Since the beginning of our time, our

people have had the Ceremony of the

Monument Gorge. Our entire society is

based upon this tradition.

FORWARD SCENE FLASH:

Of the Coyote Ceremonial Monument Gorge.

BACK TO SCENE/MAYOR

MAYOR

We are nothing if we will not fulfill

the obligation and honor that those in

the past have passed on to us.

Willie has finally caught the

Roadrunner. The evacuation will go on

as planned but we will have the

ceremony as our people long before us

have. And Tom?

COUNCILMAN #2

Yes?

MAYOR

We're not going anyplace. Neither are

most of the adults. That rocketship

is for our youth... our future. You

know that. Now let's get on with it.

Councilman #2 nods, smiles and leaves the office.

EXT. ROCKETSHIP LAUNCH PAD - NIGHT

The NASA convoy reaches the launch pad. The technicians get

out of their vehicles. They are awed by the rocket's immense

size as it emerges from it's underground silo. The sleek

rocket is 1,000 feet tall and has a needle-like body with a

shiny stainless steel appearance.

87.

T. PIERCE

Get a look at that thing! What kind

of... Holy crap!

A large flaming artillery rocket round shoots high directly

over the rocket pad. Pierce looks at his top NASA supervisor.

T. PIERCE

Let's get on with it then. Find out

what they need and I mean right now.

The NASA technicians are still dressed in their 1960's look.

They are astonished upon seeing the coyote member technicians.

Signs identifying specific launch tasks are above the member's

stations. Faint sporadic gunfire and artillery explosions are

heard. The NASA technicians meet and shake hands with their

coyote member technician station counterparts. They put their

hands on the seated coyote technician's backs, look over at

their monitors, sit down alongside their smiling coyote

technician counterparts.

A NASA supervisor consults with Pierce.

T. PIERCE

So how are they set? How are they

doing on fuel?

NASA SUPERVISOR

They should have enough if nothing

goes wrong. But they do have issues

with key propulsion and environmental

systems. What do you want us to do?

T. PIERCE

Unload everything we got. Let's get

these people into space.

EXT. CEREMONIAL MONUMENT GORGE - NIGHT

The long and narrow flat-floored dirt gorge has cliffs on both

sides. Burning firepits are spread out along the bottom,

sides and top throughout it's length. A ceremonially adorned

Willie is at one end of the gorge holding the injured and

likewise adorned Roadrunner.

The native tribe's elders are gathered at a firepit. Dozens

of the tribe's members chant and dance in a circle around the

firepit. A dozen hot Bollywood dancers wearing sheer chiffon

skirts dance in unison. Their bare legs are silhouetted by a

large fire behind them. East Indian musicians play

transcendental music on instruments.

88.

The Medicine Man holds a curious white staff made of wrapped

bones. He casts powders into the fire, causing the flames to

rise and change color. He chants himself into a catatonic

state and his eyes turn to a bright white glow. The sky turns

to crimson red as white ghostly smoke swirls upwards.

The gorge's ground transforms magically from dirt to polished

granite from one end to another. Six 100 foot high carved

marble coyote monuments appear on each side of the gorge

during the transformation. The monuments are somewhat similar

in appearance to Willie. They each hold or drag a Roadrunner.

At the base of each coyote monument are engraved letters in

both English and Latin naming the ancient Coyote. The date of

their Roadrunner's capture is engraved underneath in roman

numerals. At the end of the rows of monuments is an undated

monument which closely resembles Willie. Engraved on its

base is "WILLIE COYOTE" and "PLURIMUS CERTUS".

Watching the ceremony from the gorge's upper rim are Indians

and adult coyote members. Willie walks along the gorge floor,

passing the monuments one at a time. At the end of the gorge

is a stone sacrifice altar. Willie places the Roadrunner on

the altar. An ornate axe leans against the altar. Willie

grabs it, hesitates and turns around to face the gathering.

WILLIE

This creature has done no harm to me,

yet I have dedicated my life to end

it's. This stops now... I will do no

further harm to the Roadrunner.

MAYOR

But you must complete the ceremony.

It is our legacy and tradition. It

represents the history of our entire

civilization through the ages.

WILLIE

Yours! Not mine! And I am telling

you now that I am done with this. I

will do no more to hurt this innocent

bird. I have done enough of that.

Will throws the axe upon the altar and rips the ceremonial

garb off of himself and the Roadrunner.

WILLIE

Your paths and mine have always been

apart. I have seen your big

rocketship. You are going into space.

I too will leave these lands although

I know not where to. But I will think

about what I have done this day and

with my life.

89.

WILLIE (cont'd)

I must now go on my own road.

MAYOR

(resignedly)

Then go in peace, Willie Coyote.

Never forget you have only done what

you were destined to do. Perhaps it

is fate that we all stand at this

crossroads in our time. But I would

ask of you just one thing... will you

return to us some day? Will you do

this?

WILLIE

If I am able to, I shall return. I

cannot say when. I will not forget my

people, nor those who have been my

friends during all these long years.

The Medicine Man throws his white staff into the fire. A

portal opens. The Medicine man jumps into the fire and

vanishes in a FLASH of light.

EXT. TERRA CITY - NIGHT

Mr. Badde's invasion force has fought their way through the

security coyote members to Terra City. The city is deserted.

L.J. is on his satellite phone to an enraged Mr. Badde.

MR. BADDE (O.S.)

I told you not to let any of them get

away! Your priority now is that

rocket. Destroy it and all of them or

it's your ass. Do you hear me? Your

ass, you moron!

L.J. is taken back from the insult and looks up to the

cloudless sky and full moon.

INT. MINE TUNNEL - NIGHT

The Chief, the Medicine Man and Loco walk through the same

tunnel where the delivery vans had earlier fallen down into.

Loco pats out a small fire on the unconcerned Medicine Man

clothes. Big Boy catches up while pulling up his pants,

surprised to see the Medicine Man. They hold torches.

CHIEF

Not since the beginning of our time

have the sacred caves been entered.

90.

CHIEF (cont'd)

It was meant as a refuge long ago for

the Kawosa and our people when the

evil ones wished to do us harm. But

there is something else inside... a

great and terrible power.

LOCO

What? Refuge? We come here to hide?

What is this?

CHIEF

I have already spoken of this matter.

We are warriors. The war is here. We

will fight and many will die. The

Kawosa people need us now. This

cannot wait any longer. It is time.

They climb over and around broken timbers and the blown-up

delivery trucks. They come to a large rock leaning against

the tunnel's wall. They pause and look at the rock. The

Chief gestures to a odd-looking pole lying next to the rock

and then over to Big Boy.

BIG BOY

Oh I get it! The big rock hides the

entrance to the secret caves... a

powerful temple of great Indian magic

where the ancients can be summoned or

something like that, right? Ok, I'll

buy this Indian lore hogwash for now.

Big Boy grabs the pole and attempts to pry the rock away from

the wall, grunting and groaning, cussing under his breath. He

is unable to budge it.

BIG BOY

This is impossible! The rock will not

move!

CHIEF

There is nothing we want with the

rock. A wise warrior should wait and

listen before important matters are

decided. Bring the pole.

LOCO

Bring the pole Indy.

Loco snickers at Big Boy, who picks up and carries the pole as

they continue to walk.

91.

INT. CAVE OPENING- NIGHT

They come to the end of the mine tunnel to a small opening.

Big Boy swings his torch around and examines their

surroundings. A crude table is there.

BIG BOY

This is it? There's nothing here but

an old broken table! This... this is

the fabled powerhouse lair and refuge

of the ancients? Typical mumbo-jumbo

bullshit, just as I always said!

LOCO

You have faith in nothing! Wait!

The Medicine Man places some bones and other charms on the

table and quietly chants. His eyes light up. A mild rumbling

is heard and the earth shakes slightly. The rumbling and

shaking quickly subside.

FLASH:

Storm clouds quickly appear and rapidly spread over the

previously-clear sky.

BACK TO MEDICINE MAN'S MINE CAVE

BIG BOY

That's it?! Only a tiny earthquake?

Where are the ancient powers summoned

to save all? And where is this great

cave? Nothing but superstition and

words! Bah! I am done with this

Indian fairytale!

Big boy turns and walks towards the surface. Unseen by him,

the darkness behind him turns to a silvery glow.

EXT. MINE EXIT - NIGHT

Big Boy reaches the outside and looks around. The sounds of

combat are heard. The skies are covered with storm clouds.

BIG BOY

Nothing! Nothing!

A massive lightning storm begins. Rapid bolts of lightning

light up the area.

92.

During the powerful flashes, a vast number of grey Indian

ancestor ghost warriors mounted on horses appear on the ledges

all around. The ghost warriors wear war gear and face paint.

When the flashes subside, the ghost warriors disappear. When

the lightning strikes again the ghost warriors appear again.

Big Boy's expression is now one of wonder.

The Chief, Medicine Man and Loco exit the cave and see the

legions of ghost warriors during the lightning flashes. Loco

and Big Boy embrace as they look up at the warriors. Big Boy

recognizes one particularly fierce-looking warrior and yells

up towards him.

BIG BOY

It's my grandfather! Grandfather!

Big Boy's grandfather raises a war staff at Big Boy in salute.

A large group of excited live warriors arrive on horses. They

are amazed at the sight of the ghost warriors and join among

them. The Chief, Medicine Man, Loco and Big Boy are given

horses. They get on them and the Chief yells:

CHIEF

Alala! Alala! Alala!

This catches on with everyone until the cry is one loud

continuous din. They ride off towards a large group of

approaching enemy members. Big Boy catches up to his

grandfather, who hands Big Boy an axe as they approach the

enemy members, who become alarmed as the ghost and live

warriors come at them. An enemy member raises his rifle to

shoot at an approaching ghost warrior during a lightning

flash, then blinks in astonishment when the ghost warrior

disappears as the flash subsides. The member whirls around in

panic. On the next flash, the ghost warrior re-appears right

next to the member and strikes him down with a club. The

enemy members flee and fire backwards in terror as the

multitude of live and ghost warriors overrun them.

Some enemy members hold their ground and shoot at the oncoming

ghost warriors. The bullets just pass through them. A few

live warriors are shot dead as they ride. They keel over on

their horses for a moment, then turn grey and into ghost

warriors themselves.

An enemy member fires his rifle at Big Boy, who is killed

instantly. He starts to fall off his horse. His Grandfather

reaches over and steadies Big Boy, who turns gray and into a

ghost warrior himself. They furiously ride with the others

towards the enemy.

INT/EXT. WILLIE'S CAVE - NIGHT

The injured Roadrunner lies on a cot in Willie's cave. In the

b.g. sits the opened crate labeled "R.P.V.

93.

-M" and a very long radical motorcycle that has a rocket motor

in it. It has machine guns front and rear and a missile tube.

Willie starts a small ACME rocket car that has several cannon

barrels sticking out of it. Willie puts the Roadrunner into

the rocket car. It is now raining along with the lightning.

Willie gets in the car and looks at the barely-conscience

Roadrunner.

WILLIE

I am taking you to a doctor. For once

in my life, I am going to do something

to help you. You've got to hang on.

Willie and the Roadrunner take off in the rocket car and soon

come under heavy fire from a gauntlet of enemy members.

Willie fires the car's cannons to blast a path through. The

car is hit from a rpg and both Willie and the Roadrunner are

blown out of it. A telescope flies out of the car. The

Roadrunner lands and lies still in a muddy ditch by the road.

Willie recovers quickly but the Roadrunner is in really bad

shape. Willie anxiously looks her over. He picks up the

telescope and looks off in the distance and sees that the

security coyote members are really taking a murderous beating

from the enemy members. Willie sees that Terra City has been

set on fire. He sees that the enemy members are shooting

every coyote member they can, including surrendering women and

children.

WILLIE

Enough.

Willie retrieves a control box from the wrecked rocket car and

switches it to "ON". There is a loud BANG and much dirt

expelled as an enormous 400 foot high tin coyote robot

EXPLODES out of the side of a nearby cliff wall where the

robot had been blended in invisibly in the wall. Enemy and

coyote members alike temporarily ignore each other, amazed to

see the huge robot. An enemy member looks up at it.

ENEMY MEMBER

What... the... fuck is that?!

Willie turns the control box's target switch from "Roadrunner"

to "Bad Guys". The tin coyote robot lifts a leg up to walk

off. Willie looks up with apprehension as the robot's first

step comes down on top of him. The robot continues on it's

way and stomps on the enemy members and their equipment.

A flattened Willie quickly recovers, grabs a discarded heavy

machine gun and uses the control box to have the robot pick

him up. Willie fires upon and cuts down many of the enemy as

he stands on the robot's hand. The robot advances towards

terrified and fleeing enemy members. A coyote member holding

a field radio gets an exuberant call.

94.

The volume is loud enough for the nearby fighting coyote

members to hear it:

RADIO CALL

(caller is elated)

"A big bunch of scary ass looking wild

Indians on horses just cleaned house

over the entire south sector here.

All they wanted to know was where to

go next. Get ready for some company."

The coyote members are greatly encouraged upon hearing this

and by Willie's leadership on his big robot. They use the

robot for cover as they advance towards enemy members, who

fall back in confusion and panic. Willie's smoking machine

gun runs out of ammo. An alarmed look comes over his face.

WILLIE'S MEMORY FLASH:

Of the badly injured Roadrunner he left in the muddy ditch.

BACK TO SCENE/WILLIE

Willie jumps to the ground and drops the robot's controller.

He hurries back towards the Roadrunner as a massive horde of

live and ghost warriors arrive on horseback. The warriors

overrun and kill many enemy members.

INT. BASE/PILOT'S BRIEFING ROOM - NIGHT

Pilots and rugged enlisted base members crowd the small room.

MAJOR ROUG

We have the colonel's orders.

Pilots... we fly at dawn! Sorry. I

just always wanted to say that.

Chuckling base members quickly leave the briefing room.

EXT. BASE - NIGHT

The base's defenses including it's aircraft and artillery are

now into the fight and take out enemy positions. The enemy's

retreat in this area turns into a rout with some surrendering.

95.

BACK TO WILLIE/ROADRUNNER

A heavy rain falls. Willie returns to the Roadrunner, who is

barely conscious. Willie kneels down to the Roadrunner, who

opens her eyes and looks at Willie with great sadness.

WILLIE

I am sorry for everything I have done

to you. I want you to know that I

realize now that you are... and always

have been... my friend. You are too

hurt to move. I must go for help.

But I will not leave these lands

without you. I will be back for you.

In the pouring rain, Willie rises and walks back to the rocket

motorcycle. He turns around and holds up his hand towards the

Roadrunner to say goodbye. Seeing this, the Roadrunner

struggles with great effort to lift a wing up as best as she

can to say goodbye back. Willie gets on his motorcycle and

rides off and out of sight. The Roadrunner collapses back

into the muddy ditch and lies still.

The Roadrunner's steady heartbeat is heard.

Willie blasts his way out of the area with the bike's forwardfiring

machine gun against enemy members. Once he is in the

clear, a smile comes across his face as he shakes his head.

WILLIE'S MEMORY FLASHES:

Of several cartoon scenes showing Willie running after the

Roadrunner, falling down cliffs, being blown up and flattened.

BACK TO WILLIE

The Roadrunner's slowing heartbeat is heard.

Willie's facial expression changes to fear. He brakes the

bike and turns around.

INT. ROCKETSHIP/SICKBAY - NIGHT

Sheri is in a hysterical state as she stands off across from a

compassionate doctor and nurse.

SHERI

I'm not leaving! I'm not going

without my parents!

96.

Sheri attempts to call her parents on her cell phone. It does

not work. She lunges to a porthole in the compartment, looks

through it and sees her sad parents far below. They look up

at the rocketship as Sheri frantically waves in an attempt to

get their attention. They do not see her.

SHERI

Mommy! I'm right here! Daddy don't

let them take me!

NURSE

(sympathetic)

But Sheri sweetheart, you... you hate

your parents, remember?

SHERI

No I don't! I only said that because

I was mad! Get away from me!

The doctor takes out a hypodermic needle out of a box

labeled "SEDATIVE" and injects Sheri with it.

DOCTOR

(angry)

Just one man can cause such misery?

EXT. ROCKETSHIP LAUNCH PAD - NIGHT

Through the rocketship's pre-flight smoke and vapor a pair of

white-gloved three-fingered hands beat on a snare drum. The

older, left-behind coyote members perform in a symphony

orchestra and robed choir as a farewell tribute to their soondeparting

children in the rocketship. They are close to the

rocketship. All other sounds are muted.

The coyote and human flight station technicians are calm and

deliberate at their stations despite enemy mortar rounds

falling around them. A mortar round land on and EXPLODES upon

NASA flight director T. Pierce's station.

BACK TO WILLIE

The Roadrunner's ever-slowing heartbeat is heard.

The rocket motor on Willie's bike IGNITES. Willie ROARS

through the abandoned town of Hamblem at great speed. He

heads for the curve/guardrail, which has a gap in it.

97.

BACK TO ROCKETSHIP LAUNCH PAD

A clear blast shield erects swiftly in front of the choir and

orchestra. The rocketship IGNITES.

EXT. DESERT SKY - NIGHT

Circling high aerial view of far below shows flashes from the

ground battles. A small rocket exhaust flare is seen as

Willie flies through the canyon on his rocket bike.

As the scene continues to circle, the colossal rocketship

comes into view as it blasts off from it's pad. The sky

lights up as if was daylight. The rocketship belches an

enormous amount of smoke and vapor as it lifts off.

BACK TO ROCKETSHIP LAUNCH PAD

The rocketship clears the launch pad. The Mayor and

Councilman #2 hold onto each other as they struggle to stand

as the rocketship lifts off. The sound is deafening.

Councilman # 2 shouts into the Mayor's ear.

COUNCILMAN #2

It's the end of everything!

MAYOR

No! It is a new beginning!

The beat of the Roadrunner's heart is heard even slower.

BACK TO MR. BADDE/MEMORIAL MARKER

Mr. Badde sees the rocketship taking off as he kneels on his

parent's marker. He pounds on the marker in anger until his

hands bleeds. He looks at his hands and takes out his phone.

MR. BADDE

(into phone)

Bring it down! Bring it down or

you're dead! Fool!

BACK TO ROADRUNNER

The sound of the Roadrunner's heartbeat slows to a stop. The

Roadrunner takes a final breath and dies.

98.

Her body changes from her natural color to the same color as

the muddy ground she is lying on. Her body lines blend into

the ground so that she is almost indistinguishable from the

ground she lies on. Rain pours down.

Willie arrives in great haste on his bike and jumps off of it

before it is stopped. He runs over to the Roadrunner and sees

that she is dead. Willie drops to his knees, picks the

Roadrunner up and holds her in his arms. He shakes

uncontrollably and gives off a long and terrible HOWL. A

silent and massive blinding bolt of lightning strikes, turning

the area to complete white-out.

BACK TO ROCKET LAUNCH PAD

Enemy members close in on the pad. Enraged that the

rocketship got away, they shoot at both the coyote members and

NASA technicians. The NASA and coyote technicians grab guns

from downed combatants and fire back. The three delivery van

drivers appear and grab guns from downed combatants and fire

upon the enemy members.

Three enemy member mobile surface-to-air missile (SAM) launch

sites are in the area. Their crews power them up.

EXT. FIRST SAM SITE - NIGHT

The crew readies to fire it's missile which is pointed at the

rocketship rising into the sky. A crewman gets an instrument

radar lock on the rocketship and has his finger over

the "FIRE" button. One of the coyote tin robot's feet comes

into view from above and flattens the SAM site.

EXT. SECOND SAM SITE AREA - NIGHT

The crew shifts their aim from the rocketship to the tin robot

and fires their missile at the robot, hitting it. The robot

goes berserk and stomps on the second SAM crew and then on

both coyote and enemy members alike.

The enemy and coyote members temporarily ignore each other and

fire upon the robot, sometimes while standing side-by-side.

An injured coyote member runs out of bullets as he shoots at

the approaching robot. A nearby enemy member looks over and

sees that the coyote member is out of bullets. The enemy

member points his gun at the coyote member, hesitates and puts

his gun down. He calls over to the coyote member.

99.

ENEMY MEMBER

Hey you! Let's try this!

The enemy member carries a WW2-era bazooka over to the

surprised coyote member and lifts it onto the coyote member's

shoulder. The enemy member loads the bazooka and tilts it up

at the approaching robot. The enemy member pats the coyote

member's helmet. The robot is now upon them and lifts it's

foot to stomp on them.

ENEMY MEMBER

Fire! Fire it now or we're both dead!

The coyote member pulls the trigger and the robot takes a hit

in the head. The coyote member collapses as the enemy member

catches him. The robot stops, sparks and weaves about as if

it were about to fall down. Both coyote and enemy members in

the area watch the robot.

EXT. THIRD SAM SITE - NIGHT

The crew get an instrument radar lock and fires it's missile

at the rocketship rising in the night sky far above. As the

missile goes on it's way, the tin coyote robot collapses upon

the SAM position, flattening it.

EXT. ROCKETSHIP - NIGHT

The missile closes in on the rocketship, which throws off an

enormous amount of anti-missile chaff.

INT. ROCKETSHIP BRIDGE - NIGHT

In the rocketship's busy and noisy bridge several audio alarms

sound. A console displays an "INCOMING MISSILE LAUNCHED"

reading and then an "INCOMING MISSILE LOCKED" reading.

ROCKETSHIP CO-PILOT

All chaff is gone sir.

RADAR OPERATOR

Ten seconds to impact sir. We will be

hit.

ROCKETSHIP PILOT

We were so close.

The pilot closes his eyes. A timer on an instrument console

shows the missile would impact the rocketship in "4--3--2..."

100.

EXT/INT. ROCKETSHIP - NIGHT

Two smaller missiles come into view and blow up the enemy

missile. The rocketship SHAKES violently from the explosion

and sustains minor damage.

INT. FRANK'S JET COCKPIT - NIGHT

Frank smiles in his dark and silent cockpit. His instruments

illuminates a "missile away" and a "target destroyed"

readings. Frank pumps his fist and cancels out the readings

as he looks over at Eve's jet which is just off Frank's wing.

An empty missile rack is underneath Eve's jet. Frank looks up

at the rocketship as it BLASTS away towards the full moon.

FRANK

Have a safe flight my friends. We

won't forget you... ever.

INT. EVE'S JET COCKPIT - NIGHT

EVE

Copy that. We've got problems on deck

though. We need to get below pronto.

BACK TO MR. BADDE/MEMORIAL MARKER

MR. BADDE

(into phone)

Use the damm rail gun you dumb-ass!

Fail me this time and I'll personally

kill your whole damm family myself!

EXT. BATTLE/RAIL GUN POSITION - NIGHT

L.J. runs, stumbles, gets back up and runs to the trailer

with "EXPERIMENTAL" printed on it's cover. He pulls the cover

off. Under the cover is an electromagnetic rail gun. L.J.

gets on it and flips up a power lever. A "ON" button lights

up on it's instrument panel. The gun's powering up sound is

heard. A "SATTRAC" button on the instrument panel lights up.

101.

EXT. SATELLITE - SPACE

An orbiting satellite's flashing red beacon light turns to a

solid green. It extends a revolving antenna as the rocketship

approaches it.

BACK TO ROCKETSHIP BRIDGE

Sheri and the Captain watch the spooky satellite through the

bridge windows as they fly by it. Sheri holds onto the

Captain in fear. The Captain gives Sheri a reassuring look,

kisses her on the forehead and nods to a crew member. The

crew member leads Sheri off of the bridge. The concerned

Captain looks back through the windows down at the satellite.

BACK TO SATELLITE

The satellite's revolving antenna tilts upwards towards the

rocketship and stops.

BACK TO ROCKETSHIP BRIDGE

A scary instrument warning sound is heard.

CAPTAIN

Oh no.

BACK TO RAIL GUN

An "ACQUIRING TARGET" button on the rail gun's instrument

panel lights up in red. The gun revolves on its mount and

it's barrel moves upwards and extends.

BACK TO EVE'S JET COCKPIT

Eve looks at an instrument panel indicator that lights up and

reads "ELECTROMAGNETIC". Eve becomes alarmed up.

EVE

Push it Frank! No time! No Time!

Eve pushes her throttles forward to it's stops.

BACK TO BATTLE

102.

Base fighter jets appear with Major Roug in the lead. They

make missile and gun hits on several enemy positions.

EXT. ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN POSITION - NIGHT

An enemy four-barreled anti-aircraft gun position manned by

two gunners shoot at and hit Roug's jet. It starts to fall.

INT. ROUG'S JET COCKPIT - NIGHT

Roug pulls the damaged ejection handle. It does not work.

MAJOR ROUG

Sorry fellas. It's up to you now.

Roug's jet goes down and EXPLODES in a fireball.

INT/EXT. BLIMP - NIGHT

The blimp that Willie had wrecked earlier in the tunnel

appears overhead. It has been crudely repaired. It's engine

sputters and backfires. The frightened Coyote Mayor and

Councilmen #1 and #2 are in the pilothouse. The blimp floats

over the enemy anti-aircraft gun position.

MAYOR

For our kids.

The Mayor drops a rock out of the open doorway. The rock

falls on one of the enemy gunners manning the gun position.

The remaining enemy gunner looks up and sees the blimp. He

fires upon the blimp, hitting it and the pilothouse with

incendiary rounds, setting the blimp ablaze. The blimp swings

wildly. Councilman #1 slides on the pilothouse floor and

falls out of the open doorway to his death below. Councilman

#2's clothes are on fire and he slides along the floor towards

the open doorway. He grabs the door opening and hangs from

the blimp. The Mayor rushes to help him. Councilman #2 grabs

onto the Mayor arm, but now both of them are in danger of

going over because of Councilman #2's weight. Councilman #2

realizes this and looks at the straining Mayor, who shakes his

head "No".

COUNCILMAN #2

For our kids.

Councilman #2 let's go of the Mayor's arm and falls to his

flaming death. The blimp careens away.

103.

BACK TO RAIL GUN/INSTRUMENT PANEL

The gun stops revolving. The lit "ACQUIRING TARGET" button

changes from red to green. Next to it a "CONFIRMING RAIL

LOCK" button lights up in red.

BACK TO ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUN POSITION

The enemy gunner sees Frank's and Eve's distant jets on radar

and shoots at them. Both jets are hit and damaged as they dive

down together side by side towards the gun.

BACK TO EVE'S JET COCKPIT

EVE

Got a major shimmy here. Near dead

stick. How you?

BACK TO FRANK'S JET COCKPIT

FRANK

Electronics fried. Smoke in cockpit.

We'd better... WHAT THE HELL?!

SERIES OF SHOTS: TOOMB'S BATTLE WITH RAIL GUN

A) A vintage F-4 jet on full afterburners SCREAMS down

between and past Frank and Eve's jets. Painted on the

F-4's side is "HONCHO" and "MAJOR TOOMB".

B) The F-4 is on fire and spinning out of control. The tip

of a wing has been shot off and there are numerous bullet

and shrapnel holes in the body. Its body leaks fluid.

C) The anti-aircraft gunner redirects his fire to the F-4.

D) The F-4 takes hits from the anti-aircraft gun.

BACK TO FRANK'S JET COCKPIT

FRANK

It's Toomb! He's got a back-seater in

there! Colonel Toomb! Eject! Get

out of that airplane!

104.

INT. COL. TOOMB'S F-4 JET/FRONT SEAT - NIGHT

His picture of the infant girl seen earlier is tucked in the

jet's instrument panel.

COL. TOOMB

It's been an honor and a pleasure to

serve with all of you.

BACK TO EVE'S JET COCKPIT

EVE

Colonel No! Eject! Eject! Eject!

INT. COL. TOOMB'S F-4 JET/BACK SEAT - NIGHT

Toomb regains partial control of his jet. The person in the

shaking F-4's back seat furiously works the jet's weapon

systems. Its missiles fly and it's bombs drop on enemy

positions. The jet makes a monster napalm bomb drop on the

anti-aircraft position, destroying it. The only enemy left in

the area is L.J.'s rail gun position and a sniper.

BACK TO RAIL GUN POSITION

The rocketship is visible on the rail gun's satellite

targeting monitor. The gun's "CONFIRMING RAIL LOCK" button

changes from red to green. Next to it a button which

reads "FIRE" lights up in red. It has a clear cover over it.

The rail gun makes a whining electrical sound which quickly

builds in volume. L.J. lifts the cover and puts his finger

over the button.

BACK TO COL. TOOMB'S F-4 JET/FRONT SEAT

Col. Toomb pulls his cockpit's remote ejection handle for his

back-seater. The back-seater is ejected from Toomb's F-4.

The F-4 goes completely out of control and swaps ends as it

falls. The F-4 becomes obscured by smoke and clouds.

BACK TO RAIL GUN POSITION

The "FIRE" button changes from red to green. A tone goes off

and L.J. pushes the button.

105.

DOWN BARREL'S P.O.V. - RAIL GUN

SLOW MOTION

The rail gun's projectile leaves the barrel and heads skyward.

There are no obstructions in front of it.

Col. Toomb's backwards falling and flaming F-4 comes into view

just as it crosses over into the projectile's path. The

projectile hits the F-4 which EXPLODES.

RESUME NORMAL MOTION/P.O.V.

Toomb's F-4 flaming wreckage CRASHES down upon the rail gun.

The F-4's back-seater in a parachute floats down in the b.g.

BACK TO EVE'S JET COCKPIT

EVE

Back-seater is out! Frank did you

see Toomb's chute?! Did you see it?!

BACK TO FRANK'S JET COCKPIT

FRANK

Negative on his chute! Toomb is down!

He's down! Goddammit!

Eve and Frank veer off in their damaged jets, trailing smoke.

BACK TO RAIL GUN POSITION

A badly wounded L.J. crawls a few feet to over to where the

coyote tin robot's controller lies. L.J. picks up the

controller, looks it over, turns the dial and types something

in, then pushes a lit "RESET" button on the controller.

L.J.

Kill my family... will ya asshole?

The downed coyote tin robot sparks a few times, rises and

walks swiftly away. L.J. dies with a smile on his face.

EXT. COL. TOOMB'S CRASH SITE - NIGHT

The F-4's back-seater touches down in the parachute. An enemy

sniper stands in front of some large boulders.

106.

The sniper zeros his rifle's night scope in on the back-seater

and puts his finger on the trigger to fire.

A humvee arrives at high speed headed directly at the sniper.

The sniper shifts his aim from the back-seater to the oncoming

humvee and fires at it. It's windshield is hit. The humvee's

passenger kicks out the windshield and fires a handgun through

the opening at the sniper, hitting him. The humvee plows hard

into the sniper, pinning him into a large sharp boulder.

Vaughn and Allen stumble out of the smoking humvee and run

back towards where the back-seater had landed, shouting "Ella!

Ella!" as they run. Ella detaches herself from her parachute

and runs to Vaughn and Allen. She jumps up and down, mad with

relief. She passionately hugs and kisses them both

repeatedly.

ELLA

My babies and sweet peas! How could I

live without my precious ones?

VAUGHN

So... how was your flight?

TOOMB'S AIRPLANE HANGER - DAY

A far-off but massive "BOOM" is heard. Everybody looks at

each other with alarm.

EVE

Oh my God. Its begun.

FRANK

We have to leave. We'll be back as

soon as we can. You guys stay right

here!

Ella, Vaughn and Allen nod ok. Ella sits on the cot. Eve and

Frank leave in their humvee.

LAP DISSOLVE TO:

INT. TOOMB'S AIRPLANE HANGER - DUSK

Ella, Vaughn and Allen sit on Toomb's cot.

ALLEN

I wonder what's going on out there.

107.

ALLEN (cont'd)

This is wrong for us to just sit here

like this. We've got to do something.

A creaky door is heard opening on the far side of the hanger.

VAUGHN

Who's that... they back already?

The group is unable to see who entered the hanger because of

the dim lighting and cargo containers. The hollow sound of

hard rubber heels walking on the shiny linoleum floor is

heard. A person wearing low black polished shoes walks

towards the group. The group strains to see who it is.

Colonel Toomb comes from around a cargo container and looks at

them.

COL. TOOMB

I need a volunteer.

Ella raises her hand. Toomb puts his .45 pistol on the table

and looks at Vaughn and Allen. Several plane mechanics arrive

in the b.g. who hurriedly prep Toomb's jet for flight while

another mechanic begins to suit up Ella.

DISSOLVE TO:

TOOMB'S AIRPLANE HANGER - NIGHT

Vaughn and Allen are the only ones left in the hanger.

Toomb's jet is heard taking off. They walk to the hanger door

and see an unattended humvee parked outside. The vehicle

has "COL. TOOMB" lettered on the side. They turn around and

look at Toomb's gun on the table.

ALLEN

Screw this waiting around crap. It's

time for us to step up to the plate.

Allen grabs the gun. They get in the humvee and take off.

BACK TO PRESENT/TOOMB'S CRASH SITE

Ella's eyes widen as she sees the flaming wreckage from

Toomb's F-4.

ELLA

Oh no no no! Not him... Not Toomb!

Ella, Vaughn and Allen rush over to the F-4's wreckage but are

driven back by the flames. Ella has to restrained by Vaughn

and Allen from plunging into the fire, her legs kicking as

they drag her away.

108.

The sounds of battle are gone except for sporadic light

gunfire. Ella looks up at the sky.

ELLA

(sobbing)

He got me out! Where did those other

guys go? Did they crash too?

ALLEN

No but they were shot up to hell. I

hope they made it. It's pretty much

over now anyways. The bad guys lost.

And we helped. We were supposed to

take this trip.

VAUGHN

We did something we can be really

proud of. We will remember this for

the rest of our lives.

Allen has a satisfied look on his face.

ALLEN (V.O.)

I did something. I finally did

something.

ALLEN

It's time to go home. Ella?

ELLA

Ok, but you guys know I don't handle

goodbyes very well. You know how they

always turn me into a crybaby.

VAUGHN

Then we won't say goodbye. The Major

told me earlier where we can find my

uncle and the car, so we'll just leave

in the morning. Eve and Frank will

understand. Let's get some sleep.

Several coyote members with red medical armbands take somebody

away on a stretcher in the b.g.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. BASE ENTRANCE/GATE - DAY (DAWN)

Ella, Vaughn and Allen drive past the base gate in their

repaired car. Uncle Joe stands by the side of the road just

past the gate. They pull over and everyone gets out of the

car. An emotional Vaughn and Uncle Joe hug while Ella

watches, close to breaking down herself. Uncle Joe shakes

Allen's hand and gives Ella a hug.

109.

VAUGHN

We came here looking for you! What

happened to you? Why didn't you ever

come back home or call?

Uncle Joe looks at Vaughn with a sad smile. He points to his

mouth and shakes his head. They look at him in confusion.

Uncle Joe gestures that they should get in the car.

Perplexed, they are about to get back into the car when they

hear a shouted "Wait!" from the gate. They turn and look.

A humvee with a damaged front end and "COL. TOOMB" lettered on

it screeches to a halt and dies a grinding death at the gate.

Eve and Frank get out of the smoking vehicle and run to the

car. Ella fights back tears. Frank looks back at the humvee,

which catches on fire. Guards put out the fire. Cannons and

several jets are being towed into the area in the b.g.

FRANK

It was the only vehicle the motor pool

would let us have after they saw our

planes. We were honored.

Frank looks at Uncle Joe and back to Vaughn.

FRANK

We wanted to prepare you for this but

we didn't want to upset you before you

were ready to leave. Vaughn, your

Uncle Joe has a condition called

aphasia. He was in a bad wreck a long

time ago and his injuries effected his

ability to talk.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH: (DIFFERENT P.O.V.)

Uncle Joe bails from his flying Impala just before it crashes

into the cliff. His body bounces onto the cliff's wall.

BACK TO PRESENT/SCENE

EVE

When Joe is under emotional stress he

simply can't talk. It comes and goes.

Just give him a day or two until

things have calmed down a bit.

110.

FRANK

The Major would be with us if he...

He was a good man. They all were.

Hey, weren't you guys at least going

to say goodbye? I know you had a

pretty loony visit, but we wouldn't

have missed it for the world.

EVE

None of us would have... especially

Toomb. I guess this is for you Ella.

We found it in his office.

Eve hands Ella the envelope with "WILL OF COL. TOOMB" written

on it. Ella glances at it, finally breaks down and weeps. Sid

howls sadly while looking at Ella. She gives the envelope to

Allen without looking inside of it.

FRANK

It wouldn't have been the same without

you three. We're going to miss all of

you. Don't forget about us. Come

back some day?

Uncle Joe hugs Frank and Eve, who shake hands with Vaughn and

Allen. Ella gives Eve a hug and a brief kiss on the lips.

Eve is slightly startled at first at this, then smiles and

gives the emotional Ella a brief return kiss.

In the b.g., Allen opens Toomb's will envelope and reads the

paper inside. A shocked look comes over his face. Allen

passes the paper over to Vaughn, who becomes stunned as he

reads it. Vaughn puts the paper back into the envelope and

tucks it into Ella's back pants pocket.

Too distraught herself for words, Ella nevertheless gives

Frank a kiss. Frank walks with her back to the car. They all

get back in their car and drive down the road as Frank and Eve

look on.

EVE

Think we'll ever see them again? Hey,

how was the kiss?

FRANK

I hope so. They are a part of this

place now. Looks like we get to stay

here a little longer. And don't you

look at me like that... she kissed you

too. I don't hear you yelling your

head off about that... you... you

tramp!

EVE

Follow me you idiot.

111.

Eve smiles as she walks past Frank, who reaches over and

quickly unzips the back zipper of Eve's flightsuit down to her

butt, revealing her skimpy underwear.

FRANK

Shake it!

Eve wiggles her butt as she walks on. Frank follows her.

PRIOR SCENE FLASHBACK:

BACK TO WILLIE/ROADRUNNER

The complete white-out from the lightning flash subsides.

Willie finishes his long and terrible HOWL in the night. He

holds the Roadrunner. Rain pours down and the lightning is

furious.

LAP DISSOLVE TO:

Willie still holds the Roadrunner. Dawn has arrived. The

rain has stopped and the lightning is farther away and

sporadic. A four-way road intersection is nearby. Willie

looks as to which way to go. The large albino roadrunner bird

seen earlier at the rocket tower runs up to Willie. The

roadrunner chirps and clumsily hovers about. The roadrunner

points it's tail down one road, then runs down the same road.

Willie nods. He rinses the Roadrunner off in a nearby creek

and puts her on his rocket bike. He picks up a piece of

tattered rope from the side of the road and mounts the bike.

He ties the Roadrunner to himself and drives off.

Willie reaches an canyon surrounded by ledges. Gathered on

the ledges are the entire multitudes of the live and ghost

warriors. Lightning flashes from the now-distant storm still

sporadically illuminates the ghost warriors. The Chief,

Medicine Man, Loco, Big Boy and the others watch Willie

approach. Willie sees them, stops the bike and looks up at

them. They raise their spears in salute.

The live Chief and Medicine Man and several ghost Chiefs and

Medicine Men walk down towards Willie, who unties the

Roadrunner from himself. Willie gets off the bike and carries

the Roadrunner over towards the Chiefs. They meet.

Willie reaches into his skin pocket and gives an intricately

carved piece of jade to the the Chief, who nods approvingly at

it and shows it to the others. He hands Willie a crude handdrawn

map on rawhide which roughly depicts North America and

the Pacific Ocean. The ocean is colored in blue. The Chief

points to the ocean on the map and looks at the Roadrunner.

112.

CHIEF

The payment is fair. The only chance

to save the poye-kwe now is in the big

waters below the tired sun. There is

hope. We will help.

The Medicine Men take the Roadrunner from Willie and hold her

up above themselves as they make a circular movement. Willie

watches them as he stands next to an oddly shaped cactus.

Swirling thick dust suddenly fills the air around Willie and

the Medicine Men holding up the Roadrunner. The dust

increases to the point of near zero visibility.

PRIOR SCENE FLASHBACK:

Of the unknown figure that became totally obscured by swirling

dust while standing next to an oddly shaped cactus.

The air clears to reveal Willie watching the Medicine Men

holding up the Roadrunner.

The Medicine Men stop and hand the Roadrunner back to Willie

He gets back on his bike, re-ties the Roadrunner to himself

and takes off down the road.

EXT. BASE GATE - DAY

Willie rides down the road towards the gate. A large

formation of base members and a honor guard are present, along

with a formation of the base's jets. Tow ropes are attached

to Eve's and Frank's damaged jets. Twenty-one artillery

cannons are lined up.

Mr. Badde's motorcoach and swiftly continues on.

EXT. DESERT ROAD - DAY

Willie passes a sign that reads "YOU ARE NOW LEAVING NEW

MEXICO". Allen's car is ahead. Willie closes in and catches

up to the car.

EXT/INT. ALLEN'S CAR - DAY - TRAVELING

Uncle Joe, Ella and Sid are in the back seat. They look out

through the rear window at Willie and the Roadrunner. Ella is

hysterical and bawling her eyes out. Toomb's opened will is

squeezed in her hand. Willie rides alongside their car.

Ella, Vaughn, Allen and Uncle Joe reach their hands out

through the open windows of the car. Willie pauses the bike

and extends his hand out to them and grasps their hands.

Willie and Uncle Joe lock eyes. Willie lets go of their hands

and rides past them. Willie passes several state troopers who

fall in behind him.

NARRATOR

Willie and the Roadrunner have left

everything they have ever known... on

their way to the unknown.

114.

Willie checks the rope holding the Roadrunner to him.

NARRATOR

As for his people who took to the

other side of the moon...

EXT. SPACE - DARK

The coyote rocketship blasts through space towards the full

moon.

NARRATOR

We hope that they reach it's darker

side and build their new city, unseen

and finally in peace.

INT. ROCKETSHIP - SPACE

A model of a city constructed with large environment bubbles

sits on a table. A nameplate which reads "LUNA CITY" is on

the base of the model. The Coyote members are busy making

preparations for their moon landing. Sheri looks at the Earth

through a porthole.

NARRATOR

And we will not forget the ones who

stayed behind to live in the deep

places of the earth. They dream that

someday, somehow, they will be reunited

with their loved ones.

BACK TO MINE/MEDICINE MAN'S CAVE

Older Coyotes are led by the Indians into a large shining

back-lit crack which has appeared in the cave's wall. The

crack leads into a large tunnel that is lit by increasingly

brighter hues of silver the farther in it goes. The pole that

Big Boy had been carrying earlier is placed between the sides

of the crack/tunnel's entrance. The pole is now a shining

silver color.

The Coyotes are miserable. They are helped by the Indians to

climb over and around debris of the wrecked remains of the

delivery vans on the way to the crack. Sheri's woeful mother

and father enter into the crack.

115.

INT. SECRET INDIAN CAVE - DAY

Sheri's parents walk into a huge brightly-lit opening. The

cave walls are a shining silver color. They stop and look

ahead into the cave in amazement.

SHERI'S MOTHER

Oh my Lord. Oh... my... Lord.

Loco smiles and nods at Sheri's parents. Sheri's mother cries

with joy as she looks. Sheri's parents embrace and kiss.

NARRATOR

Until then, the left-behinds must

wait. There will always be those who

hunger for both their extinction and

the precious metal all around them.

INT. MR. BADDE'S HELICOPTER - DAY - TRAVELING

Mr. Badde takes a drink from a whiskey bottle. He takes a

pistol from a compartment and loads it. Mr. Badde takes the

cover off of a mounted machine gun inside the helicopter. The

pilot is scared.

BACK TO WILLIE

Willie motors down Interstate 10-W. Other motorists look at

him with astonishment and recording him with their cell phone

cameras. A local channel (ILSS 4) news helicopter hovers in

the sky and films Willie.

NARRATOR

Were you there on that fine sunny day?

Were you among the lucky ones who saw

our hero as he left his homelands and

people towards an uncertain tomorrow?

You just knew that someday it had to

come down to this... the last ride of

Willie Coyote.

INT. FOX NEWSROOM - DAY

FOX REPORTER #1

And now a Fox news alert. Boy is this

bizarre! Is this a joke? Is this

some sort of gag? Move over balloon

boy. Our affiliate station in Arizona

has their helicopter following...

116.

FOX REPORTER #1 (cont'd)

get this... somebody in a Willie

Coyote costume riding on a wild

looking motorcycle, headed west on

Interstate 10.

FOX REPORTER #2

Check out the live shot. According to

our affiliate, state troopers have

been following the vehicle for some

time now, but they are hanging well

back and making no attempt to stop

this madman. It looks like more like

a reverse escort than a chase.

FOX REPORTER #1

So what do they know what we don't?

We will hear it now directly from the

in-air reporter. Maybe we can get

some answers. Let's listen in...

EXT. NEWS HELICOPTER - DAY - TRAVELING

The ILSS 4 news helicopter follows Willie as he motors down

the road.

INT. RESIDENCE - DAY

A man watching the news station excitedly waves his wife over

to watch.

REPORTER'S P.O.V. - NEWS HELICOPTER

Willie motors down the freeway.

ILSS 4 REPORTER (O.S.)

... the vehicle is actually a very

bizarre looking motorcycle. It is

very long and appears to have a rocket

motor on the back. It also appears

that there are machine guns, at both

ends of the vehicle, one pointing

forward, another pointing to the rear.

Perhaps this is why law enforcement is

biding their time? Maybe swat is on

the way? Holy cow, is that a missile

on that thing too?

117.

INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY

Customers watch CBS news on the shop's television. A live

view of Willie's ride is on a newsroom monitor.

CBS REPORTER #1

... and as this bizarre event unfolds,

I am reminded of those delightful

Saturday mornings many years ago

watching the Roadrunner outfoxing the

unlucky but determined Willie Coyote.

FLASH:

Several children in their pajamas laugh and watch a Roadrunner

cartoon on a black and white television.

BACK TO COFFEE HOUSE

CBS REPORTER #2

How can this be true? Is it possible

that Willie Coyote and the Roadrunner

do exist in real life? Call me crazy,

but from this reporter's view I have

no doubt that we are seeing the real

thing... impossible as that may seem.

CBS REPORTER #1

But why now? Why are they here now

motoring together on the Interstate?

Equally puzzling is why is the

Roadrunner tied to Willie? Oh God, I

think the Roadrunner is dead.

INT. ABC NEWSROOM - DAY

A newsroom monitor shows Willie's ride down the Interstate.

ABC REPORTER #1

... even both our affiliate station 4

and their sky reporter Z. Parsons are

now calling the pair Willie Coyote and

the Roadrunner. Incredible.

Absolutely incredible. The troopers

continue to maintain their distance

far back in what has to be the most

unlikely escort of all time. The

Roadrunner is tied to Willie Coyote

and is not moving. We fear the worst.

118.

ABC REPORTER #2

Regarding Willie's machine, one can

only imagine that it must have been

manufactured or provided by "ACME"...

the sole supplier of the often

defective goods delivered to the

repeatedly frustrated but determined

coyote in pursuit of his quarry.

A state trooper behind Willie zooms in his vehicle's dashcam

rear of Willie's bike. It's tail-light reads "ACME".

INT/EXT. RESIDENCE - DAY

A family hurries from inside their home and pile into a

minivan as a news station broadcasts Willie's ride on the

home's tv. The family yells at their neighbors to get in

their own car and follow them. They drive off while their

tires screech down the road and past an I-10W freeway entrance

sign. At the entrance of I-10W, numerous cars are crowded on

and near the onramp, all are competing to get on the

freeway... horns honk, people shout. Traffic police direct

cars onto the freeway while blowing their whistles.

BACK TO WILLIE/ROADRUNNER

A van with "Sunset Years Rest Home" lettering on it's side and

filled with senior citizens are pulled over on the side of

Interstate 10W. They listen on the van's radio of the news

broadcast of Willie's ride. The young driver/employee and the

van's elderly occupants look behind the van at upcoming

traffic. Willie comes into view towards them.

SENIOR CITIZEN

This is it! Go go go!

DRIVER

Here we go!

The driver does a burnout as he pulls the van out onto the

freeway ahead of Willie, acting as an impromptu escort.

Motorists parked on the side of the road are out of their

cars, amazed at the sight of Willie passing by them.

INT. CNN NEWSROOM - DAY

CNN REPORTER #1

... absolutely unbelievable. We wish

Willie and the Roadrunner well on

their journey. We will get back to

that as this breaking story unfolds.

119.

CNN REPORTER #2

In other news, government watchdog

bloggers report unusual chatter from

NORAD regarding an alleged rocket

launch from the U.S. southwest

sometime during the evening hours.

CNN REPORTER #1

However, top officials at NORAD deny

that any such launch has occurred. A

senior Washington spokesperson has

dismissed the launch reports as merely

an elaborate internet hoax.

CNN REPORTER #2

Meanwhile, other sources have said

that if there was a launch, it was

most likely a military reconnaissance

satellite scheduled many months ago

and that government denials of any

such launches are routine as a matter

of national security policy.

INT. WHITE HOUSE/OVAL OFFICE - DAY

The United States President chuckles while watching the Willie

Coyote news report on a news station with several aids. He

gestures toward the television and looks at his aids.

PRESIDENT

Are you seeing this? Are you seeing

this?

An aid changes the television channel. Australian and English

newsrooms also live broadcast Willie's ride.

AID #1

It's on every other major news feed

worldwide by now as well sir. I've

never seen anything quite like it.

Mr. President, hoax or not, this might

not be such a bad opportunity for a

news conference to show the American

people and the world your support and

appreciation for the family values

aspect of this event.

AID #2

Every family in the USA and even some

abroad are glued to their television

sets watching this, just like we are.

The people want to know what this

means... how can it be real?

120.

PRESIDENT

I'm not sure that a nationwide

conference over a trick would be in

this nations's best interests. But I

do have fond memories as a child

watching Willie trying to catch the

Roadrunner in the craziest ways.

AID #1

Exactly, Mr. President. Not to

mention that people could use a little

distraction from our country's woes

right now. And it would be fun.

PRESIDENT

Get a confirmation and set it up...

right now.

AID #1

Yes sir.

INT. TV NEWS STATION #KLA004 (LOS ANGELES) - DAY

Two newswomen report the news.

NEWSPERSON #1

...and in equally bizarre news, our

very own KENNY H. is flying over

something cast right out of a sci-fi

movie. His live report is next.

A newsroom monitor in the b.g. displays the story as it is

narrated by the newspersons.

NEWSPERSON #2

This has got to be somehow connected

with the already strange events of

today that began earlier this morning

in the American southwest.

NEWSPERSON #1

Now get this... a 400 feet tall robot

made of metal or tin is headed west

down Interstate 10 towards Los Angeles

The robot does not look to be too

happy there, does it Ken? Is it true

that the locals are already calling it

the coming Godzilla of Los Angeles?

121.

EXT. LOS ANGELES AREA SKY - DAY

A KLA004 news helicopter films the immense coyote tin robot as

it quickly stomps down Interstate 10. The robot steps over an

freeway overpass that has sign on it that reads "LOS

ANGELES... 24 MILES" on it.

INT. KLA004 NEWS HELICOPTER - DAY - TRAVELING

The news reporter Kenny H. gives a live report as his

helicopter hovers over and films the robot.

KENNY H.

Godzilla indeed ladies. And no, it

certainly does not look happy. This

is no singing tin man with a spout on

his head looking for a wizard. Looks

a lot more like Wile... Holy Toledo!

Mr. Badde's helicopter comes into view and nearly clips the

news helicopter.

I/E. MR. BADDE'S HELICOPTER - DAY - TRAVELING

Mr. Badde has gone mad. He opens the side door and fires upon

the robot with a mounted Vickers machine gun. He uses one

hand to pull the machine gun's trigger. In the other hand he

has a pistol pointed at the frightened pilot's head. The

bullets bounce off of the big tin robot. Several of the

bounced bullets nearly hit several police officers below, who

duck for cover. Several bounced bullets hit police cars who

were following the robot, disabling one police car. The

police take offense at this and shoot at Mr. Badde's

helicopter, hitting it. The robot stomps on the disabled

police car. Mr. Badde's helicopter flies off trailing smoke.

An angry police lieutenant yells at a nearby police officer.

POLICE LIEUTENANT

Get that sucker's tail number!

The police officer looks up at Badde's departing helicopter

and writes its tail number on his hand.

BACK TO WILLIE/ROADRUNNER

Willie approaches an overpass, which is clogged with cars and

people there to watch Willie go by. In the midst of the

crowd, a father holds his young son up and points to Willie as

he passes by.

122.

DAD

Remember this son. Remember.

SON

I will dad. I won't forget.

INT. MEXICAN TV NEWS STATION - DAY

A studio reporter comments while a live feed of Willie driving

down the freeway is playing on a screen behind him. During

the Spanish broadcast, the reporter mentions "Willie Coyote".

INT. JAPANESE TV NEWS STATION - DAY

Live footage of the coyote tin robot wreaking havoc in L.A.

while people point up at it and scream shows on a newsroom

monitor. Classic movie footage of Japanese people pointing up

at Godzilla and scream are seen on another newsroom monitor.

INT. PHILIPPINES TV NEWS STATION - DAY

A newsroom banner in the b.g. reads "MANILA". One monitor in

the newsroom shows Willie on his ride. Another monitor shows

the giant coyote tin robot stomping down Interstate 10.

BACK TO WILLIE/ROADRUNNER

Thousands of cars are parked on the sides of the freeway

silently watching and waiting for Willie to arrive. A man

steps out from the crowd as Willie approaches.

MAN

Yaaaah!

The crowd erupts in cheering as Willie goes by. People pound

complete strangers next to them on the back. Some hold back

tears while some cry. Others are dumbfounded and hold their

children up. Others record Willie on their cellphones.

EXT. MR. BADDE'S BUILDING/ROOFTOP

Mr. Badde's helicopter is parked. A trail of smoke rises from

it. Oil is pooled up underneath it. Bullet holes are in its

body. Spent shell casings lie on the ground. The dead pilot

is slumped over in his seat with bullet holes in his back.

123.

BACK TO WILLIE/ROADRUNNER

Willie pulls into a gas station. Two middle-aged station

employees who had been watching Willie's ride on a small TV

inside the station rush outside as Willie pulls in next to a

gas pump. One employee fills the bike's gas tank, while the

other employee stuffs snacks and bottles of water on the

motorcycle. The employee finishes putting gas in the bike and

both employees take out their wallets.

GAS STATION EMPLOYEE

We got it. We love you guys.

The employees pat Willie on his shoulder as he pulls out of

the station back onto the road.

BACK TO MR. BADDE'S OFFICE

Mr. Badde looks out his window to the parking lot down below.

Armed police and federal agents pour out of their cars and run

to inside the building.

BACK TO FOX NEWSROOM

The live broadcast shows a helicopter view of Willie traveling

down the interstate. In front of Willie now is the old folks

home van, a church bus, a school bus, a V.F.W. van and several

mobile news vans. Endless miles of vehicles follow behind the

trailing state troopers.

BACK TO FREEWAY/WILLIE

The mobile news vans jockey for position to get to closer to

Willie. One of the news vans pulls alongside Willie and the

van's side door opens. One reporter holds out a boom

microphone while another reporter films Willie and the

Roadrunner.

VAN REPORTER

Willie! Willie Coyote! Where are you

going? Did you finally kill the

Roadrunner? How do you feel about

that?

Willie pulls out a cartoon smoke bomb and tosses it into the

news van, which veers out of control and off the roadway.

124.

BACK TO SENIOR CITIZENS VAN

The van's occupants erupt in cheers.

INT. WHITE HOUSE/OFFICE - DAY

The usual trappings of people and equipment are present at a

presidential news conference.... aids, television crew

members, lights. Cameras are pointed at the President as he

sits behind his desk, his hands folded.

PRESIDENT'S NEWS AID

Ok Mr. President, on in 4...3...2...

PRESIDENT

Good morning. As I speak, we as a

nation and the world itself are

witnessing an incredible event still

unfolding which began on our nation's

soil in the American southwest desert.

Decades ago, many of us remember as

children watching on Saturday morning

television the cartoon adventures of

one unlucky but determined coyote and

a speedy roadrunner.

FLASHBACK:

INT. 1960'S-ERA RESIDENCE (LIVING ROOM)- DAY

Kids watch a Roadrunner cartoon on a small black and white

television.

BACK TO PRESENT/PRESIDENT

PRESIDENT

We all are finding out today that

Willie Coyote and the Roadrunner, who

we had always thought only existed in

cartoon land, is in fact... a reality.

First, it is with a heavy heart that I

tell to you that it appears that the

Roadrunner has passed away. But she

and Willie are together now as friends

and have left their desert homelands.

They have been given safe passage to

their destination.

125.

BACK TO WILLIE/ROADRUNNER

Willie and the Roadrunner continue down the freeway. The

freeway's shoulders are clogged with countless numbers of

parked vehicles and people watching and waiting for Willie to

pass by. State troopers clear Willie's way. The President's

broadcast is heard on several of the vehicle's radios.

INT. COYOTE ROCKETSHIP/OBSERVATION COMPARTMENT - SPACE

Sheri and other coyote members watch the presidential press

conference on a monitor. The blackness of space and stars

shows through the rocketship's portholes in the b.g.

BACK TO MR. BADDE'S OFFICE/TOP STORY - DAY

Mr. Badde gestures and yells while talking on his desk phone.

His shirt is off and he is disheveled in appearance. Pounding

on his door and a voice calling out are heard.

U.S. MARSHAL (O.S.)

U.S. Marshals! We have a warrant for

your arrest! Open the door or we will

break it down! Open the door now!

MR. BADDE

(into phone)

So you turned on me in when things got

dicey to save your own hide, huh you

bastard! I told you before that if

anything went wrong with this deal I

was taking you down... with...

As the pounding on Mr. Badde's door continues, a growing

shadow appears on his office walls. Mr. Badde turns slowly

towards the office windows and drops the phone. Outside the

windows the head of the coyote robot looks in at Mr. Badde. The

robot swings its arm back as it gives off a ratcheting sound.

The robot's arm extends out from it's body.

INT. HALLWAY OUTSIDE MR. BADDE'S OFFICE - DAY

Amazed U.S. Marshals and L.A.P.D. officers look out a window

and see the robot.

U.S. MARSHAL

Out! Everybody out now!

126.

The marshals and officers run to and down the stairs as the

coyote robot takes a swipe at Mr. Badde's building. Mr.

Badde's entire top floor is demolished. Debris falls to the

ground as the cops and citizens below duck for cover.

BACK TO WILLIE/ROADRUNNER

Willie motor downs the freeway as many spectators line the

shoulders and overpasses of the freeway, many of whom are

recording Willie's passing with their cell phone cameras.

PRESIDENT (O.S.)

Today the whole world can take heart

of the lessons of this day. Don't be

afraid to try new things. Keep an

open mind. Have a goal and do not

lose sight of it. And, perhaps most

importantly, never give up on yourself

and those who you love.

I join this nation and the world in

wishing the best for Willie Coyote and

the Roadrunner. God Bless and God

speed to both of them... indeed... to

us all.

BACK TO NEWS STATION - DAY

NEWS ANCHOR

God speed indeed, Mr. President. And

that concludes this special report.

In other news, NASA has announced the

long-expected failure of the ailing

lunar orbiter station. According to

the space agency, there are no plans

to repair or replace the station in

the near future.

EXT. MOON'S ORBIT - NIGHT

The fully functional moon orbiter station circles the dark

side of the moon. The orbiter has a blinking light on it.

127.

EXT. MOON SURFACE - NIGHT

The cratered but otherwise featureless surface of the dark

side of the moon.

LAP DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. MOON SURFACE (LUNA CITY) - NIGHT

The Coyote city of the future is on the surface of the moon.

The city is constructed of numerous huge clear bubble domes

covering many buildings and dwellings. The clear-covered

rocketship stands in the middle of the city in a partiallyunderground

silo. Its tip is the highest point in the city.

BACK TO PRESENT/WILLIE

EXT. ROADWAY/PACIFIC OCEAN SEASIDE MARINA - DAY

Willie motors off of a coastal exit. There are thousands of

people around. State troopers clear his path. Willie pulls

into a marina parking lot and gets off the bike. On a dock

next to a large sailboat an older man sits in a movie director

chair. The chair has "C. JONES" written on the back of it.

Willie unties the limp Roadrunner from himself and carries her

up a gangplank onto the sailboat. Jones gets up and follows.

EXT. OCEAN - DAY (LATER)

The sailboat rides on the ocean waves. Dolphins jump out of

the water next to the ship's bow.

PRIOR SCENE FLASH:

The Indian Medicine Men hold the Roadrunner up and make a

circle with her as Willie watches. Thick dust fills the air.

BACK TO PRESENT/SCENE/SAILBOAT

The view moves back from the bow to the sides and back to the

stern of the sailboat. Willie sits on the steering wheel

bench. The (now) very much alive Roadrunner sits next to

Willie, who has his arm around the Roadrunner. The Roadrunner

looks at Willie, gives a "meep meep" sound and looks forward.

DISSOLVE TO:

128.

SUPERIMPOSE: "SEVERAL YEARS LATER"

EXT. DESERT - DAY

A long and straight two lane paved road stretches through the

desert. A vehicle moving down the road comes into view.

INT/EXT. VEHICLE - DAY - TRAVELING

Ella, Vaughn and Allen motor along in a drab military Humvee

slightly modified for civilian use. Ella holds a graying Sid

in the back seat. She has a wedding ring on and looks out

through the rear window.

They drive through the now-bustling town of Hamblem. A large

fair-like cottage industry has sprung up there. Motorhomes,

cars and thousands of tourists crowd the formerly abandoned

town. Around the gas station a big carnival has been erected,

complete with a double ferris wheel.

Attraction barkers shout. Makeshift roadside carnival signs

read "THIS WAY TO HIDDEN INDIAN CAVES" and "SECRET BASE TOUR

HERE ONLY". A large F-4 jet-shaped flight simulator ride

named "COLONEL TOOMB'S LAST FLIGHT" has a long waiting line.

EXT. CURVE/GUARDRAIL - DAY

Ella, Vaughn and Allen reach the curve past Hamblem and pull

in as several carloads of tourists pull out. They are now

alone at the curve. The guardrail has two repaired spots now

on it. They get out of their humvee and look across the

canyon. Two blackened spots are on the other side's cliff

wall. The sound of a vehicle pulling in is heard. The group

turns to see who it is. The vehicle's doors are heard opening

and closing.

Ella, Vaughn and Allen smile as they look towards the vehicle.

ELLA (V.O)

And so the story of Willie Coyote and

the Roadrunner ends for a little

while. Remember them and what

happened out here. And don't

forget...

(beat)

... they are your friends now too.

Goodbye.

129.

INT. THEIR HUMVEE - DAY

On the back seat several movie fan magazines are spread about.

Among the magazines lies a bound movie screenplay. Its title

page reads "THE LAST FRIENDS OF WILLIE COYOTE" and "WRITTEN BY

ELLA TOOMB". On the magazines's covers are headlines and

scene photos from the movie, along with a red-carpet group

photo of the trio at the movie's opening night.

FADE OUT.
