A young rat yearns to be one of the “in” crowd in exchange for loyalty to his friends, but is unexpectedly thrown into the middle of a climate crisis disaster.

SYNOPSIS:

A young rat, Bijou, lives in a large colony in the inner city. Every day he hangs out with his friends, Ricotta, Colby, and Wigmore, who appear to have more talent and interests than he does.

One day to prove himself worthy Bijou joins the cool gang, the Ratpack, and their leader, Swag, on a dangerous mission to raid a dumpster. At the same time a deadly storm hits the city causing widespread flooding and panic.

Almost losing his friends in the deluge, Bijou awakens to the urgent need to find a way of surviving in a changing climate world and more importantly, to the value of his friendships and family.

Bijou sets out on a journey to bring his parents home. Along the way he discovers environmental extremes (wild fires and flooding) are not just in the city but the suburbs as well.

Returning, Bijou, and his friends face another crisis- a terrible disease is sweeping the city. Safety is found in the library. However, Bijou’s frail grandfather needs immediate medical attention that only humans can give.

It’s Bijou who finally takes the leadership role, and makes a risky decision that could either wipe out the colony, or save not only themselves but humans.
