REBORN (PART TWO OF THE NOVA TRILOGY)

REBORN (PART TWO OF THE NOVA TRILOGY)
By Richard G Hector

GENRE: Action, Sci-fi
LOGLINE:

After scientists give birth to Nova aliens using DNA code discovered in a message from space, the genetically superior adult aliens attempt to kill their parents and earthly brother when the brother discovers their plan to purify the human race.

SYNOPSIS:

An astronomer intercepts a message from space and a geneticist learns from the message how to recreate alien life. They have three children: Andrew and Judy, both reborn aliens, and Nathan, their biological child. Their colleagues also have alien children to determine the decryption code. Life is very prosperous for all of them due to the technology unveiled in the encrypted portion of the message. Although the alien-children appear to be normal, their eyes sometimes glow with varying brightness and color. They also grow up as extremely intelligent scientists and alike, but they divide into two camps: those who want to help the human race and those who want to dominate the human race through genetic purification. Andrew is elected as the Lt. Governor of California, but when governor suddenly dies, he becomes the youngest governor ever. Andrew constantly clashes with his brother and when Nathan believes Andrew is responsible for the death of the governor and others, Andrew enacts a plan to kill him. It fails. As suspicions grow, Andrew decides to kill Nathan and all the parents in a private jet crash. At the last moment before the trip, Nathan has to cancel. The following day Nathan confronts Andrew.

Although REBORN is a continuation of LIFE BEYOND, Part One of the Nova Trilogy, it is a story unto itself.

I just realized after already leaving my comment on part one that you do raise the stakes a lot in part two. The only thing I can think of to make it much better is maybe figuring out a way to edit it into one part so a lot of the high stakes and battles can happen all in the same movie. My last script I had to take away a ton of pages to make it all fit into one movie.

After commenting on part one, the plot now takes an anticipated twist. Morals are introduced. Good and evil now make their presence felt.

I think the concept is great in this trilogy, with an alien race transmitting their DNA, but I think where you went with it is very pedestrian. If you want it to be a Hollywood movie, which it could be, it needs a Hollywood story to go with its high concept. Think District 9, not a family drama, IMO.
