After a girlfriend of an aging senator undergoes a secret life rejuvenation procedure, the senator dies unexpectedly and later she falls in love with a widower who undergoes the same life rejuvenation, but the procedure goes wrong.
It has been suggested by one professional reader to make this film in Vancouver, BC rather than in the SF Bay area. "Rejuvenation" is available on Amazon.
SYNOPSIS:
A few years after Patti has the life rejuvenation procedure, she meets up with a middle-age widower. Patti resembles his late wife and they date, but James can't bring himself to have sex because of their age difference. After some prodding Patti tells him she is nearly his age and had some very special plastic surgery. Through enticement, James is accepted into the secret semi-government program. His procedure is a success, but he comes out of anesthesia early only to realize it is a zero-sum process. He will be euthanized while his clone will live on. He escapes the surgery room, only to have the Secret Service Agency hell-bent on eliminating all of them.
The doppelgänger of this story is uniquely different as at the time of genesis of the clone, both the original and the clone have the same memories and consciousness, resulting with intriguing dynamics between the two and the woman they both love.
SCRIPT EVALUATION (BLACK LIST)
The sci-fi premise of this script is an intriguing one, beginning with an excellent sequence in which we watch an older woman’s rejuvenation process as she’s transferred into a younger version of herself (whom we’ll come to know as Patti). The narrative successfully sells the concept as plausible enough, with discussion of stem cells and such, and it’s easy for the reader to suspend disbelief and get pulled into the thorny moral issues surrounding the experiment. Also keeping the audience engaged is the strong romance between James and Patti, particularly when they first meet at the bar. Watching their relationship develop is one of the highlights of the film, and the script gets a lot of comic mileage out of the questions that arise from Michael and James both being in love with Patti. Patti is an especially interesting character, managing to subvert to usual “helpless woman” tropes of the action genre without falling into generic butt-kicking roles either; she’s intelligent and sensual, capable of hacking into complex computer security systems and romancing two men within the space of a few pages, rendering her one of the more compelling female leads in recent action film history. Together with James and Michael, she showcases the script’s ability to round out its cool premise with strong, complicated characters.

I agree that this is different from other doppelganger films. There is always going to be something that is similar to something with the insane number of books and movies that are out at this point. I can't find any flaws in this one. If I read the whole thing I might be able to see something I would consider changing.
While it does have some vague similarities to other doppelgänger films, the story is very unique and intriguing.

Interesting concept! The topic of aging in North American society is so prevalent yet often overlooked in film. I like how you've incorporated it into your screenplay. If you do end up filming in Vancouver, let me know (I'm an actor there). : )
