When Charles Summers, a struggling graphic novelist, gets his latest work into the hands of much-loved movie producer Arthur Strange, life seems to be on the up. That is until Arthur dies laughing and Charles is blamed for his demise, thrusting him into a crazy twisting fate that will either make his career or break him forever.
SYNOPSIS:
Struggling graphic novelist Charles Summers has been kicked out of his flat by Rachel, his now ex-girlfriend and is sharing a room and a mouldy futon with his friend Hansel, an unemployed actor.
Then fate throws Charles a bone where he gets his latest graphic novel into the hands of bigtime movie producer, Arthur Strange. On the same day he meets Mary, an attractive, successful young woman with her own business.
Finally, things look to be on the up.
Then Arthur dies laughing with Charles’s novel open in his lap.
Gaining the nickname of the poison-pen and being firmly fingered for the cause of Arthur’s demise, things get tougher for Charles when he is coned into selling the rights to the novel by Arthur’s rogue son, Peter. Then Gladys, Arthur’s widow, slaps a lawsuit on Charles for causing Arthur’s untimely death and what little assets Charles had, have now been frozen.
Charles seeks comfort in Mary, only to discover Arthur was her favourite uncle and the sole investor in her cafe. Mary, believing Charles has capitalised on her Uncle’s demise by selling the rights to his novel, now won’t have anything to do with him. Then his ex-girlfriend, Rachel, turns up in his life again to capitalise on his strange fame by selling the love letters and poetry he wrote for her.
Penniless, loveless and with his life in pieces, Charles, aided by Hansel, desperately resorts to measures before unknown to him as he tries to stop the litigation, reclaim Mary’s heart and make his name on his talent and not a sarcastic twist of fate.
