BLACK FRIDAY

BLACK FRIDAY
By Jeff Cross

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE: It's the most miserable time of the year as two cynical retail managers endure the insanity of Black Friday in all its hilarious glory - from casually crazy customers all the way to the religious right trying to make the War on Christmas go nuclear.

SYNOPSIS:

Semifinalist, 16th Annual Writer's Network Screenwriting Contest

Quarterfinalist, 2008 PAGE Awards International Screenwriting Contest

The average person only has to spend three hours maximum at the mall during the Christmas rush. The mall's employees, however, have to endure eight-hour days, four to five days a week, for the entire rush, and it can burn the holiday spirit right out of them. Greg Mitchell and Aaron Meir, assistant managers of the Boundaries Books franchise at the Avaricia Mall and veterans of the rush, deal with everything that the first day of the season can throw at them, from increasingly difficult customers to the self-righteous posturing of local megachurch preacher Reverend Hezeboaz Simoleon and his flock because one employee just had to go and say "happy holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas."
