SYNOPSIS:

A coming of age story about a set of twin brother and sister, who escape their torn home, only to encounter a journey filled with strange, magical, and life-altering adventures, all on a quest to forget the past and chart their own future.

At the prospect of gaining a new Mother, Christoff and Claire Tremont voice opposite feelings to each other about the changes occurring in their thirteen year old lives. Christoff, the cynical of the two, has suspicions about their new mother, Avana, which rings true. Avana subjects them to a life of domestic labor; while she spends their father’s hard earned money on fine gowns and jewelry. Christoff and Claire are perplexed and upset by their father’s lack of insight.

They attempt to enlighten their father on the home’s daily goings on, but their pleas fall on deaf ears. This is not the father they know. They attempt to take matters into their own hands by investigating their stepmother in an effort to prove to their father that she does not have their family’s best interest at heart.

Their investigations reveal that their stepmother has been practicing witchcraft under their home’s very roof. They quickly realize the reasons for their father’s strange behavior and attempt to awaken him from his hazy trance to no avail, which furthers anger their stepmother. Their father, it seems, is all but lost to them.

Years later, not much has changed in the family’s situation, until an encounter between Claire and Avana spurs Christoff to take matters into his own hands in an effort to protect his sister. Concluding that they are old enough to chart their own course in life, they leave behind their loving, yet lost father and journey to the other end of the kingdom. They encounter unforeseen obstacles on the way, hanging on by a thread to start life anew under strange conditions, but have they run far enough?
