SILENCE
By Linda Bradshaw-Rogers

GENRE: Drama, Family
LOGLINE:

Teenagers, on lockdown, unite to prevent destruction of home life by their paternal legal enthusiasts.

SYNOPSIS:

As with “Parent Trap” and “House Arrest” adults take actions without regard of their children but the latter always find an unconventional way to convey their opinion. Such is the case for a couple of classmates when their career-centered fathers interrupt home life with unreasonable demands while they take on the legality of the Pledge.

One teen is forbidden to pray, mention God or participate in the Pledge at school. While the other teen watches her home implode with bickering parents and a school-yard brawling brother. When the classmates discover their shared plight, they form an alliance to restore their homes to normalcy which causes an implosion within each household.

As a final project, the pair succeeds in challenging fellow classmates to a Pledge of Allegiance debate. With the assistance of their mothers, valuable information is confiscated from their fathers. The class trial, resembling the U.S. Supreme Court, proceeds according to plan. When an overzealous parent discovers her son’s trial briefs and assumes a religious lesson has taken place, the real trial begins. She confronts school officials regarding their breach in separation of church and state. The PTA meets to determine the merits of the lesson and concludes a class project isn’t a matter of state. However, consequential to the trial’s publicity, the law firm reassigns the case resulting in a successful mission for the deprived classmates.

The class project concluded with the young Justices 7-2 ruling in favor of the current Pledge.

Benjie Anderson

Interesting!

Annie Mac

Would love to read your script!

Roxanne Paukner

Interesting that you chose the name Eugene Robinson. There was an NFL player for the Packers by that name, vocal Christian, arrested the night before the superbowl for soliciting a prostitute. Very sad. :(

Linda Bradshaw-Rogers

Wow, sad indeed. Actually, the character name is the derivative of two family members.

Jeremy Crawford

Definitely would be an interesting film especially in this age. Religion is a hot topic. I want hear strong arguments from both sides.

J G Blodgett

Sounds interesting. If done right it can be both entertaining and deliver a powerful message
