A wheelchair-bound professor lures a deadly Brazilian head-shrinking spirit using his students as bait, until the entity turns on him, forcing a fight for survival.
SYNOPSIS:
1990. Deep in the Amazon Rainforest. An anonymous Brazilian farmer stumbles upon the largest and rarest Red Diamond ever unearthed. Its discovery awakens an ancient evil: a head-shrinking demon-spirit, long worshipped by the Jivaro, currently possessing the body of a ruthless headhunter and granting him terrifying superhuman power. Drawn to the diamond for its survival, the demon attempts to claim it by killing the farmer and shrinking his head. In a violent, desperate struggle, the farmer forces the Red Diamond down the headhunter’s throat. The human host dies instantly, but the demon is released, escaping into the jungle as a restless, bodiless force.
Present Day. New York City. Professor James Pierpont (35), a brilliant anthropology and hypnosis expert, is confined to a wheelchair. He is the paraplegic grandson of the murdered farmer, haunted by the Amazon legend and consumed by two obsessions: walking again and avenging the eight students whose cruelty left him crippled. James believes the demon-spirit can give him both. Under the guise of a controlled hypnosis study, James assembles his subjects: Jason, a small-time pot dealer. Tariq, a rebellious gay Saudi. Thomas, an autistic British savant. Brandon, a charming Jamaican playboy. Luna, a shy Latina. Matt and David, black-belt twin brothers. And Bridget, a devoted, striking bodybuilder in her twenties, deeply in love with James, and unknowingly the key to his plan
James confiscates their phones and tablets, locks the room, and orders the computer by voice command, to dim the lights, drop the temperature, play distant ceremonial drums and ignite incense made from ayahuasca roots. One by one, he induces relaxation. Only Bridget falls into a profound trance. James regresses her consciousness seven generations into the past, sending her soul soaring over the Brazilian jungle. That’s when the wandering demon-spirit seizes the opportunity, attaching itself to Bridget’s soul and hitching a ride back to New York.
All hell breaks loose. Possessed by the demon, Bridget transforms instantly, inhuman and unstoppable. She decapitates her closest and weakest victim, Luna and grotesquely shrinks her head. As panic erupts, the survivors discover every door and window sealed, impenetrable. Trapped inside, they realize the horrifying truth: The demon grows stronger with every kill. Bridget embarks on a savage rampage, hunting, beheading and shrinking heads. Each murder increases her immunity to conventional weapons and elevates her toward god-like power. Students fall. A security guard dies. Hope evaporates. Only James remains, bloodied, broken, and seemingly defeated.
The Final Revelation. Bridget is lured into James’s glass-enclosed office, an environment that appears harmless, even pathetic. But this was never about survival. It was about control. James reveals his secret: he has been preparing for this moment for ten years. Using an ancient ayahuasca concoction, James subdues the demon-spirit through sound, scent, and voice. He commands his computer to fire the only weapon capable of killing the possessed host: a Red Diamond projectile. Bridget is killed instantly. With no host left, the demon-spirit is forced into its final vessel, James himself. Transformation. The demon fuses with the paralyzed professor. Bones realign. Muscles surge. James Pierpont stands. As the building collapses in flames, James leaps from the five-story inferno, a reborn man, endowed with terrifying superhuman power. The demon has found its perfect host.
