Come to Hollywood. Visit the land of Technicolor dreams, where sidewalk stars shine under foot. Come see the wanna-be movie stars who toil away on Hollywood Boulevard, playing superheroes for the wide-eyed tourist picture takers.
Say hello to the Boulevard’s Supergirl, a washed-up actress named Megan Bowery (40s), who spiked away any career opportunity by junking up her veins. Now clean, Megan leads an unfulfilled life.
Luckily Megan has an angel in the city of - a kindhearted man whose love helped her slay her speedball demons. But when this caring guy is murdered and the cops peg him as just another wannabe actor snuffed out on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Megan decides to investigate.
Although in over her head, Megan displays a startling range of awareness and toughness as she sinks into the cesspool of the investigation – an investigation that leads to a posh strip club, film production offices, sort-of interested flatfoots, a long-dead former movie star’s ruinous tinsel-town scandal and, of course, an alluring femme fatale.
Megan ties the murder to Hollywood’s dark past, a heinous human trafficking ring, a residual payment scheme and to corrupt movie producers.
So visit this “Hollywood Boulevard” and experience a hardboiled neo-noir with a protagonist who discovers she truly is a good enough person for any world – including Hollywood.
“Hollywood Boulevard” was a second rounder (top 15%) in the 2020 Austin Film Festival Feature Screenplay Competition. The script was also a finalist in the 2014 Austin Film Festival’s Pitch Competition at the event.

I like the idea of the fake superhero forced by circumstance into the role of a true protagonist...sounds cool.
