LOGLINE:

After writing a best-selling book, a former police officer suffering from PTSD becomes the target of a serial killer hell-bent on taking over his life.

SYNOPSIS:

Byron Walsh, a former Los Angeles Police Officer, moves to New York after his parents die to live in his family home. He writes a novel based on his experiences in the LAPD, and the injury that cost him his partner, his job, and gave him Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Byron meets with Sophie Grove, a publicist who helps him set up an interview at a local cable show to promote the book. His overly friendly new neighbor, Anthony Mallone, drives the nervous Byron to the interview. Before he can go onstage, Byron suffers a panic attack, so Anthony steps onstage for him, and does the interview. He does so well as Byron, that the three of them scheme to have Anthony take over as "Byron" in the public eye. Byron goes out for drinks with Anthony, but wakes up in his living room next to the dead body of his therapist, Dr. Landry. Anthony arrives and convinces him not to call the police, and the two of them bury the body in Byron's back yard. Byron and Sophie become suspicious of who Anthony really is, and begin investigating his background and what really happened to Dr. Landry. Tapping into his former skills as a police officer, Byron finds out that Anthony Mallone doesn't really exist. He breaks into Anthony's house to discover what's really going on, but finds evidence that Anthony has stolen identities in the past, slowly taking over their lives and murdering them. Before he can escape, Anthony appears and corners him, and offers to continue their partnership if only Byron will keep quiet about all this... and look the other way when Anthony kills Sophie. Byron escapes from Anthony's house and drives quickly to Sophie's condo, hoping she'll still be there. Byron finds signs of a struggle, and a video on Sophie's laptop with Anthony telling him to come to the theatre where they had their first interview. Anthony pulls a gun on him, and Byron manages to overcome his PTSD to attack Anthony. Anthony shoots Byron in the shoulder as the two wrestle for the gun. Sophie manages to distract Anthony long enough for Byron to shoot him. Byron checks on Sophie to make sure she's okay, and when he turns back around, Anthony's body is gone.
