I have had an interest in filmmaking for many many years now. I have always been a creative, art in school, fashion, painting, writing, theater production, and film. I went into real estate years ago in order to make enough money to afford my art, however life and the business consumed me. I became a real estate broker, managing over 36 agents, plus additional staff and working 10-12 hours a day during 6-7 day weeks. The more agents, the more houses, the more work, and I never could get back to my initial goal of funding my art. When the market crashed, everyone around me was panicking, but I was silently relieved. While sorry to see the chaos around me, friends and family losing homes, I even had to short sale properties in order to get out from under ridiculous mortgages. Yet, I was feeling such a relief because it was an opportunity for me to step away and rediscover my true self and the spirit behind who and what I really wanted to be. I jumped into the industry of becoming an independent filmmaker slowly. It took a while to learn the new cameras, to build my equipment, and to relearn some of the skills I had left on the wayside. Today, I am making films and enjoying it so much. Still learning, and likely will always be in a learning mode because this industry changes so rapidly with new equipment and technology, but I am happier than I have been in a long time. And much happier than I was during my real estate broker days. My advice to all those with dreams to make films, act, produce, or step into the industry in whatever area you so desire… is to simply "do it." Don't put it off, don't wait, don't let life get in the way because you are not promised another day. Each morning when I open my eyes I am thankful that I woke up and that I am finally doing what I want to do. If you have a moment, please take a look at my two newest trailers. I welcome feedback.
