Think Dallas set in a utopian city. The descendants of a wealthy, independent city struggle to maintain their parents' empire.

SYNOPSIS:

Backstory: an alternate-history Portland, Oregon. VanPort--a community in our time destroyed by a 1948 flood--is instead reclaimed by a man of extraordinary vision and drive. He and two close allies toil to create a futuristic city on the water--an island of prosperity in a sea of increasing political hostility. We follow the relationships of their children, who form alliances of their own, and struggle to follow three quite different ideas of what the city should be.
