They are forced from hibernation as mere children light years from their destination when their spaceship is hit by an asteroid.
SYNOPSIS:
Their planet is dying from both neglect and war. Planetary quakes are a daily occurrence. The top scientists believe that their planet has no more than a hundred years of sustainability. The best and brightest built a spaceship that can travel faster than the speed of light. But the planet they seek for a new home is more than 200 light years away. They devised a plan to send infants into hibernation chambers; in that way, they would get there still young enough to construct the wormhole bridge between planets. Just past the halfway point of its journey, the ship suddenly encountered a meteorite on a collision course with the ship. In order to save the main ship areas, which house the leadership, the crew sections were ejected seconds before impact and were destroyed by the meteorite. The main ship sustained heavy damage, causing it to drop out of hyperspace. Badly damaged, the guardian robot is forced to awaken the main crew. The four surviving crew members awaken with the appearance of children between the ages of 10 and 12.They must learn to do all the things they missed in normal child development, like learning to walk and to talk. They must find a way to complete the mission and save their home world. While also dealing with all the problems of growing up and the uncertainty of space.

Hints at some dramatic potential, but I'd give us a little more as to the antagonistic force. Is the story just about the "hardships of space"? Or perhaps is there something more you could say re: a villain? Does someone go rogue? Are we talking Lord of the Flies in space? Also, there could be more of a hint as to the stakes. But a good solid start, for sure.
