SYNOPSIS:

To teenager Brian Davis, Kyra Talbot’s voice was music, angelic and softer than silk. Yet from that first moment he sensed great sadness. She exuded an undertone of weariness and despair, as if some tragedy in her past had irreparably damaged her very soul. Her eyes seemed to bear the weight of a millennium’s tears. They were as green as the rich green grass beneath her feet, and sparkled like emeralds, but when she felt threatened, they darkened to dull obsidian like the sad vision of a broken china doll. It was in those eyes he first glimpsed the vastness of her pain; it was in those eyes he saw his destiny. She was bright and hopeful and dark and endlessly deep. She was fire and ice and everything in between, and he held her gaze, felt the coldness of her touch, and listened to her sadness. He loved her from the moment he saw her; then she vanished like a ghost. For Brian Davis, this was so much more than a simple case of infatuation or puppy love, it was a mission to find out what happened to the girl who now seemed like a ghost; a supernaturally beautiful ghost that would come back to haunt him in his dreams for many years to come; had she been the victim of parental ritual abuse or a member of a cult? Had she been silenced because she knew too much? Or was she the victim of a fledgling serial killer? Many years later, author Derrick Dark – pseudonym for Brian Davis – is suffering from a case of writer’s block. Suddenly, childhood memories spark an idea that not only provide good fodder for his newest novel, but will possibly help Kyra’s restless spirit find peace at last. Based on the story of one man’s search for the truth about the disappearance of a young girl from a local beach in 1975, Mystery, Indiana is more than a coming of age tale, it is a testament to the courage and never-ending love and dedication by one man who never gave up, defying the odds and eventually solving a twenty year old mystery.
