Following a personal tragedy, psychologist Petra Graham goes against her professional judgment and makes a house call to a defunct family farm, bringing her face-to-face with a sinister portal to the past and a family history filled with murder, incest and insanity.
SYNOPSIS:
Two months after the suicide of her husband, psychologist Petra Graham, returns to her practice. The first patient she sees is middle-aged Rose Tollerbridge, who is having trouble with anxiety and stress. Rose speaks almost exclusively about her unemployed son, Rance, 25, who spends his days in the barn of the family's defunct farm with scrapbooks about World War II left to him by his grandfather, listening to a radio that plays nothing but static. When Petra is grudgingly persuaded to make a house-call, she meets the hulking, hooded figure of Rance -- who wears an old nylon wind-breaker with the hood up and the draw strings pulled so tightly that only a bit of his eyes and nose are visible, making him look like an alien. Soon after, Petra is stalked by a paranormal presence that invades her office and condo, and attacks those closest to her. Haunted and harassed by forces she does not understand, Petra turns to an old mentor for help. To her surprise and relief, Petra's mentor appears to understand the Force that is pursuing her and enlists the aid of an ancient weapon to destroy it.
