After his first feature film isn’t well received, a young gay filmmaker must battle the criticism of cancel culture and a dark, mysterious presence that haunts his nightmares.

SYNOPSIS:

Two gay black COWBOYS are enjoying a romantic evening out in the woods, very Brokeback Mountain. As the couple is stalked by gay-black-cowboy-serial killer DEEP THROAT DAVIE, we SMASH CUT to young, gay filmmaker MAXX ABRAMS, finishing the edit on his new horror movie, Enter At Own Risk. Growing increasingly frustrated with audio sync issues and a fast-approaching deadline, Maxx loses it. As he’s taking the last of his anxiety meds, an evil version of Maxx is reflected in the bathroom mirror. This DEMONIC DOPPELGÄNGER is dark and menacing, but disappears before Maxx has a chance to see it. A necklace with a tiny cross belonging to his deceased father protects him from this dangerous entity... for now. A month later, Maxx’s new movie launches the inaugural Diverse Voices Initiative for New Horizon Studios, the largest filmmaker talent search since HBO’s Project Greenlight. Though his dream is finally coming true, the film does not play well. Many storm out of the screening claiming the movie is offensive, some questioning if it promotes violence toward the gay community. Maxx’s nervous manager KEITH and studio head RICHARD go into damage control. Best friend VERANDA and ex-boyfriend SEAN bring solace when gay social media pounces, demanding Maxx and his movie be canceled. While trying to forge a new path and dealing with the social media backlash, Maxx falls deeper and deeper into a dark place, eventually losing his grip on reality. After his father’s necklace is stolen, Maxx is no longer able to protect his loved ones from the evil that lives within his subconscious. When this evil “comes out” and takes over Maxx’s mind, body and spirit- terrible things happen. No one is safe, not even Maxx.
