VAMPIRE.R.S
By Fuzzy Batten

GENRE: Horror, Comedy
LOGLINE: A young man discovers that all the doctors in the ER are vampires who plan to destroy humankind and must be stopped.

SYNOPSIS:

“VampirE.R.s” is written along the lines of films such as “Fright Night” and “Superbad.” Jason, in his late twenties, screams in pain because his best buddy Dan has accidentally shut the car trunk on his hand. They rush to a hospital ER and while there Jason thinks he sees a doctor and nurse bloodily fang a sedated patient to death. He can’t be sure of what he’s seen after another doctor tells him his pain medication is causing him to hallucinate. Unconvinced, Jason talks his buddy Dan and his ex-priest father Pops, who has become a wacky alcoholic inventor, to return to the hospital the next night to confirm he isn’t crazy. Reluctantly, the two men go back with him the following night, joined by the beautiful hospital receptionist Lisa with whom Jason is smitten. As they investigate the ER staff they all see vampires. Frank, a strange homeless man who has known of the vampires for years, also joins them, saying that the vampire leader Doctor Sullivan is planning Doom’s Night (the end of all humankind) at midnight the next day. Enraged at being discovered, flying vampires chase them, dive bombing their car, all the way back to Jason’s house. The vampires set their car on fire to force them out before sunrise. After the humans finally make it inside the house, the lead vampire fangs a neighbor’s dog and throws it through the living room window, where it becomes a “vampire grenade.” Jason and the team bitterly realize it is up to them to stop the vampires from destroying humankind. They must return to the hospital despite their fear. On the eve of Doom’s Night the team, equipped with stakes, crosses and other weapons, returns to the dreaded hospital. Pops, who has sobered up and rediscovered his faith, blesses the hospital’s water tank, making it all holy water, instant death for any vampire struck by it. With Jason’s assistance he sets off the fire sprinklers, killing the majority of frenzied vampires, but not all. In a huge battle in the vampires’ cobblestone lair, the two lead vampires and their vengeful minions die in fiery agony. The team is joyous in their victory, but out of nowhere an old janitor arrives by elevator with his name tag “V.D.” on his shirt. He has been the true leader of the vampire pack the entire time. Indeed he is Vlad Dracula himself come to rule the Earth on Doom’s Night, for which the moment has arrived. Jason’s buddy Dan has suddenly become a vampire (who hates the sight of blood and holds his nose and closes his eyes when he goes to bites someone; like a kid jumping in a swimming pool) and sides with Dracula. Jason never knew his friend had been bitten by the vampire dog. Now Dracula morphs once more into the king of the vampires. As his power grows in an unearthly light, he will soon finish all humankind unless, within seconds, a way can be found to defeat him.
