SYNOPSIS:
Synopsis: NOCNITSA (The Serpent Seed) 96 pages
Naomi Slocum, 32, tall with curly, reddish-brown hair, not hard to look at, and except for lipstick, she wears no makeup. Since her trauma, of giving birth to the son of a demi-god, she now does her best not to be noticed. It's easy to think that she may be hiding something, which clearly, she is. Yet, if she really wanted attention in the world, it wouldn't be hard to do.
At one time she was known as an Anthropologist Investigator, or as she called herself—a meddlesome bone-collector. Naomi’s back-story is incredibly unique: In a previous expedition, five years prior, she discovered the Greek demi-god, Asterius, the Minotaur, in the labyrinth of Crete. He’s tall, a very muscular Grecian, with the head of a magnificent white bull, who comes to life—by way of the Signet of Ladon. However, he is only alive for a short time.
Despite Naomi’s love interest with Teddy Wilson, 35, a globe-trotting flyboy, she falls under Asterius’ spell. The Minotaur makes her his own, and Naomi becomes pregnant with his child.
Before Asterius’ death—he gives Naomi, the Signet of Ladon and with it—a simple gift—the ability within one’s self to persevere and the will to fight evil, and just as important, protect their son, including herself. When Naomi asks Asterius who they need to be protected from, he replies: Minos, the condemner and judge of his private hell, and his Nocnitsa. Then, Asterius reveals that Minos is also his brother! Minos will remain in hell forever, unless he possesses the Signet of Ladon that would set him free.
Asterius also tells her when the time and place is right, destroy the ring so that it doesn’t fall into the hands of Nocnitsa and Minos. Her connection to Asterius’ mythology, including her fear that he and their son is trapped in the underworld under Minos's evil rule, gives her a strong motivation to confront Nocnitsa and Minos, and defeat them, one way or another.
From the very first scene, we will be submerged in a film story so unique, we have to wonder how will our lead character (s) cope with this horrifying enigma? For the audience, from the very beginning, it makes for a non-stop press-the-nerves-attack. We will quickly understand what the goal is of our two main characters: Naomi and Nocnitsa.
While the Nocnitsa entity can take many more forms, nothing is as unnerving as many of the horror scenes that this screen story provides. The crone’s sexual invasion scenes, including the horrible death of some of the characters.
Front and center, Nocnitsa is an engaging horror villain, particularly due to her ability to change shape from human to reptile. The script's opening is a tension-filled introduction for her, primarily because it introduces her need for sex that re-charges her evil capabilities. Asterius severing his own head to kill Hackett is a creative and thrilling moment. The swarm of geese attacking the Cessna and then White Tip, killing Don inside the plane is an excellent horror/action piece. A screenplay read will reveal many other set pieces that are strong and standout moments, and horror fans will relish in these nerve-pressing thrills.
The climax, when it spills over into the underworld, between Naomi and Nocnitsa and Minos is engaging and visual. It's a good surprise with the callback that Naomi is able to use the Ouroborus concept to defeat both Nocnitsa in a very unique conclusion.
This film clearly has ‘franchise’ potential including a work-in-progress-novel that will soon be completed.
Thank you for the opportunity.
