SYNOPSIS:

Military Police Sergeant Max Tate arrives in Occupied Berlin, determined to continue in his family’s footsteps of military service in Europe. He is quickly whisked off to the School of Standards, where he and all others arriving in Berlin are taught how to work and live in the heart of Berlin. Though he settles into the relative normalcy of what works brings dealing with everything from early morning alerts to the discovery of a two thousand pound British block buster bomb right next door to a German day care center, he soon learns not everything is as it seems.

In the short time since his arrival, he starts to hear stories of people hearing voices, seeing things move and seeing people who disappear into thin air. While he initially chalks the stories up to nothing more than to either scare the new people or play off of the oppressive feelings in some of the buildings, when he begins to experience these events himself he realizes there may be truth to the stories.

While trying to make sense of what he’d heard and witnessed, Max and the other MPs are called out to the combat support building where an officer has sworn he saw someone inside the storage area. Though they discover no one inside, there is a brief panic when the padlock shuts with no human intervention, locking the MPs inside the room. Despite this incident being witnessed by numerous people they are ordered to not speak of it again.

Not being satisfied with the response Max takes it upon himself to visit the unit historian, who he learns is the same woman he tried to pick up at the bar weeks before. Working past the embarrassment she informs him of the sordid history of the buildings, some of which were used by the SS to torture people. She also informs them the haunting situations are not as rare as he would think but it would be best to keep his mouth shut.

Disheartened by the commands to stop, Max convinces the other MPs to start keeping a private record of the paranormal activity. While on patrol one night with Leon, Max meets a photographer who they discover diving for relics in one of the flooded bunkers. They have a brief discussion on what he is doing and how he can help them on their quest for the truth in the huantings.

Their photographer friend ends up helping them after a call for activity at the swimming pool hall, a site used by the SS for water and boat training. As they arrive they see a sailboat in the middle of the pool, the photographer manages to snap a few shots which show up when he develops the photos. After presenting the evidence to their captain the MPs receive a threat of court martial if they document it again.

When the hauntings take a violent turn the captain is forced to rethink his take on the hauntings, fearing a political nightmare should any of the photos get leaked. After consulting the brigade general, the MPs are given permission to make one attempt to make the haunting stop with the understanding should anything happen he’ll deny all knowledge of it.

After consulting with the unit historian once more they begin to prepare themselves to attempt an exorcism. The night initially starts off with nothing but soon the ghosts of the past reveal themselves. What started as a battle of words quickly turns into otherworldly violence, leaving one of their own dead. Max and the remaining MPs of their squad are left to wonder what they could do to prevent anymore of their soldiers from being harmed by the specters.
