When her brother is murdered during a human trafficking operation on
the Texas/Mexico border, an overachieving Police Cadet would rather kill the
perpetrator than face her own suffering, but when her plans of murder fail, she
kidnaps El Jefe’s autistic son... and learns to embrace grief while surviving the
majestic and dangerous mountains of Monterey Mexico.
SYNOPSIS:
After her seventeen-year-old brother was murdered, a police cadet from Texas, PHOEBE CHANDLER (21), runs from her grief and seeks revenge on XAVI XATALA (40s), a powerful El Jefe in Mexico. When her initial plans to kill Xavi don’t work, she kidnaps his autistic techy-savant son, MARCO (17). What follows is a cat and mouse game in the rugged but lush countryside south of Monterrey, Mexico as Xavi and Phoebe wage war against each other. All odds are against Phoebe as Xavi unleashes all his resources to retrieve his son and kill this woman who threatens his family and kingdom. As she drags Marco through territory and circumstances unknown to her or Marco, Phoebe’s suppressed grief surfaces resulting in an unexpected friendship between the two, which seeds her healing. Unbeknownst to Phoebe, she has gained an ally -- Marco’s mother, JUANITA, who reads the signs from afar of Marco and Phoebe’s friendship. Add to that -- Juanita learns exactly how much more important Xavi’s kingdom is than his family. When it becomes apparent Marco’s life is more valuable to Phoebe than it is to Xavi, Juanita chooses sides… with Phoebe.
