By Cash Anthony

GENRE: Crime, Drama, Independent
LOGLINE: Inspired by a true story. When an innocent man is exonerated after 12 years on Death Row, he must find and persuade the victim—the eye witness who put him away—to testify against the real killer, who is hiding in plain sight.

SYNOPSIS:

Shad's been on Death Row in Texas for 12 years. One count of murder, two of rape. A seven-year-old survivor identified Shad from a photo spread. Finally, a DNA test proves he’s innocent. Shad's out of prison, but he's not free. Shad wants justice. He wants revenge. He wants to own a music store and take his mom on vacation, and never to step in a courtroom again. Without the victim’s help, the prosecutor can’t go after the real killer. With a partial DNA match, the victim has to testify again or else the next suspect will walk. After all, she already swore it was Shad, and that's all he has to say. The detective who set Shad up has Alzheimer's Disease. How did he do it? If Shad confronts the victim, she won’t talk. He knows she'll be terrified that he wants revenge for his ruined life. But he has to try. Shad finds her and begs her to testify again and explain. She won't, she can't; but the victim denies she ever identified Shad. Confused, he finds the missing clue in his aunt's living room: the detective played a trick on the victim, and her memory’s tainted now. Shad’s sure he’s found the real killer, but the DA can't prosecute. What kind of justice is left? Shad has to decide what to do with his resurrected life. He can't get his 12 years back, but he can at least achieve a free man's small dreams.
