SYNOPSIS:

Blue Cat Screenplay Contest Feedback 9/02/15 Archive #5230 Miracle Workers Reader #9051 Miracle Workers is a hilariously entertaining script with a unique premise and cast of characters. The most intriguing element of the script has to be it’s absurd comedic tone. A lab dedicated to proving the mechanics behind biblical miracles, a talking snake that repeats television commercials, a native Hawaiian with a boar as a sidekick -- the story definitely has bizarre characters and comedic beats that are sure to be memorable. The dialogue and clever gags are probably the script’s strongest points. Joe’s heartfelt goodbye to his two-headed pony, Farrah’s conversations with the deep intercom voice above her head she frequently mistakes for “Him” -- the dialogue is definitely a strong point. Equally important to the level of humor is the story’s gags, particularly Eve, the talking snake. My favorite scenes in particular have to be Eve’s first moments of speech (“Reverse mortgage!”) and her trip to the beach. Aside from the humor, there’s also a level of cleverness at work. Joe, being an agnostic scientist whose recent unemployment forces him to take a job with S.N.A.K.E.S. and finding a “scientific” explanation for the talking biblical serpent is a witty idea. The script is full of entertaining characters from Joe to Farrah to Eve herself.
