A dying rancher wrestles with his daughter’s obsession with continuing their traditional lifestyle, a conservationists’s dream of a vast cow free wilderness, and a climate change activist’s vision for a wind farm as he decides his legacy.
SYNOPSIS:
Even before rancher Vern Carlson learns he has a terminal disease, he knows the way of life he loves is dying, maybe even faster than he is. He wants to leave his pregnant daughter something more than the daily struggle to make ends meet and the ever-present prospect of losing it all. What if saving his family meant betraying his daughter's wishes by surrendering his ranch to a conservation group, or developing it as a wind farm? Either option would would set her up for life, while transforming their pristine land into something she bitterly opposes.
Vern struggles with his own doubts, while rising passions and ruthless activists push his faith in people to their limits. There are no easy answers, and there is very little time for him to decide what to do as he faces death in the place he loves.
